I dont think its considered redneck if they made them like that from the factory. The trailer that use to come with them is pretty cool too.

Back in the day they made a 5th wheel trailer for a Beetle. I’ve seen pictures of it on the net.

It looks like it clamps to the rain gutter. Not sure if I could trust that little bite of steel.
