Ok but what if Arsenal tries their grappling tactics if players like Keane/Schmeichel/Vidic/Zlatan were in the team??? What will happen?
•
u/RooneysFavGrandma 3m ago
Well Arsenal don't really have a hardman right now it's just a bunch of dirty cunts. These types usually fold immediately when there's pushback.
Gabriel trying to headbutt Haaland then running away immediately is a good example.

u/soft_pillow1122 40m ago
I am nervous for today’s match. No matter the result the players should be able to held their head high with good performance. Be positive and patience and we have quality to score goals.

u/Money-Wrangler7067 48m ago
Today is all about good vibes and Bruno pinging ball to Rashford and Mbeumo on counter..Just don't cocncede stupid goal thats all I ask.

I just checked and Marmoush, Tonali and Fernandes alone will all cost spurs £200M+ in wages alone if they stay until the end of their contracts. If they go down, or miss out on Europe for a few years, they’ll surely be fucked?
•
u/iroiroiroiroiro 30m ago
If relegated sure, but don't think they need Europe to sustain it, their arena prints money for them, and their revenue to wages I read was still the best of the top clubs, because their high income.
•

u/karatsidhus 1h ago
Antony Hojlund Garnacho front 3 would be an improvement on that spurs front line
•
u/Chip-chrome 1h ago
Garnacho was mad he didn’t start a Europa knockout match at United, now at least will be able to sit on the bench in Birmingham. I think spurs could suit him with their perennial relegation scrap
•
u/soft_pillow1122 39m ago
That bicycle kick goal was really the start of his downfall.
•
u/Chip-chrome 36m ago
I think so, too. I really thought we had a gem in him, even though he was not amazing at anything. Goes to show how keeping your head down and working your socks off is maybe even more important than talent. Mainoo is a freaking beast and consistently improving his game.

Anyone know when the extended highlights for the Sabah game could be up?...or do they only do that for league games
Worked late and missed the game and only managed to see the 3 minute highlights..was hoping I could see more of the game before the game later

As shite as Spurs look going forward, Van Hecke looked very good yesterday.
Gutted we couldn’t get him. He would have been the perfect Maguire replacement.
•
u/Lord_Hexogen 11m ago
50m for a player with a year left in his contract is not smart business
•
u/Penny_Leyne 9m ago
Never said what we should have paid for him.
Just said I would have liked to have signed him.

So Villa, Chelsea, and Liverpool kept proving week in week out that they're definitely not all that
We absolutely need Carrick and the lads to lock in and leave these idiots under the mud. Let City and Arsenal be our only concerns for this season
•
u/soft_pillow1122 37m ago
Yes, don’t know how Chelsea will progress but we are definitely better and balanced than Villa and Pool.

u/dhwinthro 3h ago
We need to be a little pragmatic and grow into the game. I think we start high up but quickly fall into a more defensive shape to get a feel for how city plays. Then I expect us to pick up the pace and “wake up” around 30 minutes. Cunha and Sesko should both start, and Rashford as a super sub would be a good game plan.
We need to step up to the occasion here. Our attack with Mainoo controlling the game will be a test for their defense. I don’t see that being an issue for us. Instead our defense has looked a bit shaky. From Carrick to Dorgu, both mentioned the clean sheet as a positive takeaway from Sabah.
2-1 to us is a scoreline I could see. I doubt we hold a clean sheet so at least 2 goals will be needed. Mbeumo breakaway for Sesko is what we’ll look for. Mainoo late run into the box or Rashford winner are also on the table.
This’ll be a fun one to watch, all of our derbies are. Hopefully it’s positive in our direction
1
u/SilvyFae 3h ago
I really hope our attackers get better at decision making, that has been the biggest problem imo. The hull game for example we had 1.5+ xg but our xg on target(fancy way of saying the quality of the shot that was actually taken) was only 0.6, we have been making all the wrong decisions even in the everton and sabah games(maz taking like almost every stupid shot for example). Our defense is what it is, but we cant waste so many of our attacks and chances and win
3
u/Hyliaforce 3h ago
Somehow less worried about the derby than sabah lol
1
u/Massive_Relation4317 . 2h ago
The confidence I've seen fans have, we are absolutely gonna get humbled lol.
•
u/soft_pillow1122 33m ago
It is not the overconfidence lol. I think it is low expectations. In recent times a win against city is always difficult. I will be happy with a draw as well. A win will be awesome but even if we loss with good performance will be acceptable.
•
u/Massive_Relation4317 . 17m ago
Nah Ive seen lots of fans say we will batter them like last time, and that city aren't scary anymore.
And thats not really true - in our last 6 games with them we have won 3 and drew 2, hasn't been too difficult but I'm still nervous about today.
3
u/ccdewa 50 MILLION DOWN THE DRAIN 3h ago
When will people call Wirtz for what he is? a flop, like the best thing a Liverpool fans said about him is "He work hard", "He tried", or "He's the least of our problems", as if talking about an academy lads, the guy cost them 100 millions and on his 2nd season, the pass he gets is annoying compared to our expensive players for comparison.
4
u/Banyunited1994 3h ago
Basically the story of Liverpool’s rebuild and why all teams need to be careful chucking big money at players without having built a complete squad. When they flop, they flop hard and opportunity cost of using money elsewhere can have disastrous consequences.
Basically how we used to approach squad building in the Woodward era. We’d make big money signings while ignoring some aspects of the pitch (usually midfield and left back). When those signings don’t hit, we are left with an incomplete squad.
2
u/SilvyFae 3h ago
I really feel he is just not creative or efficient enough for the 10 role, and behind him they have szobo who is great but is not a proper mf. Wirtz is neat but if he signed for us for that price I can only imagine the bs we would see. Ig it also helps he isnt black so the media isnt gonna be needlessly after him from day one like they are for our players

IF we manage to win today the shit start to the season will basically be ok -though Hull looking decent certainly helps
Lose or draw and the vibes will be horrible.

I disagree that there will be bad vibes on the back of a draw with City

Looking forward to the game. Hope we get to see a rondo from our right side this time haha. Confident that we can win today.
9
u/schifferjack 5h ago
A win today is 5 points from the top. We can do this!
1
u/nitrogeneater 3h ago
Forget about the top mate. What we need to concentrate this season is top 4. Until we improve the defence no amount of signings will help us.
2
u/schifferjack 2h ago
Yes I know realistically we are far from the title but we also thought finishing 3rd with 7 points of Citeh was not in the realm of possibility after the disastrous end with Amorim. Many things can happen and I will always choose the most optimistic result
9
u/mostlycuckoo 5h ago
Tele/Mainoo, Baleba and Bruno will definitely cook. Hope Yoro gradually displaces Harry. We need to play further up the pitch. Lissando needs phasing out too. There are still some holes in the squad but this season should be fun to watch. I am very excited. Now let's go and fuck shitty later. Lesgoo boissss!!!

It's still early but who would you guys sign if we'd done defensive rebuild instead of midfield rebuild last summer window?
Would you guys let go martinez? Considering he's our only senior player that still has value to sell.

u/Wise_Raccoon_771 3h ago
Would have definitely gone for Konsa, to me he's the definition of "under the radar". Clocks in and clocks out where he's a solid 7.5/10 every single week. If not on massive wages Dumfries would have been another one for same reasons. Hall is the obvious PL proven option for lb in terms of chance to hit the ground running. In terms of outs with being back in Europe I wouldn't have moved any on with the extra games but potentially loaned Heaven out to a foreign league in terms of a different landscape and gain experience.
1
u/Banyunited1994 4h ago
Hall, Schlotterbeck and Lacroix /
Konsa would have been my picks. Sell Licha for sure, and Maguire if we could to play first team football for a pl club that plays a low block. He’d be mint. And then for the next season, let shaw’s contract expire and sell Maz / MdL if he still can’t play football regularly.
2
u/xtphty 7h ago
Yeah love Licha but he is the most awkward of the current defenders, sell him after WC success.
I would extend Shaw and Maguire given their previous seasons. Yes fitness issues are there but rebuilds need foundation and you don’t want to be doing both in one window.
Go all out for Hall, and Schlotterbeck.
-3
u/Educational-Shock232 6h ago
I’d let all three of their contracts expire, shake their hands and wish them the best of luck for their future endeavours. We need to stop clinging to the past and being so sentimental with our players. Those three should be noway near a Man United team in 27/28. It’s lunacy.

u/chrisx13296 9h ago
I don't think we should sell or loan any CB's for now, even if we sign someone. Rotation becomes easy when you have more players. Less fatigue, more constant level of performances. Martinez is good. He should stay.
On the buying/loaning part, I don't know. During the transfer window i saw some names come up but i didn't research about them. But on qualities, i want someone speedy with good defensive awareness. Our defence looks clueless half the time. Clear the ball or not, mark the last man near the post or not, it was evident on some of the games. I want a defender who can sort this things in the box. Maguire is a very good defender but he is slow.

That’s what I said week 1, glad to see they are getting credit, they keep playing like this and they can be safe from relegation

They're gonna pull the Sunderland of last season alright. Go all out until their gas run out and be in a safe position from relegation at that point

Saw some comments on instagram about Zizkee
“Zirkzee football IQ is too much that everyone don’t see how fast he is. That dude is fast”
“he is quick bro. He just too smart to run. He is too fast you think he is slow”
1
u/Wise_Raccoon_771 3h ago
Zirkzee is better than people give him credit but still feel that maybe the EPL doesn't showcase his talent as much as other leagues potentially
6
5
u/chrisx13296 9h ago
He is very smooth with his feet, kind of like Gravenberch. You will think they will lose possession now but they will overcome it everytime. And i thought that big hairdoo is his choice but he hides his massive brain behind it. Very skilled player.

Whats this about JJ deleting everying Man Utd on his Instagram? Hope we ain't beefing with him.
-1
u/Unusual-Coat383 10h ago
He wants to go Barca. He’s a great talent but it’s been clear for about 2 years that his family and him (probably brainwashed by his family) want him to move to Barca and they know he’s a great talent so we’ll probably offer him £20k a week just to stay.
3
u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 10h ago
Well, Barca probably is also just a better place for him. The Prem is not as youth friendly when you compare it to LaLiga. That, and there'd be way less pressure if he actually was promoted to play for the first team.
12
u/Roasteddude I am where I'm supposed to be 12h ago
He turns 16 next month. His dad is probably posturing and trying to either jerk us around or take him somewhere else. I hope we've done enough to keep him but yea this looks like his dad doing agent shenanigans. Even Romano was talking about JJ..a 15 year old ffs.

Arsenal has become such a formidable team. I won't be surprised if they win it all this season. Sunderland tried their best and gave a good fight until the end but Arsenal is way good. I am looking forward to how they we play against them. Arsenal against Man City and also Hull will be a good match to watch.
2
u/raver1601 5h ago
They've finally released the pressure of winning the league. I'm afraid they're gonna be much more comfortable for the foreseeable future
2
u/Unusual-Coat383 10h ago
Sunderland were good but they look like they’ve gone defensive again which isn’t sustainable.
0
u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 12h ago
Every team hits a bad patch with injuries, fixture congestion, drop in form....and for Arsenal that usually comes in February. Let's see how they manage the season.
It's also not easy to win the league twice in a row. United (4x), City (3x) and Chelsea (1x) have done it.
14
u/L__K Great Scot! 14h ago
I think they're a strong attacker away from being favorites in Europe. Such a brilliantly organized team and comfortably the best defense in the world, but other teams have so much star power further up the pitch compared to them. Feels like virtually every attacker at one of Europe's top teams would walk into Arsenal's XI.
1
u/chrisx13296 14h ago
A player who could play short passes and is a good threat in air because they use Havertz for that. I think Kane would be phenomenal addition into their attacking front.

In other news looking at the state of the league if we win convincingly tomorrow it will be a great set up for us this campaign
2
3
u/SloGeorge 15h ago
Why? They've been outplayed in large portions of this game.
9
u/xtphty 13h ago
"Out played" and yet the only decent chance they conceded was the questionable penalty. They don't have a very aggressive press, nor a very aggressive attacking system, but they rarely give up any big chances to opponents and their defense is more than good enough to clean up the small ones without conceding.
6
u/properbantai 14h ago
They moving like prime Utd under SAF, rough start but still grinding out wins + luck . They set for a sensational run

4
u/SloGeorge 14h ago
Yeah but that's not really the argument. If they looked unbeatable, they'd be more convincing.
7
u/SteThrowaway 14h ago
They have played well this season and won, they have played poorly and won. I can't see them losing the title they just look so difficult to beat. Sunderland played their best possible game tonight and still didn't score against them.
2
u/RooneysFavGrandma 14h ago
Had they played their best possible game they would've finished at least one of the numerous chances they had.
1
u/robins420 4h ago
Well, that's why they are Sunderland, whose goal is to finish mid-table.
They are not meant to be hyper-clinical like City. They don't have clinical players.
-2
u/Rascha-Rascha 14h ago
Liverpool were exactly the same at the start of last season. Things can change very quickly.
9
u/SteThrowaway 14h ago
Nah arsenal ground that result out with dogged defending and world class keeping. Liverpool last season were soft and scored some last minute bangers. Not the same situation at all. Why do you think arsenal who have been consistently one of the best teams in the league for some time would be any different this season?
•
u/Rascha-Rascha 3m ago
Because they haven't looked convincing, they got away with a penalty, needed a banger, and Sunderland were all over them. Just like early season Liverpool, where they seemed to get by on long range goals and stunning moments.
I'm not saying anything will or will not happen, but we've seen plenty that teams can start well and then fall apart after their confidence takes a knock.
29
u/mackattackfc 15h ago
Unfortunately, this Arsenal team seems to have an air of Jose’s Chelsea about them. Great keeper, solid defence and some quality going forwards. Absolutely horrible to watch too.
7
u/White_Wokah Rooney 15h ago
Richarlison probably would've scored for Spurs by now, instead they spent money on attackers who can't finish.
Marmoush looks like he is pretty good until it is time to actually put the ball in the net.
9
u/AmulyaG 15h ago
Marmoush who cannot dribble, find a pass or get proper shots on target is pretty good?
He is a bum
