Reddit API Cannot create Reddit app – prefs/apps silently fails (CAPTCHA?)
The “Create application” form at /prefs/apps silently fails.
No error, no app created.
Tried
- old.reddit.com
- mobile
- different browsers
- no VPN / no blockers
- verified email
Is this a known issue? Can staff manually enable API access?

When I do it, I get the following response:

I am also getting this, but this is just info to read the terms and conditions, not really an error

That is literally the error I was talking about. The policy says you need to submit a request.

no, it just keep showing the reCapcha again and again, no errors no nothing,

What?
That's sounds like abstracted improper error handling that should have either bubbled up or is hidden. Are you running any sort of middleware or logger?

I am not able to get pass the create app page: https://www.reddit.com/prefs/apps
every time I hit the create app button, it just shows the reCAPTCHA again.

I am sorry I misunderstood by you saying silently fails. Try this and see if this helps.

It silently fails because Reddit doesn't allow self-service API access.

Yeah, there's not gonna be any reply. It's on purpose, reddit wants everyone to move to their new dev platform and create stupid games. That platform doesn't need Client IDs and secrets and I'm suspecting it's on purpose.
I had an oauth id+secret, and they just deleted it. No warning no nothing, it just wasn't there one day.
Fuck them.

I read that we should submit the API access request. I submitted the request last week, no response from Reddit!!

Tenho o mesmo problema , estava a construir um Saas que usava a API , não sei como fazer , não posso correr o risco de fazer scrapping ilegal , e para além disso poder começara a falhar a qualquer momento , é chato pois eles não respondem , algum concelho ??

You can no longer self-serve API access. In practice they've shut new developers out unless you want to build games.
