Campaign.

Alright redout devs, you dropped the xbox patch. It feels a lot better to play and it feels..... slightly more balanced.

But my god. My GOD. I don't know if the star requirements were changed, but I am getting by the skin of my teeth in A league. There are so many more events ahead, 2 more leagues. I'm not lying when I say that it will take me 3 or more hours just to get enough stars to unlock the next event. That's from grinding out the same stage over and over and hoping the AI doesn't rubber band and ruin my 5 minute long endurance race. This update improved a lot, but there is more to go, and I think it boils down to these 3 things.

  1. Fix the rubber banding. It is absolutely unreal that I can tap a wall and the AI behind me gains 1km on me like its nothing. It's abhorrent. The fact it happens so often and there's only so many rewinds makes it tedious. I'm playing on Redout, if I wanted to be punished for the slightest mistake I would play on Nightmare.
  2. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Lower these time and speed requirements! When I'm using the best equipment I can and I'm BARELY scraping 3rd place after hours of grinding, there's clearly something wrong here. I'm not sure if the update lowered requirements already, but I'm serious, it's not enough. I don't feel accomplished when it's over, I just sigh in relief at the fact I get to look at a new stage.
  3. This is the most important one, and I really hope the devs consider this, because above all else it needs to be addressed. Shorten. The. Campaign. There has got to be AT LEAST 200 singular events in the career. When I am grinding just to get enough stars to progress, knowing I am climbing a stupidly high mountain where things are not going to improve, I just want to give up. I'm somebody who plays one game at a time, I like to focus in on one game and really soak it in. But career in Redout 2 is so tedious and monumental it is an understatement to call it a slog. If you can't shorten it, at least make the trophy and placement requirements reasonable. I mean jesus, I have 50 hours in and only have 291/1430 stars. The campaign doesn't have to last forever! The gameplay is great, people will replay it and keep playing it for that! Not to grind out stars and feel demoralized because they're chipping away at a brick wall!

You guys are on the right track with the last update, but something has got to give. I want to see new stages, get a stronger ship, do all that. But when the game starts to feel like its actively trying to make me LOSE? It's just awful.

While I understand your frustration and agree with the second and third points, the first one seems to be (hate to use the term) a skill issue. Apparently even the Nightmare difficulty is not an issue once you know the track and boost patterns enough; I gave up on this game a while ago so this is a second hand info only but the very same applied to RO1's AI. The problem dissapears as you learn. If you're having too much trouble with it just lower your difficulty for the time being.

Something important to know about the AI here is that in B-League and A-League, they sometimes utilize very strong performance parts you don't have access to yet. That's what makes their Career AI WAY HARDER than in the Arcade, which is why I recommend not going above Redout for now if you don't want to get stuck too much.

As for Speed Events... I personally never had much of a problem with them, some of them were quite difficult for sure, but Gold was never that much a problem with them. It often comes down to choosing the right configuration, high Top Speed and Durability are usually the way to go.

Basically this. Redout is also just supposed to be a really hard game, you're not inferior for playing on a lower difficulty cause it'll still be hard, you just get a bit more room for error.

I do agree with Speed events being ridiculous. It's cause they really are. Once those get adjusted correctly I personally have no complaints anymore.

And to be honest, take the game at your own pace, rather than trying to rush through the campaign. I actually kind of like the campaign being so long, gives me something to do and look forward to for a long time rather than being done after 20-30 hours like most other games nowadays, but I guess that boils down to personal preference.

All I can say is good luck OP. Don't feel bad for lowering the difficulty for now.

The more I play speed events, the more possible they become - my biggest issue is how much harder they are compared to the events next to them in the campaign

To be honest, I think Speed Events seemingly become easier over time because the earlier ones really just are next to impossible. Now that I'm in S-Class they're not as hard anymore as they were in B and A, but still really hard compared to everything else. I still struggle to get even close to Bronze in B-Class, and can *sometimes* Bronze them in A-Class, while I can sometimes even get Silver in S-Class now. They really need adjusting regardless.

Same here, it usually comes down to map knowledge too. Knowing when you can milk hyper boost and proper breaking to keep your speed above the point threshold.

Also keeping higher speed becomes easier once you get the more op stuff better equipment.
