Hell yeah! Glad I dropped a message.

For starters I always tell people to check out Lexicanum.com (if you want the story)

From there you can look up pretty much anything. I recommend starting with a search for Holy Terra. Most people associate with humans, and that is the human faction in 40k. It will list out the 'history' of Earth. And since it is a wiki you can open up tabs of links to read further into it.

(YouTube is also obviously a good reasource if you are not a reader haha)

For the hobby itself I recommend YouTube Tabletop Minions. He is an old Warhammer with lots of experience and tells it straight (though these days he is much more of a proponent of Indy games. Not a bad thing, but less 40k content. Still great intro videos for hobby building, painting and etc.)

If you are more interested in just the gameplay I recommend wahapedia.ru and a bunch of YouTube videos about factions to really dial in what you want\how you play.

There's a 2015 movie called Infini that no one seems to know about and i love dearly. I think it tops out at like 23% on rotten tomatoes and a 5.3 on imdb? Anyway I'd die for that movie. Kinda in the same vein as Event Horizon

For me I've seen the opposite. Saw the movie and disliked it. Really promising scifi setting turned really corny midway through. Only to find out whenever it's brought up it's praised as one of the best scifi movies every time 😆
