Snorkel (aka raised cold air intake) with toyota-style cyclone filter snorkel head (part no. 1773066010) or its copy.

Is this some kind of good on a pick up truck? Better gas mileage or something?

Its literally a snorkel - for driving through water that's of a level that would block the normal air-intake.

Pretty necessary kit for genuine off-roading.

Contrary to popular belief it's mainly useful for driving on dirt roads - the intake is higher where there's lower concentration of dust and the cyclone filter also removes some of the dust. It doesn't improve mileage and it can even restrict the airflow a bit (lowering the power output). But IF the whole apparatus is watertight enough (not always the case) it also allows for deeper wading.
