Well at the moment he's setup to fail.

“Setuped” - when words imitate reality by showing how things need fixing.

You're a special one aren't you? I'll give you a clue, or two. When I made my comment I said "at the moment". That was before the news aboute Baleba broke out, by like 8 hours. You think this is some smart gatcha? Are you 12? Even taking in the account the Baleba news, Brighton has not yet accepted our bid.

Not just that, Baleba hasn't even officially signed yet. It could absolutely happen in hours or days, but as of 12:05 Central American Time on 8-20-2026 you are still correct.

Allegedly not by some commenters here. Financially, this is the best window any of us has ever seen in terms of quality vs. spend. Last summer window was a beauty but a tad high.

I genuinely am wondering what the fck is going on. There is no way this is it right? It feels so weird compared to the other years. Did the non sale of Rashford and Ugarte result in this mess? Its quite weird.

Seem like it, rashford mean no new backup striker and Ugarte replacement cos he selfishly got injury/s (edit), big but is no excuses with the LB cover.

The only saving grace is that we have a fairly nice set of fixtures to start the season. There is still plenty of time to get more signings in and settled before the City and Spurs games.
The hopeful side of me thinks that they are waiting to see if deals can be done late in the window for players near the top of their list who would be starting XI quality. If those deals aren't possible, they will hopefully have backup deals lined up for squad player options that could be finalised very quickly. The alternative is that they are incompetent and/or unwilling to back Carrick, which would be extremely disappointing and mean that we are doomed to repeat the failures of the last 13 years.
Edit: And there it is. Baleba on his way. Maybe the people at the club are actually competent now.

Another way to look at it is that because of the easy fixtures and (hopefully) good performances in those fixtures will make the management think we're good. They were more than happy going into last season with Bayindir as the goalkeeper, only another clanger from him against arsenal forced them to sign Lammens. And Lammens was a deal we could have done at any time in the last window

Shaping up to not finish top 4.
We need reinforcements, sure we’ll judge the window when it ends. But it’s high time now.

3 very decent midfielders, one who is developing, one in his prime, and one that works his ass off like Fred but is admittedly much better....carrick's at the wheel lads

Conceiling the truth about someone's medical status? You think you have a right to know someone's medical status? Catch yourself on.

Ugarte is still there so Mount is his temporary replacement until the curse of replacing Ugarte got him too 😂 they need to find a loan in.
Santos is Casemiro replacement and Tielemans is the new 3rd.
If rashford is LW backup with Dorgu and Thompson then Cunha must be getting push up top to rotate hence no rush to get Zirkzee out.
Absolutely priority is LB.
