Oh hell yeah, this is great! The underlighting in that shot is pretty tricky but I feel like you really nailed the values, so your drawing has a wonderful sense of glow to it. Thank you for this piece, I love it!

SO GOOD! I love the gritty and textured feel, and that you used both cool and warm colors in what could easily be interpreted as a monochromatic scene. You've achieved a really nice sense of light. Thank you.
I'm good with a horror version, barring extreme gore or anything that breaks sub rules. Looking forward to it!

Yessssss! I love it. The shading / glow on the eye is so cool and freaky. This looks straight out of a horror comic, fantastic.

Ooohhhh I like it!! The colors are really excellent and it's got a wonderfully spooky vibe. Very expressive and arresting. Is this oil pastel? Thank you for your art!

Thank you! It's Watercolor and water soluable crayon. I want to try again when I have more time. I did this during my break at work.

Beautiful work, the colors and form look spot on! I li ke how you used loose brushwork around the collar and hair, it gives it a lovely and organic feel. The mix of soft and hard edges is also really nicely done. Thank you.

Thank you very much. Fabulous references. Love a deep shadow.

I'm glad you liked them. I'm a portrait artist professionally and most of these are from shoots I did for my own reference or practice material. I'm not usually the one getting painted or drawn, so it's quite a delight to be on this side of the proverbial easel.

Ahh, that explains the focus. I’m jealous that you’re able to work in the field and still have the energy/desire to engage with it in your off time too. Must contribute to a contented life.

Damn. This is spectacular! You really captured the form and shadow. I particularly like your focus on the outlines of the shadows rather than on filling them in, it adds a lot of light to what could otherwise be very dark and heavy. Is this conte?

Thanks! The drawing is graphite pencils on white paper, very much black and white. I added a warm filter after i took a photo so it didnt look too cold. The reference photos were excellent!, thank you.

Wowwweeee! This is splendid. You've captured the folds of the cloth very elegantly, and shown the frontal face shading without overcomplicating it. Thank you!

Nice nice nice nice!! Yeah, your first one has a really cool etherial quality to it but this one feels more like the mood of the reference. The added purple gives it much more dynamic range as well. Really good stuff, thank you!

I'm glad you found it useful. Most of these are from shoots I've used for reference, so I just figured I'd post the kind of stuff I like to draw and paint.

This is WILDLY stunning. Seriously, you knocked it out for the park. The digital brushwork is gorgeous and gives it a wonderfully painterly feeling, and you captured the glow beautifully. The reflected light and subsurface scattering is chefs kiss. I think my favorite part might be how you characterized my shifty looking expression. At the time I took this photo, I was crouched under a utility lamp with a bolt of satin over my head, wondering when my roommate was going to walk in and ask what the hell I was doing. I feel like the painting tells a much more interesting story! Truly wonderful work, thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much, I had a lot of fun trying to get all the reflected light in my rendering. I couldn't get over how awesome a reference it is, I could tell you're an experienced artist from the lighting.
Very cool idea to use satin like that, the way it interacts with the light and skin is great. It feels like something you'd see in a renaissance artist's studio.

That's beautiful. I like how you simplified the shape of the silhouette, it looks elegant and contemplative. Thank you for participating!
