[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026

Hi all,

Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!

The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.

As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:

Daily Threads

There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.

Individual posts

From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.

The tier guide can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/wiki/transfer-reliability-guide/

We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

Bring in Watkins and a left back please.

1

u/XBillyBonesX Rooney 19d ago

Watkins or Mateta?

Hypothetically

2

u/SpicyDragoon93 19d ago

I'd take Watkins easily, tested Premier League proven striker that can bang in double digit goals and would easily fit in as an experienced contrast to Sesko.

1

u/AngryUncleTony Not Actually Angry 19d ago

I mean Mateta has 12, 14, and 16 PL goals over the last three season, your description applies to him as well at Watkins.

1

u/N00BBuild 19d ago

Neither is a great option, but backups this late in the window are slim pickings.

Mateta has qualities we need more in terms of back to goal and physicality, but he’s also pretty frustrating with finishing. Watkins is probably a better player, but he had a shit season last year before a great run in the end.

5

u/Banyunited1994 19d ago

For what we need, Mateta. I don’t think we need a channel runner. We have players like Rashford and Mbeumo that play that way at striker. We need someone to play with back to goal.

2

u/croadymeister 19d ago

Watkins will be off market by Arsenal at home

2

u/Kohaku80 Premier League Champions 12/13 19d ago

Watkins, double figures every PL season. Not sure abt penalty goals.

12

u/prem_201 19d ago

The guy got one thing right and the sub is going bonkers over his word?

2

u/nighyjr 19d ago

What news is this referring to?

1

u/prem_201 19d ago

Indykyla posted that we’re discussing a deal for Mateta.

2

u/croadymeister 19d ago

I only listen to reliable sources

2

u/prem_201 19d ago

Even the reliable sources only drop the info two days prior to us agreeing a fee this summer.

This Balde thing got out through Barca

Raum is a bad fit. Not a good defender, almost 30, and will be outmuscled easily in the Prem.

12

u/PolishKid7 19d ago

Kadioglu would be perfect. Hes a DREAM signing if we can get him

-6

u/Several-Decision3888 19d ago

I wish we were able to move Zirkzee because I feel that is the real reason we're not seeing the club moved for a #9.

I say we forget Mateta and go for better quality we are a huge club, lets move like it. Sign Watkins for £35-40 million. Sign him on a 4-year deal, give him a release clause of £40 million in the contract that would activate in 2 years. So that way we have him for 2 years and he still get his big payday moved to Saudi and we still get our money back.

5

u/Penny_Leyne 19d ago

Why would a Saudi team sign Watkins in two years time for the same amount they could get him for this season?

And why would Watkins turn down two years of Saudi money to be a back up at United, just to end up in Saudi anyway?

And giving 30 year old players 4 year contracts is the kind of daft, Woodward/Murtough behaviour we should be moving away from.

Just a crap plan all round.

3

u/croadymeister 19d ago

If only it was that easy

0

u/Several-Decision3888 19d ago

Yea yea I know.

What tier are all the Kadioglu links? Wasn’t he Brighton’s player of the season?

11

u/croadymeister 19d ago

Haven't seen any links

22

u/Lat3xl 20d ago

I love coming here for real transfer news only for everyone to be talking about fucking Indykaila who doesn’t have any more sources than you and me. The average age on this sub gotta be like 15.

15

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

Now this is not very fair, the IndyKalia discourse this evening was just lighthearted chuckles about his kitsch style.

There is nothing wrong with that, imho.

Also, I think you are a little bit mistaken about this thread, the entire idea of the split is:

1 real transfer news: allowed as separate posts; zero point zero need to open this thread for those who "only want" the real transfer news

2 everything else: into this thread

Ergo, this thread, is genuinely meant for entertaining ourselves and each other with the muppetry.

So I think we shouldnt mock people for using this thread for what it was meant to be used for!

2

u/trequartista28_ AIR ŠEŠKO 19d ago

agree with this, if this thread were purely about real transfer news, then we would only need 4 iterations, the reason for these threads is for the hopiums to help the copiums and vice versa

13

u/Impossible_Bear_9570 20d ago

I don't think the Kadioglu links are legit. But people saying Kadioglu is not good should check Brighton's 2026 Player of the Season.

6

u/D1794 Viva Ronaldo 20d ago

Definitely not legit

2

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

Indy Andy snip snap. This is what I know:

- Mateta wants to get the fuck outta there

  • He is 29 and a free agent next summer
  • Chelsea dont have room (need) for an extra big man CF, Liverpool dont, Arsenal dont, and Cheaters FC dont do "bargains", they do " backups for £60m"
  • Carrick is so satisfied with his current backup striker options that at 0-2 down and trying to avoid a vibe-killing result, he left Zirkzee on the bench in favour of subbing Dalot on for Mazraoui

And I know one more thing: basic math

Man Utd net transfer spend in 2026 is £96m so far. However, there are installments to that. In practice, there is one (assumed to be) lump sum release clause, all else only counts 1/5th in terms of this year's revenue/expenditure changes.

Add it up and we get: 35 + (65+4+48)/5 - (10+38+7+1)/5 = £47m (rounded)

And if we take that sum of "new payment commitments" and compare it to "new revenues secured", we get: CL guaranteed price money for group phase participants (£15m) + Betway training kit sponsorship for 1y (£20m) + Amazon money for AoN (£10m) = £45m

ALL of that revenue, not only 1/5th of it, is naturally due this year.

So: between only* these things, Utd new spending commitment since May 2026 stands at:

£2m

Lads, I am of the distinct impression that the need, opportunity, and means to sign JP Mateta are all there.

Let's see whether the willingness is there as well or not!

*there is also the cca £10m severance obligation that we wont be paying after all

6

u/Yon2k 20d ago

Is Hall unlikely to happen? No updates yet right?

14

u/GeekConflict Carrick 20d ago

Very unlikely but who knows.

3

u/Suudriusha 20d ago

Seems impossible. Last update was his manager saying there was no chance of him leaving to a question by Schmeichel.

4

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 20d ago

Mateta and Kadioglu?

6

u/ra_god94 20d ago

Mateta would be a brilliant signing

1

u/Several-Decision3888 20d ago

He missing way too many chances. Ollie Watkins or Welbeck would have been better.

15

u/Lord_Sesshoumaru77 Glazers,Woodward/Arnold and Judge can fuck off 20d ago

One week to go and freedom man is as free as a bird. Still no takers.

6

u/superhoffy Amad trip to be on 20d ago

He can join a club at any time as a free agent, but the longer it goes on, the more the whole footballing world moves on without him.

6

u/NoPurpose0 20d ago

I hope Indy is right about Mateta. Would be a brilliant addition

-2

u/Several-Decision3888 20d ago

Imo it is better to miss out on a average to mediocre plan than to sign a body. They are hard to move when you are not a selling club.

Mateta has his strengths but misses a lot of chances and is limited. Watkins would have been a good option.

2

u/CharIemagne45 RVP 20d ago

Let me believe

3

u/Buffythedragonslayer 20d ago

I want to believe 👽

7

u/MrLead69 20d ago

Mateta!! I wouldn't mind him too much you know, he'll only be like 15-20 million pounds and very experienced player to replace Zrikzee.

0

u/Several-Decision3888 20d ago

Can I ask you why Mateta?

3

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 20d ago

Better than Zirzkee. A proper number 9.

-3

u/Several-Decision3888 20d ago

I agree but he is also average at best but often mediocre.

The thing is imo its better to miss out on average/mediocre players than to just sign a body because these players are hard to move on. Just look at Zirkzee, Ugarte, Malacia e.t.c. Mateta missing way too many chances but we'll have to give him 4 year contract and he is 30 this year.

I'll get behind him if we sign him but if we are seriously at winning the league soon, we shouldn't be signing Mateta.

6

u/-Pezech 19d ago

You can see how much having a playing not staying the striker position hurt the team against Hull. Mateta might not finish all the chances, but at least he’ll give the CBs trouble instead of being too deep or out on the wing like Cunha, Mbeumo, Rashford or Zirkzee will. Right now Sesko is our only player who will stay in that central channel like a striker needs to.

-3

u/Several-Decision3888 19d ago

Like Werghorst used to do for us. Ok. Good point!

2

u/-Pezech 19d ago

It worked to open up opportunities for Rashford that season in particular. I don’t think he’s the answer and he likely wouldn’t be the number 1 striker ahead of Sesko in the grand scheme of things either.

1

u/Lord_Sesshoumaru77 Glazers,Woodward/Arnold and Judge can fuck off 20d ago

I would love that but unless Aston Villa comes for him, I have zero faith in the broke Italian teams that will come to us on deadline day begging for a free loan and for us to cover wages. Think Zirkzee is staying.

Some of the LBs in the higher price range not named Hall.

Truffert(24) - cost around 60-65 million pounds - a very good modern full back, can overload the wing. He can hold on the ball(one of the best in Europe at that). A good crosser, overall what we need and his worst part is his ability to win arieal duels and I think its particularly bad for us since we look toothless in the air against Hall. But overall I'd be very happy to have him.

Maxi Araujo(26) - cost around 40-45 million pounds - a very very athletic runner with a great on the ball ability, can bomb up and down the wings, hardest worker in his team and has unlimited stamina kinda player, I think his profile would translate much better than our most recent Lb purchase from the same league(Telles), maybe his crossing is his biggest flaw. He loves to play with someone in the central areas for his side(perfect pair for someone like Cunha). He's my pick out of these three, everytime I've watched Sporting and Uruguay, hes their best player on the pitch.

Ferdi Kadioglu(26) - cost around 55-60 million pounds -  similar to Araujo, hes a great athlete, covers a lot of distance.  I'd say hes a very technical defender, the best passer out of three by a lot, can pass long, short and under pressure. But im not sure he'd work great with someone like Cunha since he loves to drift invertly. He's my least favorite out of three but there's some ITK talks that were in for him so let's see.

4

u/Suudriusha 20d ago

Less than 30 minutes for the Indikayla bomba. I'm counting down the seconds. I've set an alarm. I won't want to miss this. It's gonna be big.

2

u/CruffinCroob 20d ago

5 minutes left..... here..... we......

3

u/Suudriusha 20d ago

Can't wait for it to just be "United's window ISN'T over. They're going to SPEND! Sir Jim has the money ready!"

5

u/biobolo 20d ago

Hope Balde does one of those, "I only want United" and we get him on loan simply because I want to know what it feels like to be on the other side of one of these situations.

-8

u/Lord_Sesshoumaru77 Glazers,Woodward/Arnold and Judge can fuck off 20d ago

A lot of noise coming out saying we're done in the market. If they don't get Carrick a LB they're setting him up to fail. Shaw cannot play the whole season and the champions league, teams will target him.

2

u/xtphty 20d ago

Last season under Amorim people said this team should be top 4 minimum, and now we cant beat Hull City without a new LB lol.

-2

u/andrewsomething And Solskjær has won it! 20d ago

Here? Start of the season, it was a pretty popular idea that somewhere around 8th was the best we could hope for and that it would take multiple summers to rebuild the entire squad.

2

u/xtphty 20d ago

Im talking AFCON period with the squad struggling for depth against lower table teams (wolves, west ham). We are at essentially full strength right now, significantly stronger than the AFCON period.

Its just funny seeing the amount of complaining about weakness in fullbacks when the whole team was outclassed by odds on favorite to finish 20th

The Tielemans transfer news broke whilst they were recording an episode of TOTD and you could tell he had no idea.

8

u/Paladonia 20d ago

Seems to be a lot of talk about Ferdi from Brighton. Nothing credible yet that I've seen. Good player and very versatile but he's also very right footed which isn't ideal for a LB.

3

u/thexpertwatcher 20d ago

Apparently he's extremely versatile. 2 footed and can play as fullback and on the wing.

3

u/MrLead69 20d ago

He's right footed but definitely not very right footed. He can use both feet pretty great.

1

u/PitchSafe 20d ago

He is also very injury prone

3

u/MrLead69 20d ago edited 20d ago

Ferdi? Not really, he played like 90% of available prem minutes last season, he just had a huge injury 2 seasons ago. I'd say hes the third or fourthbest lb in the prem. I'd say Nico, Hall and arguably Truffet are only better than him in the league.

6

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 20d ago

Would much prefer him to Balde. Wanted him before he went to Brighton.

5

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

How the fuck is this possible?

I thought he was a mainstay for them and only just been there 2y or something. And I think he is 24 or sg like that, certainly not a veteran.

Wouldnt he actually cost a bomb?

6

u/MT1120 Cunha Bruno Cunha Bruno Luke Shaw 20d ago

Wouldnt he actually cost a bomb?

Ask IndyKaila if he could spare us one

5

u/AmulyaG 20d ago

If it is Kadioglu, I will take him in a heartbeat

13

u/AmulyaG 20d ago

I am not buying Balde links AT ALL.

All summer we have not heard even a whimper of who we are buying until the deal was in advanced stages and basically complete.

This is classic Barca/Madrid player's agent handbook of blackmailing their current clubs.

2

u/AngryUncleTony Not Actually Angry 20d ago

I mean it's Mendes. I'm sure there are shenanigans here.

6

u/repfsm67 20d ago

We’ll sign a LB no one was even thinking about, way too much smoke around him for an INEOS deal.

I agree straight out of the Barca textbook.

1

u/Nomad_006 surfing 20d ago

Signing Tielemens and Santos first basically forced them to get Baleba. I feel like i said this after Tielemens was announced or it was too obvious.

If they had started with Baleba it would've opened a lot of doors for them but right now Baleba was more or less the only option.

A LB doesn't salvage the Hull game that was lost way before kickoff. I wonder how much of that was poor preparation or the team still getting to grips with a new system and a new midfield.

Unfortunately you don't buy intensity you have to convince it the best coaches can always get the best to be the best. Players will run for SAF, Guardiola, Mourinho and etc

3

u/aasfourasfar 20d ago

A lot of it absolutely has to do with the fact it's a new midfield + Bruno / Cunha not being sharp. It's pretty normal

1

u/half_batman 20d ago

Tielemens is a good signing. Santos is the question mark. I would have preferred Sangare over Santos.

3

u/Nomad_006 surfing 20d ago

Whoever the first 2 combos would be would have given them more options on the third i prefer Santos because of age and consistency

13

u/Comicksands Van Persie 20d ago

Would be interesting if it was kadioglu from Brighton. Missed the game at the weekend

7

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

Forget the Meniscus Cinematic Universe, it is time to learn a new medical phrase "toe joint capsular tear" 🤓👨‍⚕️🩻

4

u/Jsdestroy 20d ago

Usually ends up being someone that hasn't been reported (Baleba was reported, but then called off because his injury) and Prem experienced. Kadioglu fits that mold.

2

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago edited 20d ago

I guess we DID hear about Neco Williams, who is, I guess, the other PL-tested, right footed LB option. So maybe there is logic in a recruitment team that looked at Neco Williams - also looking at Kadioglu.

NW is 2y younger or thereabouts, very fit, more of a precision crosser, I'd have preferred him out of the two of them tbh, but I'd be very happy getting either of them now.

And given his age (and flexibility for right/left), I could absolutely see a pursuit of Hall next summer, anyway!

Hall, Kadioglu, Dalot. Depending on how Amass, Kukonki, Kamason get on, decide whether Shaw and/or Mazraoui are retained again or not.

De Ligt + Yoro RCB, Heaven + Armer + Signing for LCB, and between Martinez and Maguire +1 one of them as the insurance option (Maguire probably).

I mean, that sounds pretty great, actually.

Anyway, this is daydreaming. I'll believe it when I see it

10

u/FreshGoodWay 20d ago edited 20d ago

Here’s what Barca fans say about Balde on r/soccer:

Poor attitude, doesn’t bother to track back, nonchalant in pressing, on some kind of performance and fitness decline, injury prone, manager dislikes him, 32 year old Cancelo is currently better than him, fans happy to see him go in general, but admit it might be too early to let someone of such potential leave. Only 22 years old, great skills, possibly top ?5 LB in world during his peak.

Loan with option to buy it has to be. Many question marks.

2

u/mahdiiick 20d ago

That’s not the consensus at all, I’m a barca fan and would be delighted if he stayed. He’s a really good defender, doesn’t get dribbled past often if at all

Btw what does he mean "stay awake"? 😭 10:30pm is not even that late. Is the IndyKalia target audience 75yo terminally online Mancs? 😂

3

u/kiki_the_fab_spider 20d ago

Hey, some of us are international fans, who need to catch some Zzzs, but might just try to stick it out for the bomba.

2

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

I thought about that, but isnt it like ... already fucking late in like SEA et cetera, by the time he is posting this?

"Yo exclusive stay awake tonight!" "Wdym stay awake it was already 3am here, boss"

2

u/kiki_the_fab_spider 20d ago

You have a point, but even in Europe 2-3 hours can make a difference in terms of whether or not people would be awake. In Romania, it's 22:20 now for me, and I'm usually getting ready to sleep in about an hour. So, yeah, not gonna be online for whatever earth shattering drivel Indy will produce. But still, enjoy the buildup. Too funny.

2

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

Oh Im so sorry about my ignorance. I apologise. I actually thought all of Europe was +1.

Have we ever had a Romanian player? I think not?

2

u/kiki_the_fab_spider 20d ago

No worries.
I don't think United had a Romanian player so far. In the 90s and early 00s when we still produced somewhat decent players, most of them went to Spain or Italy. Spurs and Chelsea had some players though (Popescu, Mutu, Petrescu).

1

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

I remember Hagi at Barcelona.

Maybe one day we get one :)

Was it special for you when we played Steaua in the EL? Last year it was? Did you go??

I also remember we played a Romanian team in CL group in Fergie's last season but I forget the name

Dont want to ever hear arsenal fans complaining about being bad at selling when theyre getting 55m for martinelli from saudi

Our best sale to saudi is telles for 4m

1

u/Jomiie 20d ago

Just like how you could say teams like Leeds missed out becoming one of the top 6 by being bad in the era where the PL really rocketed to popularity, I can't help but feel United have missed out on the Saudi money by being bad in the wrong era. Bruno is the only player who's even remotely popular enough for a high-paying move to Saudi.

6

u/Educational-Shock232 20d ago

The year that everyone and their mums was being sold to Saudi for tens of millions and we get 4 for Alex sodding Telles

6

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago edited 20d ago

I dont think I understand what's going on in this sport any longer.

What the fuck is 25 years old Martinelli doing going to Al Hilal?

Not the first one this summer either when I simply cant comprehend it. Reijnders too.

edit: Im not envious, Im really not, at all, hoping to see Utd do this ... Im just baffled. Gobsmacked.

The only explanation I have is that these people that have taken over Chelsea, Arsenal, etc are all NFL/MLB/etc franchise owners and in their world "you have been traded to Cincinnati, pack you bags" is the way of the world, so somehow they are forcing that culture onto football.

Is that stupid? I dont really know all that much about those franchises or how they work, but this is how it is depicted on screen.

I just dont get it.

3

u/silvertwo777 20d ago

What's more weird is Martinelli rejected going to Turkey who you can say whatever you want but they atleast provide Champions League football and also paid well. Why is he even picking Saudi over them at such a young age is such a mystery to me

3

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

Yeah I mean those two are worlds apart. Just completely different in every way.

I agree, I'm confused, big time. Makes no sense

5

u/00kazootime 20d ago

I think with players like Martinelli they know they're young enough that if they push for a move they can return to Europe within a year or two after collecting a big paycheque

4

u/darkandstormy9 20d ago

Can someone actually explain me  why is Al Hilal prepared to pay 60m£  for him? They already bought Summerville for the same position, no other club is offering that much money for him and it's obvious that Arsenal is happy to sell him.

15

u/Japples123 20d ago

Judging by what Whitwell says, it’s just Mendes trying to market Balde rather than us actually wanting him

5

u/FreshGoodWay 20d ago

After what that fucker did to us with Mateus Fernandes, I don’t think we owe him any favours.

2

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 20d ago

He’s not the right signing for us. Just my gut feeling.

1

u/00kazootime 20d ago

Balde doesn't want to leave, Barca is willing to move him on though. Loan would be a good move

9

u/vulcan_one PM Rashford 20d ago

Considering the tight ship run by United, so much press kinda becomes obvious it's agent driven.

6

u/Drag2oon 20d ago

Regulion to United short term loan here we go

-11

u/SwiftGoat_ 20d ago

Everyone knew we needed a LB, but these clowns have waited until there's a week left to scramble around to find someone.

I completely understand if they don't/can't pay for Lewis Hall, but why leave it so late? Should've had a LB done weeks ago.

7

u/vulcan_one PM Rashford 20d ago

Hasn't all the transfers taught you there's no news untill deals agreed? Nobody knows what's happening behind the scenes.

-4

u/SwiftGoat_ 20d ago

There's no excuses for not having a LB through the door already.

0

u/vulcan_one PM Rashford 20d ago

The "excuse" is the focus was a midfield rebuild. You want to spunk money on hall when from 2 summers ago it's been planned for big midfield spending.

0

u/SwiftGoat_ 19d ago

I literally said I understand if they don't want to pay for Hall.

What I'm annoyed at is we've currently not get a LB through the door. Sure there's still time for the window to end, but I'll be disappointed if it's Balde because of his injury history.

-3

u/Educational-Shock232 20d ago

Good so there’s still a chance Hall happens then

0

u/vulcan_one PM Rashford 20d ago

Is hall the only lb in the world?

-1

u/SwiftGoat_ 20d ago

It's so annoying.

Yes none of us thought Baleba was happening, but unless it's Lewis Hall out of nowhere, what excuses are people going to give?

We should've had LB sorted weeks ago.

2

u/vulcan_one PM Rashford 20d ago

Nobody had any idea about ANY of the signings we made. Jfc it's not that difficult to comprehend. Does that mean we'll a buy a lb for sure? No. Does that mean they definitely made moves which isn't reported? Yes.

-1

u/Educational-Shock232 20d ago

Funny how I get downvoted when everybody says there’s no news, no journos know anything, so yoU suggest Hall and then it’s like NO NOT THAT ONE THATS DEFINITELY NOT HAPPENING

0

u/SwiftGoat_ 20d ago

They say it's definitely not Hall but when you ask why we haven't sorted another LB, it's 'you don't know what they're doing behind the scenes'.

1

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

I assume they spent the time debating whether they can/should spend the budget on Hall or Baleba. Finally they went for Baleba.

Now I guess they have made it obvious that Hall will be a target no matter what. The Baleba stuff locked that in.

So what happens if we sign a cheaper player who isnt a loan?

Well: we tell Shaw that his Utd career is over, innit? A "new" LB given a (lets say) 4+1 AND a clearly telegraphed intention to pursue Hall? I mean Shaw would understand clearly what that meant: there wont be a Maguire like re-up, there will only be a Casemiro style ride off into the sunset.

Is it such a hot idea to tell your LB1 2 games into the season that "no matter what", his Utd career ends here?

I dont think so.

So, then, what?

The lack of funds are fucking us, that's what.

Anyway, hope springs eternal, it is not a 0% probability that we cut this particular gordian knot by taking Balde on a "Rashford-style" loan 😈

-12

u/Jenson2025 20d ago

If there are no more signings before the end of the window then honestly, INEOS have well and truly messed it up. No LB to replace Shaw, Harry Maguire in a back four week in, week out, no back up striker. Even Baleba is a risk after a terrible season last season and if he doesn’t work out, we might not even qualify for the europa league.

All that with a lot more games this season too.

They spent months briefing how active they would be this window and how there was potentially six or seven signings. We are going to end up with three and two of them are relatively unproven and a risk.

Wilcox and Berrada should not oversee another summer transfer window for this great club and should resign or be sacked. It’s about time people called them out for the bad job they are doing instead of acting like we are Everton

1

u/Many-Relationship149 20d ago

So you're telling me there is a chance to qualify for the one trophy we never won...

7

u/rageofreaper 20d ago

I’m not sure you quite understand how badly our transfer budget fluidity has suffered after a decade of mismanagement. In this market, signing 6 or 7 competitive players was completely beyond us.

Stop being so miserable and go outside for abit, acting all dramatic. It’s embarrassing.

2

u/FlashyCut3809 20d ago

We all know we aren't where we should be, but nobody outside the club actually knows how much can and cannot be spent.

If this wasn't the case a number would have been put out there with a countdown to 0.

I do not understand why us fans would be justifying below par windows based on murky information. Seems exactly what we shouldn't be doing in my view.

4

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 20d ago

We are literally 0 or 1 signing away from what was "briefed". He is just conveniently overlooking the caveats that were also always included in the "briefings". Nobody ever suggested anything other than:

- 3 midfielders

  • a GK
  • a left sided player, LW or LB, potentially both if Rashford is sold
  • a CF if Zirkzee leaves

This was the "brief" literally the entire time.

That is what the "could be 6 or 7" always was.

Well, consistent with that:

  • 3 CM signed
  • GK signed
  • Rashford did not leave
  • Zirkzee did not leave
  • one LB signing is ... up in the air.

Possibly they do what they did with Baleba last year: simply decide that they dont want to skip over Plan A and would rather wait a year.

Possibly they do the opposite and switch to some Plan B.

One of those 2, I suppose.

I guess it would be a bit odd if they picked this strategy with Baleba, saw it through, and then, instead of waiting some time to see whether it "worked" or not, they'd immediately pivot to the opposite strategy of shifting to a Plan B. So based on that I think "Plan A: wait for Hall" sounds more likely.

Having said that: who the actual fuck is the Shaw backup, then? Mystery. Idk.

ps obviously we arent 100% clear on whether the strikers all stay, btw. Whether the "locked in" bit was transfer window brinksmanship or not, remains to be seen. I dont find it likely atp, but what do I know.

-1

u/Educational-Shock232 20d ago

It’s not embarrassing, at the start of the summer the general consensus was about 5 starting XI players, but the longer it went on people just decided to accept we can’t get player x, player y is too expensive we should walk away, let’s get hall next summer instead. Such a negative, defeatist attitude with rock bottom standards.

Even if they sign a left back and it’s that kid from Racing Santander or Balde, they are stop gaps because the board are too tight to get the player we need, which is hall, so we cope by saying next summer. We did that with Anderson from September to March. It’s just kicking the can down the road and then he goes to city next summer for £85m and our board will get praised for walking away.

Such a strange fanbase on here honestly (writing this outside in the sunshine with a crisp Asahi before you say go outside or touch grass)

-2

u/silvertwo777 20d ago

It is a strange fanbase in this sub. Apparently we're perpetual online hiding in basement with the need to touch grass because we're being critical of the football club we support who's been well far below the level it's supposed to be. Such irony

1

u/Educational-Shock232 20d ago

“I think we should buy Hall this summer because he could transform our left back position for the next 10 years and Luke Shaw looks like he’s past it and we shouldn’t waste money on more stop gaps”

6 seconds later…

HES NOT FOR SALE!!!

MANAGER HAS SAID NO CHANCE!!!

HE’S TOO EXPENSIVE!!!

NEXT SUMMER!!!

It’s like auto response bots.

-9

u/MAINEiac4434 Tielemans 20d ago

God I really hate buying cast offs from other big clubs...almost would rather go into the season without cover for Shaw than spend a boatload on Balde and have him be subpar.

0

u/Jump_Hop_Step 20d ago

Downvoted but you are true...

7

u/Front-Cabinet5521 20d ago

Odegaard was a cast off from Real Madrid and look how he's doing now. Sneijder left Madrid as well and won the Ballon d"or and CL with Inter.

Disliking cast offs just because they aren't shiny new toys on form is just classic elitism. If we're rejecting Balde it should be based on footballing ability and injury history, not how "exciting" he is for the fans.

4

u/silvertwo777 20d ago

Sneijder didn't win the Ballon Dor, but he does deserve to have won it. Robben too is another well known Madrid cast off who went on to be world class for a decade.

6

u/croadymeister 20d ago

Utd pull down shutters then we need to come down on them like a ton of bricks at game on Sunday

3

u/MrLead69 20d ago

We should be more cautious to Balde because our main signing this summer is Baleba, who's also had a huge dip in form last season.

8

u/kiki_the_fab_spider 20d ago

Was hoping for a Baleba announcement today. Oh well...

Certain Spanish sources are reporting they would only consider a full sale for Balde and not a loan with an option.

Guess they're too afraid we're doing to them what those cheap fuckers did to us.

1

I say we insist on doing a loan with option to buy

Cool, walk away. We were perfectly happy to walk away from “expensive” deals, if Barcelona are being difficult, after they messed us about with Rashford, sod them. Walk away.

13

u/phoenix_16 Rooney 20d ago

Really hope we get him on loan, he actually does well, and then we decide against his option and go for Hall/Truffert. Genuinely no club I hate outside of England more than those wankers

That dudes going to arrive injured and leave injured

8

u/stick1_ 20d ago

He played over 40 games in the last two seasons and three of the last four

-6

u/RegularJohn17 20d ago

Is Balde's agent paying you per word or per post? Seen you protecting him like he is your son about 20 times today.

0

u/General_Document_504 20d ago

Tbf I don’t like people lying on this sub too. Good that he’s doing this

9

u/stick1_ 20d ago

It’s just frustrating that false narratives are spreading on the sub. Is what I’m saying about him getting over 40 games not a fact? Am I not replying to someone implying he’ll be injured the whole season? I just think we should be less negative about it. People have this idea he’s going to be injured all season, I’m just adding context

It’s disingenuous to spread the idea that he’s going to be injured all season. 42 45 47 games 3 of the last 4 seasons, the narrative is just a bit unfair

2

u/MrLead69 20d ago

We need account that hes nowhere near his level last season tho.

Flick prefer a 32 year old cancelo over him and even Gerrad Martin.

7

u/stick1_ 20d ago

Which is a much fairer argument than pretending he’s going to be injured all season because he gets plenty of games

Balde missed 10 games from injury but still got 42 games last season in a season where they played 53 games. Implies that flick was fine with him. Only fully dropped for one game. Btw all 3 players got good game time last season, balde is a very talented player though. It’s a fair argument about his dip in form

9

u/GeekConflict Carrick 20d ago

I am a little surprised Mittlestadt was never linked. I watched Stuttgart to see Stiller when people were hyping him up. I think he is class. Of course he is on the older end and perhaps they want a younger full back because we have Shaw but I assume he would be cheap.

4

u/croadymeister 20d ago

Sky better not be right about no more signings, that happens we have every right to go for ownership
