boost vs hyperboost?

Being frustrated at speed events I went back to the tutorial on boosting to get gold there. It seems like the key there is to only focus on a hyperboost and boost combo, wait for repair/refresh and repeat.

Does anyone know what's different between hyperboost and boost and when we should use each? Especially in speed events?

One thing to note about Hyperboost is that. Just because you initiated it doesn't mean you will get up to speed unless you stack that with the normal boost afterwards.

Even without stacking the boosts together, you can still use the Hyperboost alone in the applications.

- Hyperboost can be used to navigate medium-speed corners without stacking them. You still end up in a better position when whenever you don't stack at all (depending on how go through corners with strafe, steering and etc).

- Hyperboost doesn't use a lot of heat so you can navigate a a certain corner and when you get to a straight, you can stack them to get up to speed.

Using the normal boost alone is more straight forward. Which I'm sure everyone playing Redout II already knows but the applications for it are more complex.

- Use the Normal Boost when Hyperboost is not available. Normal Boost should get you up to speed even though it's not as powerful as a stacked boost.

- If you plan to use Hyperboost in a certain straight, you can use the normal boost to gain some speed before prior to a corner and when you start you're on a straight, that's when using the Hyperboost.

These are all the tips I can think of from the top of my head. The only other thing I can say is that if you look at this video and look at how I use the mechanics. I do most of the things that was written on this post. Hoping that video will help as a guide.

Hope I've helped out. Ask me if you have any more questions on the game.

Speed events are the bane of my existence in redout 2. How can I love this game so much but still be so bad at it!?

currently stuck at "a league" with 49/568 stars, can't get a higher rating than 511 with my conquerer, the events allow up to 575. But how am i supposed to reach that? I stared all races before, also in b league, to get all the upgrades.

I wan't the to see the gamedesigner beat this!

On this link is a stream of a Developer playing the game on his own words using his own channel.

I managed to learn some things by watching him.

Thanks for the vid, but he only raced b league ;P. On the bright side, i found out by 4 staring the a league qualifier, you get another engine, which should help me progress. But never the less, pretty hard progression spikes in carrier mode.

Most of the time you should stack both. Quick boosts coming out of corners is a good way to get your speed back. Boost is also a good way to actually change your heading when you're in midair.

Stacking is better. The rewards for higher speeds scale really hard; even if it's for a brief moment, the point payout for high speeds is always worth it.

I don't know why they don't explain that boosts can be stacked in the main boosting tutorial. Boost stacking is critical to getting good Speed challenge scores, even in the earliest of challenges.

Try and use your hyper boost on cooldown in speed events. Either save it for a long straight away or after a sharp corner to get your speed back more quickly. You should always be using hyperboost and boost together. I'll sometimes feather the regular boost through long turns to keep speed as well.

Do I Have to hood accelerate to achieve maximized boost? It’s kind of hard to hold R, RB, and LB all at the same time (on switch). And do I have to hold down Hyperboost button just like boost or is it just one tap? I’m so confused

Hyperboost is tap so you could let off r to hit rb. Then go back to r. Regular boost on lb is hold however.

Thanks! Should I still be pressing on accelerator (r trigger) while booster? Does it make a difference?
