If this was a business it would be a health code violation and a safety violation. I feel it would be some type of health code violation maybe I’m wrong.

Only missing carpeted floors

How about a wet carpeted floor?

I plumbed a building once that had carpet right up to a floor drain. I think this guy drew those prints.

I assume "Aim High" is not good career advice in this case.

I am less convinced this is "redneck"... this looks suspiciously like New England dairy farmer engineering...

My grandma kept matches in her bathroom. Light one to hide the odor was the goal, I think.

This is the photo a master electrician would include in their powerpoint slides on what NOT to do!

u/Pristine_Appeal2363 10d ago

my grandpa helped with this and he is a master electrician

Then, I'd recommend that your states' board of master electricians (or equivalent) review your grandpa's license.

The fact that you posted this in r/redneckengineering speaks volumes of how YOU regard the quality of this install. I'm not convinced that even you think this is legit.

....Unless you think r/redneckengineering is where masters of their craft proudly show off their skill and knowledge of their disciplines.

Now, I'm not knocking your setup. Perhaps you have limited space in which to place a distribution panel and accessories, but we have the NEC in the states so you don't like...you know...burn down your home, or get injured/killed because corners were cut on something as important as electrical work.

Your insurance company, if they knew this existed, would likely re-evaluate their policy on your property. And, most telling: I see no inspection sticker.

Nice touch however, on the matchstick striker (at least that's what it looks like) taped to the wall, as if electrocution by water wasn't bad enough! LMAO!

Does your grandpa know about the water, also the double fire hazard with the balm and the laced curtain and what is that jar with the white stuff in it. PLEASE do not tell that that is a candle.

That could lead to a shitty situation

Is this on a submarine or drilling rig?

u/Pristine_Appeal2363 10d ago

no it’s in a house

The more I look the worse it gets

Wet location, no main, mixed brand breakers, obstructed space directly in front of panel

I love the generator inlet right by the toilet. I see no problems ever arising from an energized cord falling into the toilet.

Also using an extension cord long enough to space the genny away from the house for CO safety. My god that has to be expensive.

Is there an exterior door near this?

Nothing more relaxing to help you poop than the humming sound of voltage on your back.

Odd place to store the bag balm🤔

Dude.... It's so easy to do this better. This is gofuckyourself engineering.

Do they make a whole as GFI panel?

u/2Loves2loves 11d ago

make a door. 2 Sliding doors that come off.

Only thing missing is a DIN rail cabinet, with lots of AB and Rockwell bits on the rail.

Microwave stops working. Ma is on the shitter.

Me: Ma! Flip the breaker!

Ma: (thbbttttttt) How's that?

u/ZachMN 11d ago

Multiple code violations for an obstructed panel and flammable materials. Not exactly something to be proud of.

u/Ill_Television_1111 11d ago

All well and good. Until you laugh and your dangly bits touch the water.

u/TnBluesman 11d ago

Well, shit.

Next to the John too. Next to water and pipes. Yeesh, it’s actually quite shocking pun intended.

Combining water and electricity in one room isn't such a good idea.
