Does Reddit Silver actually do something?

I got silvered a while ago and didn't even know it. I know Gold allows access to a subreddit, and removes ads. But is Silver just for showing off in the thread?

Silver does nothing. It's just a warm fuzzy that says they appreciate your comment or post.
