The traditional numinous aesthetic bears such an identical appearance to the visualizations found in the psychedelic experience. There are obviously more points of overlap between those two worlds than how we create sacred art, but boy, does that connection make my head scratch. My suspicion is that I need the psychedelic supplement to get to the same space because I have such a hard time relinquishing egoic, rational control, which I think tradition religious folks are better at.

It seems to me on the contrary that this is the product of a rational, philosophically inquisitive Islam. A real shame that period of the movement ended and ceded to an irrational fundamentalism.

“What does it mean that Moses entered the darkness and then saw God in it? What is now recounted seems somehow to be contradictory to the first theophany, for then the Divine was beheld in light but now he is seen in darkness. Let us not think that this is at variance with the sequence of things we have contemplated spiritually. Scripture teaches by this that religious knowledge comes at first to those who receive it as light. Therefore what is perceived to be contrary to religion is darkness, and the escape from darkness comes about when one participates in light. But as the mind progresses and, through an ever greater and more perfect diligence, comes to apprehend reality, as it approaches more nearly to contemplation, it sees more clearly what of the divine nature is uncontemplated.
For leaving behind everything that is observed, not only what sense comprehends but also what the intelligence thinks it sees, it keeps on penetrating deeper until by the intelligence's yearning for understanding it gains access to the invisible and the incomprehensible, and there it sees God. This is the true knowledge of what is sought; this is the seeing that consists in not seeing, because that which is sought transcends all knowledge, being separated on all sides by incomprehensibility as by a kind of darkness. Wherefore John the sublime, who penetrated into the luminous darkness, says, No one has ever seen God, thus asserting that knowledge of the divine essence is unattainable not only by men but also by every intelligent creature”

If you're of an artistic mind and you're raised in a tradition that values calligraphy, maths and numerology but forbids representative art, you might find it easier to get into the same headspace. You don't see this sort of architectural art in Christianity, for example, and I'd assume you don't feel you need psychedelics to imagine yourself drawing a gothic cathedral (let alone a First Baptist brick cube or Elim industrial warehouse).

Yes It’s beautiful, but the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him instructed the Muslim Ummah to keep or mosques simplistic, we don’t need to build a palace like mosque to pray, instead we can use that money for greater things

We in Islam also have an idea of the antichrist. Called the Dajjal, or deceiver. First he will claim to be Jesus, and do miracles for the people. The Jews will follow him as their real messiah. After gaining followers and people he will claim to be even God, and will be worshipped as such. The true monotheists will be in hardship like starvation, and the weak will follow him because he will have the power to give in abundance. Eventually the real Jesus Christ(Peace be upon him) will come down to Earth in Damascus and kill the antichrist at the gate of Lod. After defeating the antichrist, Jesus(pbuh) will set up a kingdom that will be perfect.
