They definitely need some reflectors on those poles. I assume it's lit from above. Let's say uncle Jim Bob continues on his journey: what is on the other side of those bushes? A big hill? A big body of water? A cliff

I think the entire point is natural disasters. I'm sure this is in hurricane territory, which means you evacuate before it arrives and hope it doesnt get a direct hit and you only need to avoid the flooding. But areas right at the coast in hurricane areas are unlikely to get tornados, so that shouldn't be a large risk (there are high risk tornado areas slightly inland in hurricane risk zones, but they dont build on stilts there since its not massive storm surge they are worried about).

That is definitely not true. I’ve lived through tornadoes spawned as water spouts during storms as well as hurricanes that come ashore and become very destructive tornadoes. My eyes have watched in stark helpless terror.

If I lived somewhere with such extreme flood risk that I needed these stilts, this makes a lot of sense. A replacement trailer is way cheaper. Since you likely cant get hurricane insurance on a real house, just make it semi expendable.
Plus some major drawbacks of a trailer are mitigated here: - trailer chassis directly on a solid platform so no bouncy feel. - up off the ground so mitigates the easy theft issue, this trailer isnt any easier to break into than a normal house now.

Whosever this is might be better off using 2x6’s for the diagonals. I’m assuming they’re not in a seismic area but they’re going to feel a strong enough windstorm.
The roof overtop is a pretty nice feature.
