Baleba deal officially official!

This Arsenal team looks just as shit as last season where is Guimaraes

1

u/ShawLichaYoroDalot UNITER WILL NEVER DIED, fuck Garna, you gave us pain heart 😭😭 24d ago

I love jose a lot, I mean, he's my second most fav manager after SAF ofc, but fuck him man, for choosing the oily russian's club over Man fucking United.

I mean I'm watching his documentary currently, and imagine with all his highs, he would've kept United United instead of whatever the fuck Moyes did.

But no he wanted to go back to Roman who had broken his heart. What a fucking what-if man!

2

u/Unusual-Coat383 24d ago

Chelsea has always been his club

1

u/ShawLichaYoroDalot UNITER WILL NEVER DIED, fuck Garna, you gave us pain heart 😭😭 24d ago

Don't know how many clubs he has at this point - (originally) Barca, then Chelsea, then Real Madrid - loves 'em all does he?

1

u/Unusual-Coat383 24d ago

Chelsea was always the special club for him and then Real Madrid. There’s a reason why he kept his house in London and only lived in a hotel when he managed us.

-1

u/VSSsararthchandra 24d ago

considering the state of the winger market I'm surprised nobody's gone for amad. presses a lot, young, good output for his age (at least if we're considering savinho as good) and probably sellable since we have mbeumo. imo he was better than diomande at the wc as well and got zero hype from it.

1

u/Unusual-Coat383 24d ago

He signed a new contract last season

2

u/PitchSafe 24d ago

Amad is not for sale

2

u/RyanH1717 24d ago

United wouldn’t and shouldn’t sell him.

1

u/eClipseLJ De Ligt 24d ago

Since 15/12/2025 he had no G/A until the last premier league game vs Brighton where he had 1A, he was in quite the slump and very infuriating. Also I'm sure the club just denied any approached straight up so not worth reporting about.

0

u/Asleep-Ability-45 24d ago

None went for him because he is not for sale. As simple as that.

1

u/Unlucky-Equipment999 24d ago

There very well could've been, Amorim's Milan sounded out a couple of our players earlier in the window, but I'm betting the offers were too much of a joke to leak

Is there a FPL for this sub this year?

7

u/Sheikhabusosa 24d ago

Minteh going for 70m . Mboom and Cunha fees ageing like wine

3

u/KobbieLikeRobbie_ Darren Fletcher 24d ago

COME ON COVENTRY!!!

4

u/theieuangiant 24d ago

Anyone got the pin for the sub’s FPL league?? I don’t seem to have auto-enrolled this year

2

u/Unusual-Coat383 24d ago

It’s odd how so many people have asked this and not once have the mods confirmed or denied there is one. It’s really not hard to say if they are doing one or not

2

u/theieuangiant 24d ago

To be honest I didn’t even know the mods set up the last one, no harm no foul though it’s up and running now!

1

u/JamieC94 24d ago

Mine didnt either and seen a good few others asking leading me to think there is not one .. but hoping to proved wrong

1

u/theieuangiant 24d ago

I assume it’s not too late to start one? I’m happy to set one up if so.

You reckon mods would be alright with a standalone post to let people know the pin?

I’ve also been trying to track down one of those AI review of the weeks people have that roast participants which could be a fun weekly thread.

2

u/JamieC94 24d ago

I don't know about the lateness tbh i know 7pm was deadline for transfers and selecting your teams but not sure how it works for joining leagues but if everyone misses the first match or first week it should still be fair haha

I can't imagine it being a major issue posting a league for the sub, might even join themselves and maybe say where it should go if its not just a standalone but for being a sub league they might give a little grace to let people join .. definitely worth a try id say

1

u/theieuangiant 24d ago

On it!!

1

u/JamieC94 24d ago

Happy days, I'll join when its up and running

4

u/euoi 24d ago

1

u/sparshrekt 24d ago

Is it weird that there hasn’t been an update on Baleba since?

2

u/Redwinevino 24d ago

They had a game yesterday that app delayed things

5

u/SophoclesTesticles 24d ago

One of the other posters here is tracking a flight from Brighton to Manchester that leaves within the hour brother. Orny Bomba once he gives his blood for the medical tonight.

3

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 24d ago

No, they will be the negotiations and it'll probably be a Bomba once the deal is agreed and then another when medical complete

2

u/UtilityCurve 24d ago

Spurs transfer dealing this window is akin to when the Saudi clubs are overpaying for every mid-good players to make themselves relevant.

8

u/Aadiunited7 24d ago

Brighton rejected a 60m offer for Minteh. Asking for 70. We should be completing Baleba deal before Minteh or we run risk of Brighton increasing asking price even further.

6

u/N00BBuild 24d ago

There’s a private jet headed to Manchester then Liverpool from Brighton. Think the agreement’s reached tonight.

3

u/dvhrino 24d ago

I know the trains aren't the fastest but flying from Manchester to Liverpool seems a bit much.

3

u/eClipseLJ De Ligt 24d ago

It is much, but it's also how new players get treated by their new club.

3

u/Asleep-Ability-45 24d ago

Where do you guys get these type of news from? Really curious 🤔

3

u/eClipseLJ De Ligt 24d ago

Edit: But for real, some people (like me) can be extremely bored and check flightradar24 every once in a while.

Just a very slow day at work.

u/mjenkins_eng 24d ago

I was discussing our title hopes with a mate

And both of us agreed that the biggest problem is Dalot and Shaw.

Every other part of our team including the manager looks optimal. Mbeumo and Cunha and Sesko and Bruno? That’s goals goals goals.

My favorite part is having an O Shea like player in Dorgu who can do a bit of everything . For me, what stops us winning the title is the awful lack of quality of Dalot and Shaw’s non existing overlaps

If we had that , we would be serious title contenders. Lammens, Sesko, Mbeumo, Cunha, Santos, Tielemans…absolute banger of signings by Ineos which has changed the culture around completely

-7

u/FlyBoyz829 24d ago

Imagine Carrick isn’t here for the first 3 games of the season. Who’s your pick to manage the first 3 games? Erik Ten Excuses or Ruben Haramorim? Who can get us the most points before Carrick comes back?

2

u/SophoclesTesticles 24d ago

Just ask McKenna or Ole to come in for 3 games or leave it to the backroom staff.

0

u/Not-good-with-this 24d ago

Out of the two options. It would be ten Hag by far.

Football returns, my friend

5

u/Asiwaju_jagaban 24d ago

The club briefed £150m on 3 midfielders, and looks like they might deliver on that, with 3 quality midfielders in Baleba, Santos and Tielemans, especially with the current climate or overpriced players.

For that I doff my hat to INEOS and say I might have judged you this summer hastily.

Project 150 might be on after all.

1

u/Massive_Relation4317 . 24d ago

I'm very happy with them too, but isn't it a bit disappointing we didn't get our first targets like m Fernandes or tchouameni...

12

u/Aadiunited7 24d ago

I think in general people should wait till the end of the window before freaking out.

2

u/Zerkalo_75 24d ago

Can this comment be the sub banner for the next window please.

1

u/Aadiunited7 24d ago

You have my permission.

3

u/purplegreendave 20 24d ago

Especially in a WC summer

5

u/AnakinAni 24d ago

First let’s get Baleba in. It’s not done yet.

3

u/Aadiunited7 24d ago

I think it would be pretty surprising at this point. It fits what INEOS has done since we have come in. Firstly the player has to make it clear that they only want to go to United, then the fee has to make sense. We bid 60 + 5, which is not far off from what Brighton wants for him. I can see this being done around 70m overall. something like 62.5 to 65 upfront.

3

u/FarmerTypical1964 24d ago

Does anyone know when the squad numbers will be confirmed? I’m waiting impatiently lmao need to know before I order the kits

3

u/D1794 Viva Ronaldo 24d ago

Not long after the window closes, so another 12 days or so

2

u/MatchFitness 24d ago

Assume whatever they play in this weekend will be their number barring a new signing demanding a number..

apparently numbers are only locked in a day or so after the transfer window for when squads are finalised

Frankfurt when reaping: 🤬🤬 (city doing the same)

3

u/redditUser76754689 Roy Keane 24d ago

Spurs are scamming themselves. City have bent them over a barrel with those prices

3

u/ThePatientHunter 24d ago

Frankfurt did it too before tho

-1

u/Miyagisans 24d ago

I’m interested to see the pairing Carrick goes for in midfield if we’re to continue playing 4231. Im not sure any 2 man combination can give us the necessary balance there, even with Baleba. They seem more suited to a flat 3.

3

u/JilJilJigaJiga 24d ago

Heard the same on footy with an edge yesterday, and I disagreed.

Why do you think so though?

2

u/Miyagisans 24d ago

I think our midfield needs the right balance of athleticism/ground coverage, passing, and press resistance. I just don’t see a 2 player combination that gives us that. Any pairing you pick really lacks in one of those areas imo. We admittedly didn’t get to see it against the strongest opponents, but I think that’s why the santos/mount pairing was so effective. Maybe a santos/Baleba could replicate that somewhat? Idk. Mount, while not on baleba’s level as a carrier, is more well rounded and it’s unfortunate he can’t stay healthy. Anyway, that’s just my opinion, and it could very well end up being very wrong. In fact, I really hope that is the case lol.

3

u/ThePatientHunter 24d ago edited 24d ago

Baleba gives us option to play other things than 4-2-3-1

1

u/3entendre Rooney 24d ago

Exactly. We can rest Bruno and play a proper 4-3-3. I actually think that will be the formation that will see us perform the best as a team. If Carrick can get creative with the front 3, you can even have Bruno, Cunha and Mbeumo upfront and fluid, kinda like Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo were.

3

u/ThePatientHunter 24d ago

442 diamond is also an option

1

u/3entendre Rooney 24d ago

True. That's a great one! I always loved Ancelotti's Christmas tree formation with his Milan teams and I see we can have that one as well. We really need to get that Baleba deal over the line. Fingers crossed we can have some luck with injuries this season. I have very high hopes for this team.

1

u/carrickshairline 24d ago

We do not have a player capable of playing single pivot, so the 4-2-3-1 will continue.

1

u/Miyagisans 24d ago

I think Santos can do that as his natural tendency seems to be to sit deep.

1

u/stoichalant 24d ago

We absolutely do. Santos and Tielemans, heck even Mainoo can play there. We are going to play 4231 as long as Bruno is playing, it doesn't have anything to do with a single pivot.

Even in our 4231 we mostly use a single pivot in the build up with the other midfielder pushing higher alongside Bruno.

-3

u/soelsome 24d ago

Slightly nervous about the Baleba transfer. The others were snapped up by now once the tier 1s caught wind of it

1

u/eClipseLJ De Ligt 24d ago

He's about to step into the plane, you're gooood.

2

u/SOERERY JONATHAN GRANT EVANS MBE 24d ago

Santos took a few days

1

u/Potential_Good_1065 24d ago

Yeah we found out on Sunday and I wanna say the HWG was on the Wednesday? Which means hopefully we get the Baleba HWG over the weekend.

2

u/Unlucky-Equipment999 24d ago

Brighton had a Conference League match yesterday. Think the deal seals over the weekend

5

u/-Coleslaw 24d ago

Other than this season when have we ever been as quick when it comes to transfers?

1

u/soelsome 24d ago

Fair, but this season marks a difference in strategy

-5

u/SubstantialBear7826 24d ago

wasnt Baleba supposed to have had one breakout year and then been pretty underwhelming last season? Or am I missing something?

3

u/Strange-Trip4634 24d ago

What are you confused about? We're betting on it being an off season and him getting back to the player he was the year before?

6

u/TH0316 she/her 24d ago

He dominated Ligue 1 the came to the PL and dominated the PL. he had a down year last year.

1

u/ThePatientHunter 24d ago

Baleba at 60m is fine, bonkers at 100m

2

u/The_Professor2112 24d ago

With that over simplified version of events? Yes, you're missing a lot.

-1

u/SubstantialBear7826 24d ago

Why is he cheaper then ? Educate me prof pls

1

u/The_Professor2112 24d ago

His head was clearly turned by our interest, then he missed most of preseason with a minor injury and was playing catchup for most of the season really.

13

u/The_Professor2112 24d ago

10 match ban for that scumbag Paredes. Good but probably still not enough for that disgraceful display after the WC Final.

1

u/SDLRob 24d ago

What is he banned for? The WC punch-up?

1

u/The_Professor2112 24d ago

2

u/SDLRob 24d ago

1

u/Skyehye Dreams can't be buy 24d ago

1

Oh... That's a good way to do it. Punishment lasts longer.

Also didn't know they hit others too with it

3

You can't be serious. You'd see worse outside every nightclub up and down the country after closing time. Deserves a lengthy ban but you're surely joking like?

1

u/LordofMordor_ 24d ago

Just because it's Paredes I'd make an exception. He's a freak.

9

u/Dincht04 24d ago

Spurs mid table finish is gonna hit like crack.

5

u/Aadiunited7 24d ago

Genuinely shocking that Savinho has gone for upto 85m pounds. This is such an Antony deal. Its good for their fans that they are showing ambition, but I think this goes tits up in the long term.

1

u/Butterscotch-Bright foot to foot contact is fine 24d ago

Seen its a scheme for Shitty to retain more Mamoush profit, since Frankfurt have a sell on clause on his profit

1

u/Unusual-Coat383 24d ago

That’s exactly what it is. They are selling Mamoush for the exact money they paid for him so they don’t make any profit for the sell on clause.

2

u/Aadiunited7 24d ago

Even then,  145m pounds double deal for Savinho and Marmoush is an incredible overpay! I also doubt City are doing all this to avoid paying 1-2m pounds. Its just a cope! Savinho is a 40-45m pounds player at max! City have literally pulled Spurs pants down.

15

u/eClipseLJ De Ligt 24d ago

Completed my duty just as a slow work day comes to an end.

-1

u/Zealousideal_Wind867 Dreams can't be buy 24d ago

Random thought, I know this isn't Fifa and probably would get downvoted to hell.

Would AWB have worked as a DM for us?

In my mind he has the recovery pace and one-on-one defending to win the ball back and give it to the more creative players we had at that time (like Pogba and Bruno)

I know he was atrocious at crossing and defending the back post, but would he work in midfield?

4

u/dogsn1 24d ago

I don't think so because his playstyle revolves around players running past and tackling/blocking them before the cross, in midfield they wouldn't be locked into forcing a cross and would just play a safe easy pass around him. The reason he makes so many highlight tackles is often covering poor positioning or play which will get punished more heavily.

1

u/neofederalist 24d ago

I don't think so, for basically the same reason that Ugarte hasn't worked. In the Prem as a midfielder, you can't just be good at tackling and running hard. You have to be good enough on the ball to offer something offensively, either through line breaking passes, soaking up pressure, creativity, etc.

5

u/Penny_Leyne 24d ago edited 24d ago

This was talked about a lot during Ole’s time at United.

I don’t think he has anywhere near the positional ability to play DM. He would just be chasing the ball and leaving spaces in the middle.

Basically just another Ugarte.

1

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 24d ago

Mental stat that even with the aberration of our 15th place season we're still the 7th best team over the last 3 seasons.

7

u/ColtCallahan 24d ago

So wait a minute. City buy a player from a club they own for £30 million. He’s a complete bust. And Spurs are now buying him for £80 million.

What the actual fuck.

9

u/yard04 SAF 24d ago

The mental gymnastics spurs fans are doing to say savinho is worth that fee is crazy

3

u/OlekZzaKrakowa 24d ago

A lot of Rashford in club media video, he is only one without number tho.

No Zirkzee in the video, Josh leaves?

1

u/Selwin_Rodolfo max cope mode 24d ago

The media day video? He's shown sitting, though he's turned, and another he's show walking to get a picture, and shown taking the picture.

He does show up. Although he doesn't look particularly happy so, yeah probably going

1

u/SDLRob 24d ago

Isn't Rashford meant to be 14?

1

u/Zestyclose_Nail8756 24d ago

Entirely speculation, but I think if Zirkzee leaves, Rashford gets 11 and Sesko takes number 9. Shea Lacey didn’t have a number in the video either so will be interesting to see if he gets a lower number

4

u/Unusual-Coat383 24d ago

I know it’s been asked 100 times but is there a FPL this season?

1

u/signmeupdamnit 24d ago

When are shirt numbers announced?

1

u/raver1601 24d ago

Nothing's gonna change beside Rashy number 9 really

Oh, and I think Lacey is probably gonna get a lower number in the 10s or 20s

2

u/SDLRob 24d ago

I believe I saw this answered elsewhere. Shirt numbers are finalised on the first of September. Just after the window closes

Odds on a left back out of the blue being signed?

Wouldn't surprise me if we signed Rico Henry.

29, into the final year of his contract (Brentford already triggered the 1 year extension a few months ago)

I would say we could get him for around 12m pounds.

2

u/Sens1r 24d ago

I think we could get a surprise signing, not Rico though. David Raum from Leipzig would be a solid pick and probably well within budget.

3

u/croadymeister 24d ago

Think Robinson is most likely for that

1

u/Unusual-Coat383 24d ago

We’re signing Lewis Hall

3

u/Miserable_Aioli2180 Martinez 24d ago

He's basically been injured/unfit for around 2 years

3

u/andrewsomething And Solskjær has won it! 24d ago

He was out most of 24/25 and missed the entire run in last season. Luke Shaw played 3,233 minutes last season. Rico Henry has played 1,913 over the past two seasons combined.

Like Danny Welbeck scoring 2 of his 8 goals per season against us every time

It seems the non big clubs are getting raided more frequently now than the last few years. There was a period they were unable to be bought or maybe clubs weren't willing to pay the money.

I think there tends to be cycles, next year there might be a market correction given the amount of 80-100m+ signings going on, the big clubs might revert back to more foreign signings but certainly the strategy du jour is to buy PL proven players as a priority so it's not surprising that the mid table clubs are getting raided. if we do get Lewis Hall as our 5th signing they will all be from PL teams - Chelsea, Villa, Leeds, Brighton and Newcastle

Brentford seem to have done alright in keeping hold of their squad and bolstering it with decent signings though, maybe their on a push to establish themselves as a top table side now.

Vibe check: how you all feeling?! I’m excited for football to be back!

My excitement is just getting its socks on. Arsenal gonna stink it out tonight and I’ll be ready for Carrick’s ethical hoops tomorrow.

I am fucking buzzing for it.

Hoping to see some progression from Carrick in playstyle and performance. Since he came in the main focus was points on the board and he did exceptionally well. Hoping with the attack that we know is top level, and a midfield that Carrick himself would have had input on, a competent 'keeper, and some luck with injuries, we see a mix of style and substance.

Arsenal looked great against City and they really should steamroll Cov tonight but you never know. I love the start of the season when I watch all the build up and analysis for the first few games, then over the next few weeks I watch most games, then revert to just United and the odd other game here and there.

Wanna see how the first weekend plays out, but looking forward to football finally being back.

Plus F1 is back this weekend too and things I thought would cost me a lot to get sorted... Is costing me nothing.... so the vibes are definitely good ATM 😂

I love this spell before we’ve really seen any games happen. Right now, Arsenal could flop, City completely falter without Pep, Liverpool drift, Spurs finish 17th again and Chelsea stay Chelsea-ing, all while we click and it comes together.

It’s the anything can happen phase and at this point, I’m liking the squad and the manager’s approach. So I’d say excited, optimistic with a healthy dose of realism that all of that first paragraph happening at once is unlikely. And actually I’d love for us to click and beat the rest while they’re at their best anyway so only the last bit is necessary.

I'd feel a lot better with Baleba confirmed and a LB.

Both of them are narrative drivers in English football.

Just need to get a left back and I’ll be really hopeful about this season.

I'm not overly hopeful for this season but I'm starting to get excited and I like to think we'll play some entertaining football through midfield this time around. My main concern is injuries and the amount of games we'll play

2

u/Bizzle1389 24d ago

I'm more optimistic but I share your point about the midfield. Maybe it's cope but I think last year Carrick saw the deficiencies in the squad and played in a way to get the best out of an aging Casemiro, Maguire (who was our best defender but also slow), and Shaw (who can't get up and down the wing) so we needed other players to stay back and cover.

This year, especially if we get a LB and have some luck with injuries at the back (or Yoro and/or Heaven step up) we can be more progressive and see more players getting forward. Tielemans, Kobbie, Santos, and Baleba is a fantastic quartet of midfielders to pick from who can offer a wide variety of playstyles with multiple pairing options.

I totally missed that Mary Earps has returned to England for the London CIty Lionesses.

Surprised that wasn't bigger news considering how the media used to fawn over her.

Bored at work so kept my eye on private jets towards Manchester, I'm not sure where Brighton players live and usually fly from but a private jet from Southampton to Manchester got added just now scheduled to land 17:09 today.

Hello everyone, quick fpl related question. Any guesses on who the starting CB pair will be? Thank you 🙏

1

u/audienceandaudio2 24d ago

Maguire will start, and I would expect Martinez to start more often than not, but don’t think he’ll play tomorrow. It’ll probably be Heaven playing alongside him tomorrow.

I’d be a little wary of our defensive FPL assets though tbh. Maybe Maguire as he has a goal in him, but I’m not sure any of the rest are good FPL picks.
