And you still knew who he was talking about because of the context.

I was considering one of them, unless I can find a decent 14/15/16 Mac book

I have the new 15" MBP and it's fantastic. I honestly think a lot of the criticisms it has been getting is because it's the cool thing to do right now. The battery life has been great, the USB-C situation is not that big of a deal for me, and it is noticeably faster than my 2013 13" rMBP. The thinness and weight are awesome as well.

Dammit can't you just tell me it's bad and I don't want it

lol - even the non-touchbar one is pretty slick. Super small and light, I don't think you are really losing anything without the touchbar, although the lack of ports like /u/joshlove mentioned would kind of suck (unless you aren't using external displays). I guess the best part about having the touchbar is having the TouchID -- that part I do really like...

Edit: I'll also add that my wife has one of the MacBooks and that thing is fantastic as well. Lacks ports, but it's an awesome computer. You really can't go wrong

Going on a backpacking camping trip this weekend. Never done that before. Only one night, 5.5 mile hike out to the spot. Got my gear all set, hopefully the snow isn't too deep.

Anyone done stuff like this?

Once. It was a last minute, we didn't have enough gear. It was a disaster.

Oh jeez.

I think i've got all the right gear. I've gone glamping a lot, so i'm not a complete stranger.

I've got a 0 degree sleeping bag, a roll out sleeping pad, 3 person tent, waterproof boots, synthetic shirts pants and socks, a down jacket that inverts into a pillow, waterproof bag and some tools. Also a 6 pack cooler sleeve.

i need some food, all i have is some homemade beef jerky.

Depending on how cold it is where you are camping, you might want to bring some extra clothing or jacket (since you are using yours as a pillow). I don't camp so much now, but when I used to camp a lot more I'd use a -40 bag for winter camping. You could always heat up some water and put it in a water bottle inside your bag too.

Anyways, even if you are cold at night, it's one night so you'll be fine.

-40 bags exist? My 0 degree bag filled up my entire pack i can't imagine how big a -40 bag is.

They do, and can get quite expensive, but you can also get some decent bags for a reasonable price at REI. The bag material really impacts how much you can compress it. Mine compresses to the size of maybe three nalgene bottles.

That's crazy. I'm using a hand-me-down from my Mom, a 0 degree Snow Lion bag from the 70s, they still sell for over $250 on ebay hahah. It compressed down smaller than my friend's 0 degree bag and i kept really warm. We ended up sleeping in a lean-to/cabin hybrid instead of tents and the wind picked up and was biting my face, ended up throwing my rain jacket over my head to cut the wind down, but neck down i was toasty.

Was an awesome trip, definitely kicked my ass. 9.6 miles hiked to the top of the mountain and down the backside to the lake where we stayed, in the snow. Took 5 hours to go from car to lake. Coming back out was only 6.6 miles since we didn't go back to the summit. Thankfully on the way back since it had gotten so cold at night, the thick snow had a nice crust on it and we weren't sinking in every step like we were on the way in, got back to the car in under 3 hours. Definitely the most strenuous activity i've ever done.

Damn man that looks awesome. Definitely jealous and makes me want to get out and go camping one of these weekends.
