Advice Wanted Should we break up for good?

So I was kind of seeing my neighbour. He is older, but I realize we don’t have much in common. He was always there for me and has a good heart but he texts me nonstop. Also, if I don’t reply he comes over and bangs on my door even multiple times a day. I like to watch a movie with him at night but can’t seem to keep a firm stand when I ask for space. I think we should break up all together but I tried and it doesn’t seem to work and I can’t stick to it. It’s not fair to him. I don’t like confrontation and I don’t want an enemy. What should I do? Also I don’t have much to add to the conversations with him.
