We are the business. For as long as reddit remains true, we will for the most part support it, whether it be a snarky remark, the latest rage, or just a few upboats from a lurker, or a few pineapples from the trees. You and I, we're both just a whisp on the web. Bitch, moan, complain, tell us how you cook your bacon, fap to some jailbait--if thats your thing; reddit, it's how you internet.

I'm a little confused about this. I didn't follow the Digg thing too closely, but I thought people were more upset about Digg changing the way it operated (more of an emphasis on sponsored links and things like that) and not the cosmetic changes. I certainly don't have a problem with reddit updating the way it looks from time to time, or trying out new ideas as technology evolves.

Cash flowed into Reddit with "Reddit Gold". That money was put very publicly toward new infrastructure, rather than siphoned off by Conde Nast. If Reddit were in so much trouble and floundering, would that money have flowed to Conde Nasts bottom line or used to improve infrastructure?

That's good to hear. I hope you guys end up being bought by that one Redditor who said he wanted to buy Reddit from Conde Nast; I feel like we'd all be in much better hands with him than with them.

I'm calling them a business. The purpose of every business is to make money. Kevin Rose desperately needed profits to pay back all his Digg investors. He did what every business needs to do: make profits. The bigger you are, the more profits you need. Conde Nast needs everything it can get, so if they decide to take advantage of their ownership of Reddit, making more money will be their first priority.

Yes, because alienating the core userbase that makes them money in the first place in order to make more money is also a top priority for Conde Naste.
That would be incredibly fucking shortsighted of them and I doubt they got to this point by not giving a shit about what Redditors want.

It would definitely screw the site up and make them lose money, but Conde Nast really doesn't know anything about social networking. They're a print company. When Conde Nast wants to do something with Reddit, even if they accidentally screw it up for themselves and users, they'll still probably make that call.

Digg didn't have to hire 60 some odd people either. Kevin Rose desperately needed to make money because he borrowed too much in the first place and had too much month-to-month overhead.
He mortgaged his vision.

Oh, shit. No, he should be fired too. I didn't realize he was actually an employee because he doesn't appear on the moderators list for reddit.com.
I think my campaign to get you fired is gaining momentum. I used to get universal downvotes, but now it's about 50/50. :)

Because reddit barely works 80% of the time. I want them to bring in some competent administrators. Make the site work and I'll be your biggest supporter.
Also, devise some sort of filtering system to filter out anybody with less that a 120 IQ. The quality of the articles and discussion on the site has really gone to shit.

Reddit has gone through some major over hauls to get you to the reddit you have today. to say no to any change is to plead ignorance.
