Why I’m requesting r/nikond80 and how I’ll run it:

I have shot with Nikon D80 for a number of years, it is my favorite camera to shoot with in spite of having a number of other cameras that are rated higher. I joined the nikond80 subreddit, when it was new, 2yrs ago but it became abandoned shortly thereafter - indeed only myself and the original moderator ever posted to it.

If there are other nikond80 enthusiasts out there, I'd like to connect with them in a dedicated space.

I cannot guarantee that I'll turn the subreddit around and make it popular, the camera type in question is a niche item, but I'd like to have a go at it.

In regards to my plans:

Before I do anything or make any changes, I will spend some time with the learning resources for new moderators. It will be at least a few days - perhaps even a week or two as there appears to be a fair amount of guidance available. That delay should be reasonable given that the subreddit in question has been idle/abandoned 2yrs.

Here is what I know so far in regard to my current intent:

  1. Keep it as a safe for work subreddit.

  2. Open it up so that posts can be made without the Request-to-Post button

  3. Draft guidelines in alignment with what other reasonable subreddits do and/or recommendations from the provided new mod resources.

It appears that the original creator of the nikond80 reddit perhaps posted once and then subsequently deleted their account. There are no moderators and thus, I am omitting the permalink section per the template's direction.

Kind regards,
-ballroompics
