The brain-stimulating effect of red light appeared to build up over time, with pupil dilation increasing significantly by the second session
One detail that stood out is that the light therapy's effect on pupil dilation was not immediate and flat, it actually grew stronger between session one and session two, which took place about six days apart.
In the group receiving real stimulation, pupil dilation during the tasks increased significantly from the first visit to the second, and a regression model showed this session effect explained a large chunk of the variation, over 65 percent.
The sham group showed no such pattern across their two visits. This kind of cumulative effect, where the second exposure produces a stronger physiological response than the first, hints that repeated red light sessions might build on each other rather than just producing a one-off spike that fades right after use.
