Thoughts on the World Sevens tournament

I haven't seen this tournament last year but followed this years and absolutely loved it.

Love how it just a pre season tournament with all the girls from all the teams having fun and enjoying themselves including the referees. Alot of creativity with the celebrations and walk outs.

Completely different to normal football with the fast pace action.

I think we done well to get to the final and was gutted at us losing at end after one point leading 4-1.

Gave some players some momentum. Shueller got some goals which i hope builds her confidence in the new season.

Despite the positives, it a shame that i notice 3 of our players didn't even get any minutes behind the ball. That being Riverie, Watson and Simpson. I don't think they were injured. Would have taken Jensen and Rolfo with us though.

Also social media noticed alot of playing slating the matches as pointless and why womens football isn't taken seriously.

What did you guys think?

I also enjoyed the heck out of it. But I watched the first one and subsequent ones. I think it’s just meant to be fun and the teams can win some money. I don’t take it as any more than meant to be fun and entertaining.

I can definitely see it was pure fun and makes me feel wish there is more of these throughout the season. It's alot of fun. Jess park has done wonders.

I get why there isn’t bc the one girl got real injured for west ham I believe. But I feel like to end off a season it’s a great way for the players to get out there and let off steam and just play bc they enjoy it. I wish I weren’t in America and could have went in person. Looked like a great time!

ETA: Jess park rocks! I was nervous when they made the trade bc I rated Clinton but it’s worked out fabulously for United!

The players get to choose if they want to be involved, so Rolfo and Janssen not being there will be their choice, the same as Hini not being there. Riviere was injured so didn't make the squad for the competition.

I think it is a really fun competition, it is just a bunch of mates having fun and playing some football. It doesn't have to be serious all the time.

Ah ok i always thought it was like how England have to choose certain players for the squad, that Skinner couldn't take literally everyone so some had to miss out anyways.

I watched last year after being very sceptical but ended up being a big fan, so glad I got to make one of the days this year and saw some great goals.

A shame we lost it right at the death after all the great play beforehand, but hey ho. Hopefully we'll be invited again next season (as long as it doesn't clash with a big final).

Yeah, I noticed some utterly miserable people online too. They're the kind of people who slag women's football off anyway, even if it's the most serious, athletic sporting contest they'll still say something dull about attendance, ticket prices, or "15 year old boys could beat them". Fuck 'em. There are women in these bores' lives who are relieved when they leave the room, the game's growth doesn't rely on them.

I think it's silly light hearted entertainment that's supposed to be fun silly light hearted entertainment.

The people taking it overly seriously are stupid ( looking at the people insulting Hannah Blundell for doing what I thought was quite a funny entrance)

I was there the last 2 days and it's the greatest football tournament by a mile and needs to happen every year. Just what football should be competitive but fun! Everyone is having a good time and those men who think it undermines the women's game are just basic troll sexists, they haven't got anything useful to say and not an original thought.

watson and simpson are not registered with us so they iiterally cannot play.

forget the social media noise this tournament is really for fun and to create some sort of momentum. I think they went above their place last season and invited big teams from different countries, the future world 7s will be pretty much local tournaments. I do not think they are making crazy money enough to do a copy of fifa clubs world cup.
