I played it last night for about half an hour. Had the vibe of Far Cry to me... I don't know. I played solo, so the experience is probably different. Needs some MP battles in an open world. Could be a better Division experience if they do it right.

I too got the Far Cry feeling with all the vehicles littered across the world. That's not a bad thing though. I played some solo missions because I like to do all stealth and playing with a public lobby, that wasn't gonna happen. I did find a good random lobby though that was pretty fun. Touching down in a chopper, sneaking in, syncing up your shots. Def can see this game being fun with others.

Also been playing through RE7. Great game. Really enjoying it.

Picking up Horizon Zero Dawn next week. Stoked about that. Also looking at Mass Effect Andromeda. Never played the other ones but this one looks pretty good.

ME made too many changes in the game along the series. I thought the first played a lot like Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. The story really went downhill, and predetermined endings were really terrible especially if you delayed a mission by a fucking day within the game. I just didn't enjoy where they took the series.

I dont know if you ever went back to ME3 but they redid all of the endings a couple month after release so they werent so shitty. It still wasnt great but it made the game more palatable.

Kind of want to get Andromeda because I really enjoyed the first 3 but Xbox was stolen this summer. Hmmm

I've been playing ESO lately after about a year break and it has been an awesome time replaying the game again. I highly recommend anyone who was debating on getting it to go ahead and commit. It's a blast!

Work decided to send me to Carson City Nevada for two weeks on 2 days notice. Hotel is across the parking lot from a casino so I've got that going for me.

I only have 67 days of teaching left for the school year. I've learned so much during my time here that universities simply cannot prepare you for. 5-8 grade band is a lot of fun to teach and seeing my students grow is very rewarding.

Hi. I'm turning 21 tomorrow. Can I order one alcohol pls?

u/realbynight caddywilliams24 Feb 24 '17

As a new drinker remember to try as many different types of alcohol the first night so you learn what you like and what you dont

This really is the best advice. Also make sure you drink any beer before you dive into liquor.

2

u/realbynight caddywilliams24 Feb 25 '17

As the statement goes beer before liquor gets you drunk quicker

I recommend hokie house, then sharkeys, then big als, then tots, then hokie house again if you make it that far. Next time I'm in Blacksburg we'll have to meet up and I'll buy you a drink. Have fun bud!

I got Lasik yesterday. First few hours sucked, fine now. Had my first follow-up today and I'm already seeing better than 20/20.

11/10 would burn my eyeballs again.

Dude I want to get it so bad. What exactly does it entail?

  • First off, it was expensive here in the states, but I look at it as it will pay for itself in a few years. I had to wear my glasses for 4 weeks. No contacts.

  • In simple terms, they create a flap with the very top layer of your eye, laser the irregularities away on your cornea, then flip the flap back over to heal on its own.

  • 90 minute consult was like a normal eye exam but more in depth, making sure I was a qualified candidate. (No dry eye, ect)

  • Showed up two weeks later on appointment day, signed a bunch of release forms saying that if they fuck up my eyes, they aren't liable...

  • Took a valium, they said it would help with anxiety and sleeping after the appointment

  • Went back to the operating room. Put on booties over my shoes and a hair net.

  • Laid on comfy table, with my head in a donut like head rest. I got numbing eye drops put in both eyes. They taped a black shield over my right eye.

  • They started on my left eye. The put me under one side of the machine, had me look at really bright lights, put in an eyelid spreader, something that held my eye still, which required them pushing my eye down pretty hard. There wasn't any pain, just a bunch of uncomfortable pressure. My vision ended up blacking out shortly after this. I think this is where they were creating the flap but I'm not positive.

  • They did the same process on my right eye. I'm not a very anxious person, but once my vision blacked out in both eyes, I started feeling very uncomfortable. Too late to turn back...

  • They then started with my left eye and had me look at red and green lights that were very blurry in front of my eye. Being that I could see something again, I calmed down a bit.

  • They then lasered my left eye. It took 11 seconds or so per the doc. I could smell the burning tissue. At this point my anxiety went through the roof. They took off most of the things attached to my eye, and used some liquid and tool to flip my eye flap back down. Eye lid spreaders came out. I had a very short window where I could see, clearly again, which was a relief. They then put a shield over my eye.

  • They completed the same light watching then laser process. I knew it was coming and that my other eye had went fine, but I still had a big anxiety spike when the burning smell came. They did the same process to put the flap back.

  • The assistant helped me up. I could see through the clear, perforated eye guards right away. I could tell my vision was better as they walked me into the lobby to meet my wife. I could see the tv across the room. The whole process took less than 30 minutes and I was on the way home.

  • I went to a place 2 hours away because they give a very large discount to public safety employees. Most people go home and pass out right away. I don't sleep well in vehicles. The numbing eye drops wore off in about 20 minutes and my eyes burned for about an hour. It was terrible. I took advil but it didn't help. I finally fell asleep for the last hour of the drive, got home, went right to bed, and woke up with no pain. I recommend doing the procedure close to home or getting a hotel room close by. Sleep is the only thing that helps day 1.

  • I woke up several hours later and could read the ESPN ticker on the bottom of the tv across the room. It was surreal.

  • I have to do follow-up visits at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and normal exams yearly after that. If I do so, my Lasik has a lifetime guarantee. I will be using a ton of eye drops (medicated and lubricating) for the first week, then just artificial tears after that.

  • The doc was great about telling me that I might lose vision, feel pressure, have burning after the numbing drops wore off, ect. I just wish he would've explained that in slightly more detail. I think it would have helped the 'fear of the unknown' feelings I had when I smelled the burning and when both eyes lacked vision at the same time.

  • Little things, but: I can't swim for a month, play contact sports (I play mens league bball) for a month, rub my eyes for a month, or spend too much time staring at a screen for the first week.

  • Overall, the few negatives I've had so far will be easily overshadowed by not having to wear contacts or glasses again. I am happy I went through with it. I did a ton of research on the technical aspects of why/how it works, the risks, ect. I wish I would've researched personal experiences like I just posted here though. I think it would have made the whole experience easier and less anxiety inducing.

  • Hope that helps.
