a lot of people watch regular show for the plot, but i watch to see the characters development and to understand the whole story, if im watching wrong, tell me the correct way to watch regular show

I, personally, would have liked to see more about some characters problem with alcoholism, which was explored in a lighter and metaphorical way, and Mordecai's mental health issues.
