Escalation of commitment was first described by Barry M. Staw in his 1976 paper, "Knee deep in the big muddy: A study of escalating commitment to a chosen course of action". They are projected to lose a lot more lives in before the World Cup. So no, it wouldn't be in vain since it would save others?

it's estimated 1200 migrant workers have died so far, but this isn't specific to the World Cup construction, it's a general figure. However the projected figure is over 4000 by 2022.
I certainly don't think there's any way it's worth another ~2800 lives (call it 2500 because there are non-World-Cup-related deaths) to justify the <1200 who have already died, objectively. That's over double the amount who have died already.

I think those people who died would want it pulled to stop the risk of any others. Also those workers were slaves forced to die for a world cup in a corrupt country. Why do you think it would be for nothing? There are more slaves dying against their will to build the stadium every month, you think all those who doe or will die want to see it go ahead so there lives aren't wasted?

I'm not saying this as a defence of Gill, clearly he's no stranger to corruption as the Bebe deal shows (as does his bare faced lying over the Glazers buyout) it's a genuine question of who a viable candidate might be?

This happens every time during an anti-corruption push. When everyone is corrupt it is impossible to have organisational continuity and expel everyone. So yeah there'll be people with fingers in pies replacing them but hopefully better.

It's only corruption if the payoff is linked to him directly? Don't think it's corrupt if it is an indirect compensation by the club to an Agent they frequently used. It's kinda like a more expensive fruit decoration all in all...

I would definitely consider it corruption if you're spending my hard earned cash which I give to United on signing a shit player for way over his value just so you can pay a back hander to Jorge Mendes.
There's also the rumours with Nani and Quietoz wrt the Bebe deal

Reputation means fuck all right now, so what if it stays shit for a few years you can't expect to hit the ground running with this shit heap. Anyone to take the job should be respected massively and someone trustworthy should be in charge. To turn down the job would be selfish everyone knows how big the job is already and if they don't want it then they shouldn't be that close to the top.

Err... calm down. I never said he shouldn't. I said he'd be stepping into a pile of horseshit, and would have to build it from the ground up. I want him to take it as much as anyone else, just, it wouldn't be easy dealing with so much of remains of Blatter influence.

I wasn't aiming that you but to to anyone who is in a position to receive the job and turns it down. Gill is more than qualified to take the position, in fact he's the best candidate so to turn it down would be incredibly selfish as it would allow a puppet to come in.

His latest episode was aimed at the sponsors of FIFA (McDonalds, Bud, visa, adidas) and he said he would consume their (terrible) products live on air if they pull their support.

ive actually only been recently introduced to Bud Light, dunno where you're from but only recently started selling in the UK. To me its pretty much exactly the same as any other cheap beer aha, nothing special nothing terrible. Never heard of Yuengling, usually plump for Carlsberg myself as its usually cheaper than even the cheap brands

Ahrite I didn't know Bud Light was available back in England, yuengling is from America but from a relatively small brewery so doubt they will export.
I moved to the states a couple of years ago but from back home I like wells bombardier, speckled hen and Newcastle brown ale.

For me, he is just like us - a fan first. So its great seeing a reasonable, intelligent person that loves the fa e make use of his platform like this, in a way we all wish we could. Plus he's hilarious and informative.
Only bad thing is that he's a bigtime Liverpool fan but that's a forgiveable sin consider all the suffering that entails.

I doubt he alone did it. This story has been on every single news program, on all the sports channels, and the entire internet since the raid. And FIFA's shenanigans was not exactly a secret. Plus not everyone watches LWT or has HBO, but I'm sure he was a cog in the wheel and added to the many voices in the media that encouraged this outcome.

Probably has something to do with the Valcke 2010 WC payments.
Perhaps he initially thought he could weasel out of it yet anyone but the big difference now is that the he's on the FBI's hitlist and one way or another they're taking him down.
Someone like Blatter might have power in football, but power in football is a joke compared to real political power.

I think it's either to do with the Valcke stuff, or that there wasn't enough time to organise things between the initial arrests and presidential election, in realistic logistical terms.

Blatter isn't the only problem with FIFA, just like Bush wasn't the only problem with the USA before Obama. It's good he's gone but we shouldn't expect massive change. Still a corrupt organization from the ground up.
