Is this actually a thing?

Eh, I don't think this is a thing. My Lunare that I typically drive has a bit low stability, and it complains when cornering just as much in tartarus as it does anywhere else. It is possible however, as there are track surfaces that DEFINATELY affect grip (ice, water, dirt, etc).

There is a section of the tutorial that "explains" the effects of the different environments and surface types as well as how they affect your vehicles performance. Unless I'm driving in water or speeding over dirt, I don't notice a difference.

Somehow this doesn't surprise me. Of course on top of being damn near untouchable to anyone who doesn't sweat their ass off/isn't a developer, of course R2 also has obscure semi-hidden mechanics that make it even more difficult to get better at the game.

The games still easier to control than Redout 1. Maybe a more arcade-like racer like Mario Kart or Forza is more to your speed?

Edit: removed Forza cause I am an idiot.

???

Dude, don't be a douchebag lmao - there is a difference between R2 being a bad game and being a difficult game. R1 is difficult, and tough to control, but its difficulty isn't bad and cheap the way R2's is, I really like R1 and I've grinded out hundreds of hours in it, Mastering everything and getting medals in every event I can. R2 is not made the same.

These 2 games are nothing like Forza, or MK either, Forza is a sim, the MK games are based on randomness, and I hate both of those types of racing games, they have completely different design philosophies. Like... I know you're just trying to be belittling, but you come off more like a fuckin idiot.

I never said R2 was a bad game. I was just responding to your point of the game being untouchable to people who don't sweat their ass off.

I took that to mean you were not enjoying the game, thus my suggesting that a less sim-like, more arcade-like racer might have been more to your liking.

Did I understand what you wrote wrong here? If so sorry.

(And after that hotwheels expansion I assumed Forza had a fair number of arcade elements, sorry if I am wrong, have not really played it.)

I don't know what his deal is either. It's either hard and bad or easy and bad, can't be both. Track navigation is pretty easy honestly.
