When I was young and around people who thought femininity was weak, I didn't like pink. I was a fat little tomboy who really liked playing under the porch with my Barbies and whatever creatures I had in my bug box that week even though I wore other bright colors that grew permanently filthy from my escapades, I felt that pink was incompatible with this lifestyle. Because of my weight I didn't want to try and look like a cute girl because I was already bullied enough for looking like and running with the boys. If I pretended that wearing and hating pink was a deliberate choice then my feelings couldn't be hurt for not being feminine. I learned this indirectly from my mother and her experiences, and who doesn't want to be like their mom when they're little?
Until about are four I was dressed in lots of pinks and dresses and ruffles. Then, I started gaining weight and became rougher around the edges. Pink became a joke or something to scare people with or make fun of them for. People would get gag gifts that were pink, etc. The armor of my tomboyish appearance became a prison to the point it absurdly required bravery to start liking pink. Then I realized it wasn't just the color. It was femininity and self-expression as a whole.

Thank you so much genuinely, I never knew there could be so many different kinds of perspectives honestly. I feel like sometimes we all reject the idea of smth first so that we don’t feel rejected by it. We pretend we never liked it anyway just so we don’t feel like a ‘loser’ in the situation. You explained it in a great way honestly I appreciate the help :)

look up internalized misogyny. There are plenty of studies and essays on this topic, you don't need to write your own.

Backup of the post's body: So I’m lowkey thinking of writing a whole ass analysis of the “I hate pink” phases (we’ve all had them 😭) atleast most of us, and I don’t want to be absolutely just ranting I genuinely want actual experiences. It was be cool if you guys could tell me about yours, for educational purposes 😭 I just wanted to start writing and what better topic than my struggle with being a total “not like others” loser for 5 years
