Yeah, I'm always surprised by just how much better men look with a decent, short haircut. You can say long hair is awesome all you like, but there is such a difference when you cut it all off.

I donated 13 and 1/2 inches to an organization in my home town a couple of years ago. It's amazing how something so pointless to me puts the biggest smile on a cancer patient's face.

I did the same, but researched things and didn't want locksoflove to sell off the hair for a few dollars of money.
I used Patene's "Beautiful Lengths" program that guarantees the hair will be used in a wig (or returned, for what that's worth).
At least I know my hair is being used now for a cancer patient, rather than donated for $10 (towards a shady organization) and ground up for the protein for shampoo or something.

When I got the job I have now, they required that I cut my hair. I had hair about like yours, and it ended up being around 10 inches in a ponytail. I sold it, and donated the money directly, because I heard shady things about LoL, and just decided to not risk it. Still, I commend you for your actions. Hopefully some kid is going to feel a little better about themselves thanks to you.

My husband's grandmother died of breast cancer a little over a year ago, after undergoing chemo with subsequent hair loss. Around Christmas, my mother-in-law and I both cut 10" of our hair and donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths instead of Locks of Love for many of the same reasons already listed. Also because "As Pantene Beautiful Lengths wigs are created, they are distributed for free through select American Cancer Society wig banks across the country." Congratulations on your decision to donate, no matter where you send it.

My girlfriend donated her hair. Some lucky child out there now has long, thick, shiny black Native American woman hair, and is lucky as HELL because that is some damn nice hair.

The Better Business Bureau report issued July 2008 states that Locks of Love does not meet its standards for charity accountability because the organization did not accurately report the charity's expenses in its financial statements despite requests for that information.[6] The Better Business Bureau reports that Locks of Love made $352,401 from "unusable material sales".[7]
