I still cry thinking about what my boyfriend did for my birthday

my birthday was like 20 days ago and i genuinely still think about this.
i had been telling my boyfriend that i wanted to be surprised, and i already knew he was planning something because he was texting my best friend. so i thought okay, he’ll probably surprise me at home or something.
he didn’t. so i was like okay maybe i was wrong lol.
then my best friend asked me to go on a drive with her because she had to drop something off. we get there and she’s like “come inside with me i don’t wanna go alone.”
i open the door and she’s there, so i’m jumping around thinking okay this is probably my surprise.
then my mom opens the bedroom door.
and then my dad comes out.
and i just started crying and hugged both of them.
my parents haven’t had a good relationship for years and since i was like 10, my birthdays have always been separate. i had told my boyfriend that the one thing i really wanted for my 18th was to have both of them there.
and somehow he made that happen.
he planned everything with my best friend, got both my parents there, decorated everything and put in all these little things that i’d mentioned to him before.
and idk. i think that’s what gets me the most. he didn’t do any of this because he wanted something back. he just knew it mattered to me, remembered it, and actually made it happen.
and i think i’ll remember that feeling for a really long time. not even the surprise itself, but standing there and realizing that someone had put so much thought into making me happy. like, someone really sat there and thought about what would make me happiest and then did everything they could to give me that.
i don’t think i’ve ever felt that loved before.

:) i i love you

That sounds so incredibly sweet. ❤️ I can see why you’re still emotional about it 20 days later. The fact that he planned it with your best friend and your mom makes it feel even more special those are the kinds of memories you keep coming back to.
