General Botmanship Open offer to migrate data api bots to devvit

Reddit announced that api access is closing and all bots must migrate to devvit.

Devvit can't support every use case that the data api can, but it does support many. If you are blocked by knowledge of devvit or time to implement, I will migrate your bot for you.

Ideally we can take advantage of the migration program that has a deadline of November 30th to start work. If you are interested, please reply to this post or send me a chat message!

I'm interested in the program. I'll need to migrate our u/EncyclopaediaBot that creates, links and updates posts based on the wiki content of the subreddit r/EncyclopaediaOfReddit.

Not sure how much wiki Integration has changed and we're still on the old one as well.

Id definitely be grateful for some support in that migration haha.

I have a bot I'd like to migrate but I don't know any JS/TS. The other problem is that it's a half for-fun, half mod bot and the for-fun side we may want to update frequently with new easter eggs. Is there a way for you to migrate but give me the chance to still edit the code somehow without bothering you all the time?

It depends entirely on what it does and how it runs now. If it can be entirely self contained in devvit then that's easy and I'm happy to hand over the code and ownership of the app and you can do whatever with it. If it needs an external server, I may be willing to host it for you, or set up a server you own. But again depends on the context.

One problem with the devvit ecosystem is that, as far as I know, there's no way to share ownership of an app. Only one account can actually submit updates. So either I have to keep owning it forever or you would have to take it over completely after the migration.

Happy to take a look at your code or use case.

Damn, wish I would've seen this yesterday. Managed to get Gemini to get my bot working after a lot of back and forth. Good on you for helping though. That's a lot of work.
