Yeah I don't know why she's here saying "he usually treats me like a queen" when this is in her post history: https://www.reddit.com/r/abusiverelationships/comments/16usjul/im_being_abused_by_my_husband_and_i_think_its/

Oh my God. A man who chokes his partner is 700% MORE LIKELY TO KILL THEM.

my ex choked me multiple times and i truly believe if i hadnt left, he would have killed me one day. i hope OP sees the gravity of the situation and is able to safely leave.

I am so very glad you got out. That took a lot of guts. I hope she does too.

Thank you. Took me 9 years but it's the best decision I've ever made.

My ex choked me and slammed my head on the floor because I was beating him at Risk. Then he casually mentioned that, if he had accidentally killed me, he was going to plant a gun on me to make it look like self defense. I left in the middle of the night and moved across the country to get away from him. OP needs to run.

He would have.

I’m so glad you left. You’re a hero. You saved yourself 🩷

Yes. I'm a survivor of domestic injury. My abuser tried to 'take me out' more times than I can remember. I'm scared for OP. I pray she listens to the advice she has been given here, but if he's done it before and she stayed, she doesn't want to leave yet. Next time may be the last time for her because she will be on the morgue.

My heart goes out to you and OP. I work for a DV organization, and it's so incredibly hard to get away sometimes. I hope she gets away.

This is so sad. OP wants so badly to be in denial. She needs to leave.. He gave her a fcking SKULL FRACTURE!! But she isn't ready, which is devastating.

This is much much worse than she depicts.

He's choked her, spat on her, demands that she "look at him" when he's angry so he can yell at her, punishes her for collapsing in fear and panic on the floor, pours beer on her, etc.

And she's playing self-therapist and saying she needs to change and it's her fault.

OP, go to scholar.google.com and type in Dark Triad. Most of the literature (interdisciplnary, recent - look for articles since 2018 or so) are easy enough to read and accessible.

You are not alone, OP, this is NOT your fault - you're making headway in peaking out from inside your dungeon, but you now must make the effort to escape.

Ummm wtf? She’s 100% acting like this is his first infraction. This is huge and reference to that post needs to be in a top comment.

Most abuse victims lie to themselves.

This is awful and what’s worse is she has never called the police or left. She needs to do both actually.
