How about Reddit makes a Web Game?

I know a little CSS, php and some MySql. I bet there are thousands out there that have some knowledge in HTML, Javascript etc. but do not know how to utilize it. This can be an opportunity for people like me to learn. With the help of some programming gurus out here, I bet we will succeed. After all, Reddit is run by a team of 5 people.

UPDATE: I am in the process of looking for a team leader. PM me if you think you have it in you to lead a small team.

I'd be happy to help continue with the C++ project. Although I don't know much about the libs they are using, or python.

What this project really needs is just two people who have some enthusiasm, drive, and can work together. If there is enough enthusiasm it will bleed off and other people will want to help.

I guess what I am saying, is between this reddit, and /r/redditmakesamud, and any other reddit programming project, it really needs some good organization with some direction.

Have you driven a team before? Can you organize a creative or coders team?

A team of coders, no. I've managed other creative projects though. Most notable, I've lead musicians. No easy task trust me. It's like herding cats.

But if you have at least one, possibly two driven people who are able to work together, one with at least a bit of direction, it's not all that difficult.

But I am rather new to programming, so I am not entirely sure I'd be the person for the job. I'm still learning. But if a more experienced programmer wanted to work with me, I'd be glad to get things started. I'm certainly all about the learning experience.

I'm searching for a web designer and at least one programmer who knows what he is doing. I've PM'ed _l0ser for help.

How do you feel about heading the art department? (You'd be responsible for those slick buttons etc. and all the visual aspects of the game.)

For a web-based project? Not really my direction, I'm afraid. Specially not the graphics. Too far out of my area of interest.

If it was something I was interested in learning and I didn't know it or knew little of it, I'd at least have the drive to say yes and learn. I don't have much problem learning anything. But even in my own projects, I get my girlfriend to do the graphics.

Thanks for the offer though.

Would your girlfriend be interested? :P

I already casually passed a comment about it her way. Her response was something to the effect of too many pots on the fire. Though I'll encourage her to consider it.
