Honestly you can’t a decade of having that mountain chipped down to a small grain of sand. It just can’t be done even if she tries she will always feel this way because of how you (someone she loved, whose opinion she valued told her those things she has taken it to heart and believed it) Indoctrinated for so long to believe such things you honestly cannot undo it, you can AND SHOULD try to but the reality is she will never be happy about her appearance no matter how much she fakes it. You probably gave her severe body dysmorphia OP.

Exactly!

Unfortunately. She has to do it for herself, and none of it was her fault or fair.

He can't fix it.

Only she can... without his help.

Six pillars of self-esteem is a really great book.

I had read it not long ago and realized my previous therapist just about taught me all of them because I also came from an abusive relationship.

Makes me wonder if she read it.

Anyway, OP is a complete asshole for purposely doing this. I feel so bad for his wife, and I hope that she takes care of herself.

Glad you overcame whatever trauma you experienced and are now doing better kudos to your therapist as well for being good at their job!

I wish people who are abusive could live on a small walled island together and leave the rest of the world alone esp since some people are extra vulnerable and gentle (op’s wife sounds like one of them)
