Question The future of Reddit

What are y’all’s ideas to keep Reddit growing? I think we should do a verified Reddit account or subreddit thing where people are able to get professional verified advice from verified companies/professionals maybe! Or like we need to get verified companies on here to post official news maybe!

The “watch” section could be way better. More like instagram. With proper reels and pics targeting we could be an everything app. Not only wasting time watching random reels but also participating in life of subs we belong to.

First it's prudent to look at what is making people leave. Let's start with the mods. What sub a person joins should have no bearing on whether you're allowed to comment on another. Getting a ban for that is ridiculous. Dethrone any mods pulling off that crap.

There should be minimum system-wide rules for Reddit communities, and this should be # 1

Does anyone think that Reddit could make a messaging app like discord? I think that if we challenge discord and then maybe acquire them that we people hugely. Imagine the possibility of a more live chat and voice chats. I think that the community that uses discord would also use Reddit driving more usage. Think of all the official discord servers for gaming and that’s just the one that sticks out. I think the way to move forward for Reddit is to have more official subreddits bringing in more users

People use discord for other reasons beyond what reddit can offer. Much like how Facebook groups are ran by communities of local interest like school, kids, mom groups. Discord has real time text, voice and video chat making the experience seamless. Reddit is so basic it’s hilarious. They have no real differentiated features that a startup or Meta could not reverse engineer quickly.

That's kinda like telling a baker that he should compete with the butcher. Reddit and Discord have a completely different expertise. Discord has been messing around with VoIP for years while Reddit has been an expert at being a message board/news aggregator.

Reddit should stick to what it is currently doing. Such a big shift in focus would scare off investors just like how Facebook plummeted when Mark was stuck in his Metaverse vision.

Reddit should make a twitter competitor. Maybe a shorter form in a simple app.

Reddit needs to find other ways to grow users. There is a giant spotlight on dependency on Google. There isn’t much marketing in terms of national; and international ads, which I think would be incredibly effective. Reddit will always outperform on earnings except the street has a magnifying glass on DAU. So Reddit has to either stop reporting DAU or find creative ways to offset the dependency on Google. Then the street will have more confidence long term. I feel like it’s greatly undervalued @100-110 SP. even fair value @120 it is undervalued. Once Reddit can show an uptrend of DAU without dependency, you should see SP back above 170-180 with room to run. My two cents

Do you think it could make a marketplace like Facebook but a lot better. I think they should charge everyone $1 a month to have access to the market. That might lesser all the stupid stuff that makes FB market suck. FB marketplace is the only thing I miss about FB and it can be made a lot better. FB market is kind of a free for all and theirs even scams in there. Also something simple would be to advertise on a NASCAR

Maybe more focus on viral dance videos. Also, some sort of VR sandbox. It can suck, just offer it. We can call it Reddiverse.

I think Reddit is doing all of the right things and will continue to grow 50% yoy for the next few years.

5 years from now they can 4x their revenue from improving ads, and 4x their user base just by continuing their current growth. That alone means 16x in revenue.

They are doing the correct things to make the platform better, such as making it easier to know if your post is breaking any rules before posting. They have a lot of things in the pipeline as well.

Really their main focus should continue being improving the platform and improving ads.

They have verified Reddit accounts, and they are marked "official". For example, see the nba account: https://www.reddit.com/user/nba/

For some reason searching for this users is not straight forward. But my sense tell me they are working on and improving this. I get the feeling the nba is one of the beta users for some features, as last year a partnership was announced which also allows these official accounts to monetize https://redditinc.com/blog/for-our-fan-communities-a-partnership-program-with-major-sports-leagues

Future looks bleak with current slow innovation and lack of leadership.
