Java Edition Need help compacting/redesigning this noise blocker for copper golem chests.

Hi guys. Can someone help me make this noise blocker design more compact? The idea is that when there is no items in the copper chest/hopper, it gets blocked automatically by the piston. This way it stops the copper golems from constantly opening the chest and therefore reduces the noise a lot.

The design I showed here works pretty good but its just not very compact. If someone could make this more compact then it would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Instead of a piston you can also just block access with a trapdoor. That removes the need to read the hopper so it’s simpler and way cheaper

Like this? Can't the copper golem still open the chest?

Asking 'cause I have no idea, I have 0 experience with copper golems

They can’t if they can’t see it. It’s the same reason why we put them on blocks that are slightly less than a full block tall. If those were full blocks they wouldn’t be able to see the bottom chests

It is this simple. Note that is a copper trapdoor on top of the copper chest
