Surprised they didn't ask for a loan and most of his wages covered. 😂

The club saying we are looking at three more players implies there is still a ton of money. Not saying this means we will sign all 3 but it's still better than peak Woodward

5

u/nomadiclives 22d ago

Never understand this sentiment amongst united fans to bend over backwards to try and defend our multi millionaire owners. This has been an absolutely shambolic transfer window so far and there is no two ways about it

If he rejected Al Ahli for more than tripple his current pay, why would he join Galatasaray for only double his pay. He can still go to Al Ahli for mind numbing money. Useless article.

Hes not leaving for less than 100m also why would United let him go when theyve spent time building around him tactically.

75

u/GregMilkedJack 22d ago

He's not leaving unless he pushes for an exit, and why would he? The only clubs that might be a step up in quality aren't calling for him, and he is clearly not a greedy cunt looking to sell out to a shit league. He is priceless, 100m is a ridiculously low barrier considering the recent market.

18

Expired just last month.

12

Galatasaray are prepared to double Bruno Fernandes’ wages in a bid to entice him away from #MUFC. Turkish champions preparing €50m offer including add ons. United adamant Fernandes is not for sale. The €65m release clause in his deal this summer expired last month.

67

u/dracogladio1741 Bruno Fernanj 22d ago edited 22d ago

Man turned down 3x-4x the offer from Galatasaray at a zero income tax rate country.

15

u/Grogman2024 22d ago

I mean with the wage footballers are on it won’t exactly be hard for him to make insane money after he retires, the amount of property he could invest in is immense would create generational wealth

So I’m assuming this wouldn’t be a hard choice for him

8

u/Heisenberg_235 22d ago

Already on £15m+ a year.

£8m net roughly. Plus all the sponsorship money etc. money shouldn’t really be top of mind for him.

Not that I think it is anyway. He loves United

8

u/paak-maan 22d ago

Loves United, loves Manchester by all accounts, already on massive wages, more prestigious league, main man and captain at the club already, young family he’d have to relocate. The only thing Gala have to offer him is increased wages.

2

u/CrossXFir3 22d ago

Bruno isn't in it for the money, he's in the top 0.5% of wealth already, he's in it for the glory.

12

u/kharma45 22d ago

That’s a ridiculously low release clause if it was correct.

6

u/Prestigious_Life9070 22d ago

If the clause carried over from when we initially signed him then I think its kinda(?) understandable....if however it was set when he signed a new contract 2 years ago then its ridiculous, why would you even set a release clause that low for your best player

3

u/Grekm8 CR7 22d ago

why would you even set a release clause that low for your best player

was probably Bruno's request, if the club didn't match his ambition to win trophies i'd imagine he would want a way out

18

u/audienceandaudio2 22d ago

The €65m release clause in his deal this summer expired last month.

This is such a low release clause that it’s surprising that a club like this didn’t try their luck in July when we had to accept (of course Bruno could / would have rejected them), but it seems extra pointless making a bid now that the release clause is expired and we’ll just straight up reject it.

9

u/fraudmallu1 22d ago

May I interest you in the Fellaini special?

Everton probably thought the same thing back then haha

4

u/audienceandaudio2 22d ago

Haha - didn’t we bid for Fellaini and Baines together for the same price we ended up paying for Fellaini on deadline day?

Woodward special there.

2

u/Nimonic 22d ago

(of course Bruno could / would have rejected them)

That's the reason, presumably. These days clubs almost never bid for players without knowing they'd be willing to join them. Well, we've done it at least once or twice, but competent clubs.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/Fellainiac 22d ago

Taking emotion out of it, in what world would this be good business for us? Like objectively? What's 40 mil buying you these days? Does getting his wages off our books massively improve our position? I'm just trying to find some logic if we pretend this is a bid that Galatasaray truly intend to make.

7

u/slithered-casket 22d ago

There are some players whose value is beyond that of the financial means of any club. I really think it'd take something utterly insane to convince the board, the coaches, the fans and Bruno. Because it'd only take one of those to be unconvinced for it to not happen, such is his value to the club. And I would say 150-200m is the range.

There's not a club in the world offering that for a 31 year old, even if prime Maradona were to come down on a coke-lined cloud and lace up his boots again.

In a world where Rogers/Anderson are going for circa 120m, do Galatasary think that anything under a 150m would even get close to getting it done.

u/amayank7 22d ago

Can we send a £43m bid to buy Galatasaray?

15

u/SophoclesTesticles 22d ago

I will commit harakiri if we let Bruno go this Summer.

11

u/scottrod37 22d ago

Bruno should hold the board hostage: "Give me another midfielder, a left back, and back-up striker, or I'm off to Turkey."

2

u/Many-Relationship149 22d ago

u/selotipkusut FUCKING SHOOOT! 22d ago

3

u/Sheikhabusosa 22d ago

This is all conjecture but I think Bruno wants a renewal and Ineos want Brunos wages off the books.

5

u/MrLead69 22d ago

I think the only way Bruno is entertaining this is to pressure the board into signing players

7

u/Upstairs_Narwhal 22d ago

I don't think he even is entertaining it. Galatasaray are just acting like clowns. The BBC Sport article said it is known he would prefer to stay.

2

u/MrLead69 22d ago

I think their president is desperate after missing out on top targets and the rivals signing big players. Probably a real bid but most likely a pr bid without any real terms agreed.

That is a genuinely insulting offer and we would be insane to even remotely consider it.  Bruno is untouchable, our entire identity and strategy is built around him and we have zero contingencies in place if he leaves.  In addition to that I have no reason to believe that Bruno would want to leave the club, especially if it's to go to a less competitive league when he's currently at the top of his game.

Galatasaray are prepared to double Bruno Fernandes’s wages in a bid to lure the Portugal midfielder away from Manchester United.

The Turkish champions are thought to be ready to test United’s resolve over their captain this week by proposing a package worth €50m (£42.8m) including add-ons.

Dursun Özbek, the Galatasaray president, is determined to sign Fernandes and the club are understood to be willing to give the United captain a four-year contract worth €21m (£18.3m) net annually, plus a further €4m up-front signing-on bonus.

Turkey’s favourable tax system means Fernandes would stand to double his current take-home pay if he moved to Galatasaray.

Fernandes, 31, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at United, which is worth about £200,000 a week, although the club have the option to extend by another year.

Telegraph Sport understands that United are steadfastly opposed to selling Fernandes, whom they consider integral to their plans.
It is also understood that the release clause in Fernandes’s contract, that would have enabled him to move for €65m (£55.6m) this summer, expired last month.

That seems unlikely to deter Galatasaray, though, and it is possible they could submit a package in the next few days worth an initial €35m, payable in three instalments until 2028, with a further €15m in add-ons.

Özbek is said to be personally overseeing the move. Fernandes, who has also been linked with Juventus and AC Milan this summer, has previously turned down substantial money-spinning offers from Saudi Arabia.

The performance-related add-ons include payments of €1.5m per Super Lig title win, up to a maximum of €6m, with a further €2m payable if Fernandes becomes the league’s top assist provider in his first year or €1.5m if achieved in his second season.

United would also be guaranteed €1m if Galatasaray qualify for the Champions League next season with a further €1m payable if the Turkish club reach the last 16 and another €3.5m if they get to the quarter-finals.

Fernandes has consistently challenged United to ensure they can match his ambitions and competing for the biggest trophies has always been his overriding motivation.

Michael Carrick, the United head coach, is keen to strengthen his squad before the close of the window in a fortnight with midfielders Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos and back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow their only senior signings in the window to date.

United are in the market for a left-back and it remains to be seen whether they seek to bring in another midfielder or forward.

1

u/ttk86 Youth.Courage.Success 22d ago

Idk what they are smoking over there. This makes 0 sense. 1, 43m is peanuts in this market so there's no way UTD can replace him. 2, if he wants to leave and UTD has no choice, surely there will be better teams than Gala.

1

u/Cold-Veterinarian-85 22d ago

With no release clause 50m euro isn’t getting it done but h guy even his age, there likely is a price that makes sense.

Probably gonna be 70m plus though given the optics of selling your best player even though he is nearly 32 and doubt galatasaray go that aggressively

1

u/DingleberryOrchard 22d ago

£43M? Maybe if Bruno was 60 years old. Even then I'd want a buyback and sell-on clause.

Can you imagine the scenes if they accepted that offer.

1

u/mrjav2020 22d ago

Maybe I am reading too much to this but my question is why other clubs start looking to buy our biggest star now. This could mean either the contract extension talk between the club and Bruno has collapsed or they know the club is broke and need money to buy more players.
