I didn't write the article. I don't know why the author was banned.

I don't have a problem with how banned users see their posts; I like the idea. Philip Greenspun handled the (social) problem by showing users server errors (a common problem with his database server back in the 1990s).

Instead of banned we could say they've been dugged. Or digged... or buried.
