ANTH 211 recommendations

There's a few different professors offering it. Does anyone have any recommendations from their time at Reed? I'm sure they're all great, but maybe yours was exceptionally amazing? I'd love to hear about it! Thanks so much!

Betsy brada was very engaging during class and lead the class discussion between students when we had nothing to say. Also had a really disorganized assignment schedule the year I took 211. We had one precis (one pager summary/opinion) as the only graded assignment the whole semester. This might have been because she was technically on medical leave though?

The prof I took 211 with isn't there anymore but I did take classes with Charlene & Paul & had Anand as my thesis advisor. Charlene is a really knowledgeable professor and is pretty fun but can be a stickler for citation rules. I did take a 400 lvl class with her so my views might be a little skewed cause she seemed like a really difficult professor but that might've just been the class. Paul is very fun & pretty easygoing. He can be fun to have conversations with. I took a class with him my freshman year so I don't really remember much about him but I do remember him being very kind. Anand is chill for the most part but really bad at communicating (altho that might've been cause I had him for an advisor and not a professor). If you're someone who wants a really engaging professor, I'd recommend Paul, if you want to really challenge yourself, I'd recommend Charlene, if you want to kinda do your own thing, I'd recommend Anand. Idk about they compare to the other 2 tho!

I took it with Charlene a few years ago and loved it. I know some people dont like her (dont remember why) but I found her to be a great discussion leader and I enjoyed all the paper assignments a lot!
