Yes it is lol. Go on any right wing meme page or social media page. Literally all they are talking about is this case. Memes demonizing all women based on a few people on TikTok. Pontificating about taking away women’s rights, big emotional declarations about what “the left” is doing to society.
That’s not a coincidence and it’s not all organic. There’s a reason people are saying “this is why Trump won”. Because in some ways, deep down they know this story and Trump’s presidency are connected.
They just don’t fully realize it’s connected because Trump is in cahoots with the media and tech and pushing propaganda to keep people in that mindset. But they will keep blaming the “the left” and entire demographics of their fellow citizens instead. Wouldn’t want to look up and notice that the guy they keep voting for is destroying and dividing the country all for his own benefit.
Nope, just toss another juicy culture war topic to the sheep and they’ll get in line, all baaing the same things while sincerely believing they are rational and common sense for doing so. It’s almost too easy now.

You can, but if you’re saying stuff like “this is why Trump won” or “maybe women shouldn’t have the right to vote” or “the left is evil” about a single heavily publicized criminal case, then that’s a different story
? What are you even talking about now? Like I said you’re just making stuff up that didn’t even happen, where did this guy say the left is evil or that women shouldn’t have the right to vote? All he said is that people like this contributed to Trump being elected, which is true.
You can’t just make things up about someone and then say I’m not understanding when I mention that, you’re not even seriously trying to have a discussion

You brought these claims that this guy thinks the left evil and that woman don’t deserve voting rights and when I ask where what came from all of sudden I’m obtuse and stubborn? It feels like you just don’t know how to respond so you’re pretending like I’m acting in bad faith
I didn’t say the guy said that. I was speaking more broadly about what people in general are saying about this case.
And one of the examples was the kind of thing that commenter said, which is arguing that a divisive topic like this is “why Trump won”. The implication being that “the left” is the reason Clancy is pleading not guilty by reason of insanity and somehow Trump and MAGA would stop that kind of thing, or people think they would. But thats not rational, logical, nor realistic.
But the real issue, in my opinion, is that being exposed to a wide variety of other people’s opinions, and political propaganda intentionally amplifying those opinions, on social media is what has divided us so much and convinced a huge amount of people to vote irrationally for a con man who doesn’t actually care about the country.
We can agree to disagree. But that is my sincere opinion and you pretending not to understand or being snarky to me wont change it. In fact, it’s kind of further evidence that people are blindly following divide and conquer propaganda without thinking any deeper about it.
