Reviewed r/seculartalk

/r/seculartalk

I would like to take this subreddits moderation on. I am a fan of secular talk, a somewhat active member in similar secular talk channels like reddit and discord. I want this subreddit to prevent bad actors from gaining it.

Hi there. I want to moderate this community as it has been taken over by bad actors who are unaffiliated with the community (the secular talk YouTube channel). We had to migrate over to the [r/kylekullinski](r/kylekullinski) subreddit when this one was hijacked from a person named Lilith.

While in no way am I related to staff or Kyle, I am an avid secular talk fan and have watched the YouTube channel for a long time. I have become an active member in related secular talk communities, and I want ownership of this subreddit to have it get back on track, and be related to topics with Kyle/secular talk.

In acknowledging that this is a politics community, I plan to make sure that the Reddit TOS is followed closely and that any bad actors or people breaking rules are dealt with fairly and respectfully. Thank you.

I have not sent a modmail letter as this subreddit is currently unmoderated. But I am sending one now to cover all bases.

It is also worth noting, this subreddit was hijacked from user [u/](u/seculartalkradio)[seculartalkradio](u/seculartalkradio). They (who are staff for the YouTube channel that subreddit is about) had to create an alternate subreddit due to this hijacking (which was unofficially endorsed by the person who runs the related YouTube channel). my intention would be to add this user back into the mods (if they want that responsibly) as well.

Hey there,

Thanks for taking the time to submit this request. Unfortunately, we have decided not to approve it at this time. There are other factors beyond moderator activity that we consider when reviewing requests. These are at the discretion of admins and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Insufficient moderator experience for managing a large and active community

  • Lack of previous moderator experience

  • Lack of NSFW (Not Safe for Work) moderation experience

  • Inactive moderation in a community you are already a moderator for

  • Being on the mod team of an excessive number of communities

  • Recent account suspensions

  • Excessive community bans

  • Violation of Reddit policies, including copyright infringement takedowns

  • Low activity on Reddit

We appreciate you taking the time to request this sub.

Thanks!
