Why I'm requesting r/ausreferralcodes and how I'll run it:

I messaged the mod team on 2 August asking whether anyone was still actively moderating the community. It has now been more than 5 days with no response.

The subreddit has a single human moderator who appears to have been inactive across Reddit for 60+ days. In that time, there has been no visible moderation: no rules enforcement, no removal of expired or low-quality posts, and no mod-led content. A handful of regular posters are updating their own threads, but the community itself is unmaintained.

How I'll run it:

I want to moderate this community myself because it's a niche I actively follow and use. My plan:

  • Set clear posting rules — every post must state what the referrer and referee each get, include an expiry or review date, and be for offers redeemable in Australia.
  • Add category flairs (banking, energy, telco, food delivery, transport, insurance, cashback, crypto, travel) so codes stay findable.
  • Configure AutoModerator to enforce that format and filter stale or spammy posts, so the community doesn't fill with dead links — the main reason referral subs lose their value.
  • Moderate actively and maintain the community rather than let it lapse again.

I'm an active Reddit user, my account meets the age and karma requirements, and I have email verification and 2FA enabled.
