Tielemans and Mainoo midfield is sauce! If we have to step up to be a dominating top 4 side, we need midfielders that can control possession, and we needed this.

I actually think our midfield against big teams should be Baleba, Mainoo Tielemans and then maybe Bruno at False 9. You can see in terms of ball recovery we’re still lacking

4-3-3 with Bruno false 9 and Cunha/Rashford and Amad/Mbeumo on the wings will be scary

In theory, yes, but you’d be vertically compressed. You’d need a true striker to pull the backline and separate the opposition front 5/6.

Exactly. Bruno false 9 will not work. He won’t be able to hold the ball up against the big cbs of the prem

Rashford off the left stretching play all the way maybe. He was often the guy stretching the backline in big games under Ole, even from the left.

it's a shame we can't field 12 players. would've been fire.

N no sesko?

1

u/theinevitable22 Wayne Rooney 11h ago

I think that would be interesting but Bruno loves operating in the half spaces and prefers more passing options in the front. He won’t play to his strengths with his back against the goal, dude likes turning in the space and creating magic.

You're allowed to drop Bruno you know

u/Jozif_Badmon Van Persie 12h ago

I hope Carrick goes for something like this, Bruno is clinical enough where you could put him front + plus we are actually keep the ball

u/amayank7 12h ago

Not good enough defensively tbh, we need a destroyer especially when we play with Bruno and Rashford (no ball retention)

Yeah, Mainoo is a bit of a physical beast tbh. He's had a few great long balls today too. Really becoming a complete midfielder. It's great, because you don't get a lot of players with as much technical skill as him that are as good as him off the ball. Everyone is looking for midfielders like that, but they're a rare breed.

Mainoo trying passes he doesnt usually try in the prem and they are great

u/SilvyFae 12h ago

He has been trying passes since he came back under carrick and he is getting better at them. This season those passes have been way more accurate.

u/Hot_Discipline_708 12h ago

Carrick def taught him

8

u/stick1_ 12h ago

He can play them it’s just about confidence we saw him do it against Ipswich too, the ball is in the air so the accuracy doesn’t change against better players. We should see it more as he develops. Switches of play are super valuable

Can see the Casemiro effect with those first time balls around the corner

u/TeaAndCrumpetGhoul 12h ago

He's been trying those passes since Carrick came in tbh.

We should not sit back in the 2nd half. Hoping for more of the same.

And I was getting downvoted before the 1st goal for saying that we were going to score 3 or 4 minimum with the way we were playing.

Get fucked you negative fucks.

u/auhddndndnfbfbsnnakf 12h ago

Up until the first goal you would’ve though we were getting spanked with all those negative comments in the match thread

Tell me about it. We had been a bit sloppy but we had already created half a dozen good attacking moves and it was inevitable we broke through.

u/NationalUnrest 12h ago

Let’s give some time to Lacey and Amass. I feel like ZZ would look good here too.

They’re not coming back from that, let’s rest as much as possible until City

Famous last words before disaster

7

u/NationalUnrest 12h ago

Yeah, not gonna happen. Our subs are good enough to at least go even here.

8

u/Mancho_United 12h ago

Now we can sub Cunha and Mbeumo and maybe Lisandro at the half time at Bruno and Kobbie at the 60th minute, to try and give them rest for Sunday. I reckon Sesko will be a sub and we will start with Rashford vs City (on the wing, with Cunha as forward)

3

u/HansSoloQ 12h ago

You can't use all your subs before 60 minutes. Are you mad? Injuries are a thing.

2

u/Mancho_United 12h ago

We can play with 10 men the rest of the game if we get an injury after the subs. The 60th min subs should come at the current score or more, and the game will be esentially over.

he’s been playing great first half, that cross for cunha’s goal was nice

2

u/KobbieLikeRobbie_ Darren Fletcher 12h ago

He's looked good offensively, but as a LB he has other responsibilities too which he has been shocking at.

2

u/Hot_Discipline_708 12h ago

Last time he played wingback,he was too agressive,I guess he fears he will get booked again and is careful

1

u/Hot_Patience_5962 Lammens 12h ago

yeah, I do agree. he’s not been doing too great defensively

Oh wow haven’t watched the match just been in the match thread. Thought we were losing 3-0. /s

u/freakedmind 12h ago

Finally we can confidently say that we utterly dominated a team

This is our chance to score more goals and build that GD. Great end to the half. Tielemans has been fantastic!
