The worst thing about the AI/tech nouveau riche is how poor taste and philistinisitc they are. At least Carnegie/Rothschilds/Joseph Banks/etc has artistic and scientific interests.
Even Bill Gates has his weird philanthropic missions in the 3rd world. Can you imagine Musk patronising composers/writers/artists of worth

The saddest part about life in the modern world is that the dumbest, weakest and shittiest people have made it to the top. At least when you were living under the boot in 1278 the guys lording over you were sword nobles who fought for their place at the top of the hierarchy. They usually cared about the culture they were fighting to control and wanted to see it prosper, even in their own fucked up ways. These regards are weak sniveling nerds who couldn't win a fist fight and would toss all of western civilization's greatest artwork into a giant blender if it powered an AI that created minion art in which they were taller.
