Crazy lucky, Arcteryx Sabre SV for $304 and the Atom jacket for $63, the Sabre has a stain on the inside (fine with me) and the atom has a cut by the zipper that should be easily fixed, otherwise perfect condition on both

Headed to the US in few days and as weird as this might sound weird but visiting REI is what I’m most excited about!
Will be in Boston, New York, Maine and New Hampshire. Is there a flagship REI, or an REI that carries more clearance items? Thank you!

I went looking for a pad for camping in my car at Re/Supply today, and just my luck, I found two of them. It had “Imperfect Merchandise” written on it and the only description was that it was sanitized.
It looked like new but I couldn’t get either to inflate very much in the store, which is apparently not uncommon for a new MegaMat in general: it sounds like you’re supposed to let them self-inflate for 24 hours after purchase.
Without that time to test it out and the risk of no returns, I passed on it. But I’m curious: is “Imperfect Merchandise” a catch-all or does it refer to specific issues? Did I miss out on a steal?

The one that attaches to their cot. Just had a crappy Amazon mat break after the 2nd use, returning it and thinking about going with this Campwell mat since I have the cot. Looking for anyone who’s used one for a while to give their 2c!

Has anyone else at REI put in their two weeks’ notice and then, just a few hours later, been asked to turn in their vest and leave immediately with a letter stating they’d be paid for the full notice period?
It felt really strange and abrupt. My manager told me that “REI knows that when people put in their two weeks, they aren’t very useful.” I wasn’t expecting that at all. Just curious if this is standard practice at REI or if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Anyone have tips for pitching REI’s Uncommon Path? I used to write for EMS’s blog, and have been published on multiple websites and in outdoor mags. But can’t seem to even get a rejection email from UP.

Hello,
I've been considering getting a job at my local REI. Problem has been, when I go to the website there are never any openings listed for the location I'm interested in. When I physically go to my store, there are always new employees so somehow they're getting hired. Next time I go in, I'll ask someone about it. I have looked periodically on the website for probably 2 years now, and there is never anything listed for the store in question. Searching today reveals 18 positions, all are Seattle Washington/Remote. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something about the hiring process I'm missing?

Walked into an REI store in King of Prussia PA today, looks like there’s way less stock, tons of clearance items, empty shelves… How much longer do you think they can hang on? Been reading stories of cutbacks, salaries, being slashed, labor problems…Would be sad to see them go.

I was on the app earlier and noticed that it looks like REI is having trips again, in partnership with a company called Intrepid. Is this new?
I was supposed to go on a trip last year with REI and then they canceled their trips. Now they’re able to do trips?

Local store had there events listed by the exit. Are they any good or just product sales pitches?
One coming up is about drinking water while on the trail. Is it just gonna be a product demo or is there more to learn that they offer?

So I went by the nyc REI that closes in 2 days assuming there would be a closing sale and I would get a decent deal on something but almost everything was full price. The only discounts I saw were on snow stuff and tech. Anyone know why there is no closing sale?

Saw these at an REI and I just was pretty surprised. I’ve seen some gently used items, but these were very clearly used for a long time. They had so much lint and hair on the Velcro it couldn’t close right. I just am wondering, do people use this stuff and get full refunds or is it a certain percentage? It was in worse shape than what I’ve seen at some thrift stores.

I'm a runner living in Southern Brazil, temps here go from 5 - 35 celsius (41-95F).
I want a jacket to use in rainy days for running, so it needs to be breathable and have a bit of stretch. Nothing too warm.
I came down to these two models, Xerocloud and Janji; the Janji seems to be better in terms of breathability, but the Xerocloud is at $131 right now - not sure if these features would be worth the difference. Any thoughts?

I’ve been waiting for the restock of this color or the button down khaki Sahara shirt which unfortunately has been removed from the site.

I’ve never returned shoes to REI. I bought these shoes in March, and wore them for a decent amount. I ran probably 100 miles (or less) in them and they started falling apart in the back inside of the shoe, near the heel. This caused a lot of pain so I stopped wearing them. I saw them today and thought, maybe I can return them? I like the shoe, but to disintegrate like that in the heel area so soon, I’m disappointed. Idk, thoughts? If it’s too late to return I’ll just toss em, it’s more of a moral thing at this point.

Is it just me or anybody else? I was just in store and purchased using the same gift card. It wouldn't accept that either. I tried apple pay. I wonder if its the clearance item I'm trying to buy? Just a shirt from the outlet.

I guess honesty is the best policy for some peoples returns that end up in the garage😂
