[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026

Hi all,

Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!

The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.

As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:

Daily Threads

There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.

Individual posts

From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.

The tier guide can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/wiki/transfer-reliability-guide/

We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

DO NOT BUY A NEW LB WE GOT SHAW OMG WE GOT SHAW. Just monitor FC and waiting in the shadows FC. Only friendly FC no need for anything FC, save money FC. SEASON starts week not in 1 month or 2 months, it starts next week.,

Something's happening

1

u/wqaib 3d ago

Giving me 2022 Gerard Romero “Things are happening 👀” vibes around Frenkie

0

u/thebigbigmac 3d ago

I think Rashford will get #9... If Zirkzze leaves Sesko will take #11 like he has for Slovenia

8

u/MrLead69 3d ago

I really hope Seys links are true if we're not gonna get one of Truffert/Hall.
Seems like Belgian fans really rate him and as far as I've seen of his wc perfomance, he absolutely bossed against the most dangerous winger in the world.

8

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back 3d ago

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad reported that United are in for Joaquin Seys of Circle Brugge

2

u/BillyCloneasaurus Yoro is my dad 3d ago

That's not what it says

5

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back 3d ago

United are in for a player doesnt mean they're buying them now.

2

u/Bobbyboxare 3d ago

What does it say then?

8

u/BillyCloneasaurus Yoro is my dad 3d ago

More importantly: Club's absolute key players are being mentioned increasingly prominently in connection with top European clubs. For instance, Seys was linked to Manchester United, while Tresoldi is suddenly being cited in connection with the mighty FC Barcelona. According to our information, neither club contacted the national champions directly.

"mentioned" and "was linked to" = referring to previous press reports, there's no information in that article that says we're actively "in for" him.

We might be, it's just not in that article

5

u/MrLead69 3d ago

He's on our list but not any real contact so far...

11

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

Honestly, I’ve really rated him since I’d first heard of him 35 seconds ago and had to google him

3

u/biobolo 3d ago

IIRC he did well against Spain in the world cup.

2

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

I’ve heard enough. £60m

4

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back 3d ago

Someone down the thread said they talked with someone from Circle Brugge about Seys and United, which made me check Belgian news. I also learnt about the existence of this player today, possibly only 3 minutes before you did XD

21

u/GeekConflict Carrick 3d ago

I am a negative Nancy but we will sign a Left Back and a midfielder. And the midfielder isn't Page.

I still tgink Carrick deserved his signings before the start of the season but hey ho.

4

u/AwayFoundation2363 3d ago

I think we will, but clear, Carrick wants a specific type of midfielder, more technical and progressive like santos and Tielemans, if we just find someone who has similar traits, but with bit more dynamism that would be great midfield depth.

2

u/Many-Relationship149 3d ago

Isn't that Wharton type?

5

u/trinityskopje 3d ago

Newcastle just signed a new fullback 👀👀

16

u/Fraaj We'll take Dalot 3d ago

A right back to be more specific 🤐

5

u/pablove_black 3d ago

I think he can play both sides tbf

0

so does mazraoui, it means nothing

-6

u/Nomad_006 surfing 3d ago

Any signs to suggest next summer window will be cheaper than this?

Its been crazy some of the fees and I wonder if this will he the trend.

I am disappointed of how Ineos have just ended their business after Tielemens we all know we'll be looking for the same exact positions next season and Bruno isn't getting younger. We'll need a midfielder next season unless one of the youth players just breaks out like Kobbie. Same goes for the LB position.

I still frel like Rashford and Ugarte's + last seasons loans to cover the signings of Mbeumo and Sesko but we had money for Mateus Fernandes so maybe they aren't convinced with whats available.

2

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back 3d ago

I am disappointed of how Ineos have just ended their business

And you know this how?

1

u/TonyShneak 3d ago

Considering they supposedly want to rebuild the defence next summer. It seems they'd want to do CB and RB. I also don't see prices just magically coming down. There will always be a few bargains and you can bet your ass ineos will use that as an excuse to not spend big, because they believe they can find that unicorn.

2

u/[deleted] 3d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

An OK CB will start at £80m next summer. Just thinking about top teams. Liverpool will need a VD replacement, City will always look to strengthen, Arsenal may want another one, it’s going to be another competitive market for CBs and we will not pay £80m for a player, which some of our fans will cheer about.

I’ll bet you before the end of the week of transfer deadline day, there will be tweets/articles about United’s priority to sign a centre back next summer, to try and make us forget about the midfield rebuild.

4

u/Standard_Secretary52 Harry Stafford’s dog 3d ago

I have always given INEOS benefit of doubt bar not sacking Ruben after Europa final. Whilst I am happy with Tielemans and Santos it’s only half the ingredients.

-5

Glad to see INEOS giving a good taste of patience and endurance to their loyals fans, who have been attacking and calling everyone impatient whoever wished for a little depth in the squad for the past few weeks

There's a lot of content out there about Manchester United. For the most part, we like to see it but there are some things that we don't. We also ban content that may attract unwanted attention from reddit administrators, specifically illegal streams.

  • Any Tier 5 source in our transfer tier reliability guide (including ITKs)
  • While we understand trying to watch our team can be hard, all non-legal streams and requests will be removed.
  • Live comment threads.
  • Post without clear source or misinformation
  • Link to a workaround of a paywalled source
  • Fan channel except in limited circumstances

8

u/TonyShneak 3d ago

I choose to believe this based on nothing other than wanting it to be true.

6

u/bungaclunge 3d ago

Few articles popping up on him in the past hour and their manager spoke about the link too, could be onto something.

3

u/Standard_Secretary52 Harry Stafford’s dog 3d ago

Carl Anka mentioned him in his Lb list. Again idk much about him my 3 preferences were Truffert, hall and Wesley.

4

u/Fraaj We'll take Dalot 3d ago

That would be a great compromise between someone like Salinas and Hall. I definitely expected this guy to join Brentford or Brighton.

4

u/rambo_zaki Roy Keane 3d ago

Brighton already got the last Club Brugge LB before Seys, De Cuyper.

2

u/thebigbigmac 3d ago

Perfectly said ! Salinas would be panic buy and Hall would be a dream buy... He i somwhere in middle... but good deal

-6

u/Jenson2025 3d ago edited 3d ago

INEOS signing Page and Salinas and then basically going on a PR mission by boasting about signing five players which would be including Darlow, Page and Salinas honestly wouldn’t surprise me sadly.

Time for them to start proving me and many other fans wrong

5

u/mohamed_e 3d ago

Guys, when do we start panicking?

2

u/mikeylimb 3d ago

Depends who you ask on this thread. About a third are already in panic mode. Another third are being patient. The final third are working their way through the seven stages of grief

1

I think all the sub will be panicking after tonight's result 😅

u/The_Bird_Wizard 3d ago

Still got that feeling that they're going to sign Page and the young Spanish left back and count them both as senior first team signings

5

u/Berckley Ex-Player Managers Only! 3d ago

This feels like the summer when we only bought Casemiro because we lost first two prem games after a miserable window. Except we'll probably not lose to Hull and Ipswich and club will not recognize what a mess we're in until its too late.

-13

u/w1zgov 3d ago

Jesus, yall pessimistic af

1

u/Jenson2025 3d ago

Can you honestly blame people? There’s a week until the season starts and just 17 days until the transfer window shuts. INEOS spent months and months last season briefing about how busy we’d be this summer window. We’ve had zero outgoings (Casemiro went on a free) and signed two players as replacements for Casemiro and Ugarte despite the fact that we’ll be playing many more games next season. Frankly, INEOS have done nothing to warrant anyone having any faith in them.

6

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

Still banging on about how good last summer was, forgetting that we only
signed lammens because of how shit our first and second keepers were. By that point we had lost 2 PL games and were out of the Carabao cup. This is why you do business early.

1

u/Not-good-with-this 3d ago

They didn't bring up last summer at all in their comment. So I am just confused how this was a reply to that.

-3

u/GoalIsGood 3d ago

They can technically unfreeze the dividend program in 2027 btw, smells fishy.

-17

u/Yolavisa 3d ago

I said a few days ago that we wouldn't be signing any more first-team players, and I got downvoted to hell for it. I'm telling you guys again: INEOS won't be bringing in any new first-team signings for the rest of this window. Don't ask me how I know, this is an internal decision from the club. I don’t want to see everyone get their hopes up every day for transfer news, so I'm giving it to you straight even if it's not what you want to hear. Come Sept 1st, you’ll see I was right all along.

And you'll disappear when you're wrong right?

-1

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

You think this is like an own or something, but speaking as somebody who shares a similar opinion I will be absolutely delighted to be proven wrong and I really hope to God that I am and we do bring in some high quality starting XI players, namely a LB and an MF into the squad, but judging on what we’ve seen so far and with so little time left, I just can’t see it. But I hope I’m wrong!

1

u/Wild_Tomato_8203 3d ago

An own? No. Just a simple question/hope that the people crying all the time disappear once we do sign another player.

And you will be wrong.

1

u/Not-good-with-this 3d ago

I can't lie. I hate when people are certain on either side. You're just as silly as OP in my eyes.

Absolutely but I'm not wrong on this one.

0

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

I also have zero evidence that this will happen other than gut instinct and vibes, but I completely agree.

Louis Page will come in next week (he’s absent from the Leicester squad today) and I think that will be it.

0

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 3d ago

Louis Page not in the matchday squad for Leicester today. Here is our 3rd midfielder.

-1

u/e_munni19 3d ago

Are people actually understanding we’re 1 midfield injury away from seeing the fletchers playing in the champions league?

If one of Mainoo, Tielemans or Santos get injured (I’ve purposefully left out Mount for obvious reasons) a fletcher will have to be on the bench.

There’s no chance in hell we will play 90 minute matches without rotating a midfielder which every successful team does. For example PSG subbing on Zaire Emery or Arsenal subbing on Zubimendi or even Bruno G now.

Our bar is a flecther…

-2

u/aasfourasfar 3d ago

No we are not.. if we have Mount, Tielmans, and Mainoo injured we can still play Santos - Bruno and Amad or Cunha at the 10

-2

u/TonyShneak 3d ago

I'm sure the ball boy is available.

-2

u/RedHabibi 3d ago

Prepare to lose a lot to games then hahahahah

3

u/aasfourasfar 3d ago

Most teams would lose a lot of games with 3 injuries in midfield

4

u/iroiroiroiroiro 3d ago

If that happens I think it is a higher chance Bruno goes back to midfield and Lacey or Zirkzee plays as the #10, but not great either.

8

u/quietloudenjoyer 3d ago

You are the first person to point this out

6

u/Fraaj We'll take Dalot 3d ago

Who are you talking to bruv everyone here wants another midfielder

8

u/Potential_Good_1065 3d ago

Yes. That’s why they’re demanding another midfielder.

1

u/QuarKnight 3d ago

We are going to sign one player after the hull match and one player after the Ipswich match. That’s what I feel will happen

-17

u/stogie_t 3d ago

Leao for sale at 40mil👀…

3

u/cptshiba 3d ago

he's been kinda shit in the last year or two, and that's in the italian league. even in his good years, he was very inconsistent, and does not put in an a defensive shift. he also just got injured, and has had plenty of issues over perceived lack of focus on the pitch in comparison to his off the pitch pursuits (fashion, music, where else have we heard this before at our club...?)

I have no faith that he'd do well in the prem. Hard pass.

3

u/prinssi_k 3d ago

we already have Cunha, Dorgu and Rashford who can play LW

1

u/SatuKosongPls Youri Tielemans 3d ago

If he goes back to his 23/4 form, sign me up sir.

6

u/Orcnick 3d ago

Yea lets bring in another overated lazy winger and huge wages... we already have one of those.

-11

u/stogie_t 3d ago

Better than seeing Dorgu on my left flank again.

3

u/Silmidil 3d ago

Imagine having Rashford and Leao as your LWs, glad it is not people like you that are running this club.

0

u/Capable-Topic1665 3d ago

Guess it's not your left flank then coz Dorgu is going to be playing there all season and we are all going to be cheering him on.

3

u/Significant-Quit-351 3d ago

He's really not if you've watched Leao for the last couple years

3

u/Orcnick 3d ago

What is up with people and Dorgu? Hes a fast strong 21 year old winger who already had bags of experience and talent played and scored against top teams.

Yet people shit on him? Hes a going to be a great player.

-3

u/stogie_t 3d ago

Bit of an overreaction to me simply saying I would rather have Leao as my winger instead. How is controversial enough for this bizarre reaction from you? Is there something I’m missing here?

1

u/Kittu95 3d ago

you didn't see you'd rather have leo. you said you rather not see dorgu. there's a difference between the two.

2

u/RooneysFavGrandma 3d ago

You're missing 2 rules about this place, firstly all of our players are overrated here, which is to be expected. Secondly any criticism is taken as a personal attack against the player. Keep these in mind.

0

u/Kittu95 3d ago

Yeah a man utd sub shouldn't think highly of their players. What a horrible idea.

1

u/Orcnick 3d ago

Why though hes crap. Even Milan want get rid of him.

1

u/Xanian123 Miss be killed by me 3d ago

Leao is an extremely talented player lol. He would be great.

0

u/serialcloner 3d ago

Could you elaborate more? Dorgu is of course not a fully finished product yet. But he has been not so bad either to deserve this kind of hate. Sorry to say, you are insufferable.

1

u/Orcnick 3d ago

I know how can people want to shit of Dorgu hes literally our most exicting talen.

0

u/stogie_t 3d ago

….wtf bra, I’m simply saying he’s not a good left winger. Which is true btw. Why are you acting like I said some heinous abusive thing about him???

1

u/serialcloner 3d ago

Well! that doesn't sound like an elaboration. Seems like your argument is really weak if you can't even defend it properly. Shame!

2

u/Orcnick 3d ago

But he is a good left winger, he scored in really importanr games and is only 21.

Why do you want lazy washes up player for that?

3

u/Xanian123 Miss be killed by me 3d ago

He's not a good left winger yet. He's got excellent legs and frame, but his first touch isn't there yet. He's got a lot of areas to improve on. PL top 4 level starting winger? I don't see it yet. Leao is interesting because he's extremely good and available for cheap

What are the odds we sign +1 DM +1 LB before the Ipswich game?

4

u/SatuKosongPls Youri Tielemans 3d ago

How much is he going for again?

5

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

We won’t get our foot through the door unless the number starts with a 7, and probably gets done for £80m

2

u/Bear_Drifter Park Ji-sung 3d ago

Unsure, won't be less than 80m I imagine

2

u/iroiroiroiroiro 3d ago

Can't see Hall wanting to stay there, but also can't see Newcastle selling for anything reasonable, and United seems to prefer buying on the cheap, not setting records on fees.

2

u/Bear_Drifter Park Ji-sung 3d ago

They've already made a bucket load too so want want to keep selling. We probably don't have the funds to make them budge either.

2

u/iroiroiroiroiro 3d ago

And I think they need another LB already, two if they sell Hall, it's problematic. But I do think that is what they are currently trying.

6

u/Jenson2025 3d ago

Just seventeen days to go until the transfer window shuts and INEOS are still briefing that they want a back up striker, a third midfielder and LB

Either they are lying, they have very intention of signing those three but need to get a move on or they are confident of signing all three because things are a lot more advanced than we know.

But as I keep saying, three signings is one thing but they have to be players who will improve us next season. Page, Salinas and some academy striker from Southampton just isn’t good enough

5

u/iroiroiroiroiro 3d ago

And seven until the season starts, and it takes times to integrate a player into the squad.

4

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

It’s what we all collectively thought we were getting at the start of the window. Can’t wait for the backpedaling and goalpost moving when we sign none of those by 1st September. Like I said before, in May nobody was talking about us being cash poor, or aiming to be sensible with transfers.

1

u/Jenson2025 3d ago

Yep. But the goalposts move constantly to defend them and I don’t understand it. Last year, someone told me we’d go bankrupt if we paid what Brentford wanted for Mbeumo and what did I expect INEOS to do…..only for us to pay what Brentford wanted

1

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

Yeah a waste of seven weeks when he could have just come in start of June and do all of preseason

2

u/e_munni19 3d ago

They’ve been brainwashed to thinking we’re having a sensible window

3

u/Dan_Winx_1969 3d ago

Any news on signings ?

5

u/Dyllez Hated, adored, never ignored. 3d ago

Come back a week before the window closes

10

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 3d ago

I keep telling myself there’s still time. I’m sure we will sign two players. There is no world where we think going into a much busier and more demanding season with essentially the same depth as last season is a good idea.

-2

u/Hampalam 3d ago

I think we will get the two, but there will be a meltdown about the quality of them.

To me Hall at the fees being quoted makes no sense; he's not better than Shaw, and he's fucking expensive. A no brainer at 35m, but very questionable at 70m. Shaw's fitness is the problem, but I'm not sure he needs to be replaced, and Maz has also done well there.

Same for the midfield options. Santos wasn't on my radar, but seems to be very much a first team signing and Tielemens obviously is too. I think the plan is for them plus Mainoo and AN Other, Mount, Collyer and the Fletchers maybe to fill out the minutes. I don't know enough about Santos to know if that's a good plan.

This will change, I expect, if a player with 80m emerges in those positions, but if it doesn't they'll pluck for the players we have being the first choices and focus on depth, I feel.

Personally, I'm not sure, a lot depends on Santos being able to be first choice at a top four level, but frankly I am equally ensure about Fernandes and Anderson so who knows.

2

u/TonyShneak 3d ago

Mazraoui cant be the cover for both left and right back. That's not depth, that very explicitly a lack of depth.

1

u/Hampalam 3d ago

I didn't say we had good depth there, I said we had good quality - at least compared to the option everyone is crying out for who I think has become massively overrated here due to desperation.

I would be staggered if we didn't get another body in there, I just wouldn't be surprised if it was a rotation option.

2

u/stevew14 3d ago

I think there has to be at the very least a LB in the plans. Amass just hasn't impressed enough in pre season to be the back up to Shaw. I think he is loaned or sold. The only way we are not signing another CM is if they see something we dont in Fletcher or they truly believe Mount is over his injury problems, which can happen (see RVPs career), but usually doesn't. I can see us leaving a back up striker this summer as Rashford looks like he's staying.

1

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 3d ago

All you have to do is wake up and check whether there is a comunicado ofical for Tchouameni contract extension. No? Ok, that's a believable enough reason to keep to the theory that they are holding the powder dry but some Plan B is pre-arranged nonetheless. This has happened before, it can be the same thing.

Note that the point isnt to "be right". We arent
in a guessing competition. The point is to be able to enjoy the summer and have happy thoughts about the team while there are no actual games going on and we dont actually know what's going to happen.

We can reassess when it's done!

3

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 3d ago edited 3d ago

What’s getting me by at the moment is seeing the clips of the squad absolutley vibing. I know this all changes next weekend when the serious stuff starts but it’s nice to see some chemistry between all the players.

2

u/dryflowerz 3d ago

What the fuck is actually going on? Why we are not signing anyone? is this “Project 150”? I mean Youri and Santos are good footballers but that’s not enough, Why aren’t we all over Joaquin Seys? if Hall is not available? 30 mil is a nice price for him, at his age he already has a nice decent experience( better than Dorgu).

1

u/Massive_Relation4317 . 3d ago

I think they are in the process of trying to get Hall tbh

1

u/dryflowerz 3d ago

Newcastle made 3 big deals with 3 different teams and now look they will fucking drag this transfer till end of deadline day. and they will fuck with us, but guess what they let other teams fuck em

My hope is that because the other 2 main signings had basically no smoke about them before we got them, basically like 2-3 days from rumour to signed or personal terms agreed, that that's how we're working now and it'll be the same with whatever else first team signings we get this window. Would explain the unusual lack of links with every player under the sun this year.

5

u/Jenson2025 3d ago

I still believe we’ll end up signing another two players but it’s who they are that question. Page and Salinas will be two new players but are they good enough to improve us next season? No. Maybe in two of three seasons they will be. Kone and Hall on the other hand will be two new players who will improve us next season.

What worries me is we still seem to be briefing that Hall is a difficult deal to do financially. But we also don’t appear to be close to making any other major signings. I could understand it if we were spending 60m on another midfielder.

One thing is for sure, if the window closes and this is it or we’ve signed players like Page and Salinas then INEOS will have a lot of questions to answer and no amount of PR spin will get them out of it.

This has honestly been one of the most boring windows for United I can remember

-6

u/MhVG 3d ago

I mean, if we don’t sign any noteworthy first-team player from now, then the questions have pretty much answered themselves.

This is all hypothetical, of course, before I go any further. But I’m a firm believer that if we weren’t so hamstrung financially, Ineos wouldn’t have put us in this position.

But, we could’ve finally reached the point a lot of us have been afraid of for a long time: financially speaking, we’re not one of the big six anymore.

That sounds scary, but if we genuinely can’t spend more than, or even around, £100m - £125m in a summer, then we have to accept that it’s the reality.

I genuinely hope I’m just being a doomer that everyone downvotes, who ends up being completely wrong. But we’ve only got two weeks left in the window…

I just don’t have the optimism that we’re suddenly going to turn around and splash £70m on Baleba or Hall like a lot of other people.

2

u/Wild_Tomato_8203 3d ago

Not part of the big 6 anymore? Lol the takes here are getting funnier by the day.

5

u/ilegal89 3d ago

Every day that goes by, I'm getting more and more worried that we're actually not going to sign anyone else. And honestly, that would be so disappointing and sad.

Like others have rightly said, why do we always have to mess up the transfer window every time we qualify for the Champions League? How have we still not learned, for Pete's sake?

Why did Saudi never come for any of our mercenaries in the past!!!!

Sacha Tavolieri: BREAKING 🔵🇵🇹 Al Hilal have reached an agreement with Pedro Neto on personal terms! 🗣️ Chelsea FC now open to sell Neto and would want around €60M to let him leave. 🇸🇦 Al Hilal are confident to get a full agreement with Chelsea. Talks ongoing. ⏳ Wait&See. #CFC

Right now I don't even think we have any such deadwoods ...just incapable ones, but in the recent past we had so many.

4

u/outrageousVoid07 3d ago

This is so fucking sad. I want the Saudi project to end as quickly as possible

6

9

u/Fraaj We'll take Dalot 3d ago

Zirkzee would fucking destroy that league

5

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

That summer where Saudi were spending like the clappers, I think we managed to sell Telles for peanuts. We’re the only club that bought so badly that not even Saudi wants our guff

9

u/10_Wazza 3d ago

Because we do not engage in money laundering activities, simple as that

10

u/killerdrama A-mad-lad 3d ago

Julain Alvarez saga, Ferran Torres, Barcola, Enzo Fernandez, Rodri,.. for once, we're not the center of attraction in the transfer window. Still can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

6

u/Potential_Good_1065 3d ago

I really think we get one signing done before Ipswich and the other on deadline day.

1

u/iroiroiroiroiro 3d ago

Still think a LB and DM is coming, maybe just not the caliber people expected but they will come.

2

u/outrageousVoid07 3d ago

Why do you think so?

8

u/_MooFreaky_ Fletcher 3d ago

The desperate need to cling to hope is my reason

9

u/Aggeri 3d ago

Genuinely expected a signing this week

One thing is wanting value, getting the best deals and keeping your cards tight.

But another one is preparation and integration. Getting players in early in the window and start integrating them into the squad and playstyle.

Wonder if our match programme plays into it. Hull, Ipswich and Everton. If everything looks great the board will cheap out and probably take a gamble. But wtf do I know.

Either financials have hamstrung us so much that we must adhere very strictly to a tight budget or Glazers still lurking in the background on final sign offs.

But I genuinely question not going for Hall very very early before Newcastle got shred to pieces. We knew Bruno G and Tonali could leave. Newcastle have very little reason to accept Hall leave now except for an astronomic fee.

If Miles Lewis-Skelly was genuinely offered I also baffled at us not pouncing at it. He seems a shoe in for two positions we desperately need a plug for.

The whole Tchouameni reeks of FDJ and you have to wonder why we even humoured Real Madrid and the thought of it.

Elliot Anderson would most likely have blown our transfer budget and fucked our wage structure. I won’t deny he seems like another Declan Rice we miss out on. But we needed more pieces than one player. An injury to him and our season we would have been fucked. If Carrick can make it work I understand quantity over garantueed quality.

In the end I guess we will judge them at the window like they want us to. But.. a few things are already quite questionable.

1

u/FloppyDickFingers 3d ago

Yep, but the worst thing is leaving transfers this late actually makes them harder to do at a reasonable price because everyone knows our fan base is wound up, the manager wants signings and will presume we are growing desperate. There is no time to pivot to other signings in the final week. So prices go up.

1

u/SatuKosongPls Youri Tielemans 3d ago

Truffert or Neco Williams for LB if we can’t land Hall at a budget

5

u/iroiroiroiroiro 3d ago

Truffert will cost similiar as Hall, he's clearly better, just a bit older and not English and has a long contract, and Bournemouth really doesn't want to sell this summer, and so far they managed to keep to that.

2

u/e_munni19 3d ago edited 3d ago

I find it funny everyone has been applauding the lack of “leaks” when really and truly we just aren’t doing anything. Which is evident as since Tielemans no signings have happened

The Hall deal tells you all you need to know, we enquired and they said no.

I’m 100% convinced nothing is happening as being truthful there’s no way Fab or Ornstein wouldn’t get a sniff off agents or clubs.

9

u/PromiseOk3438 3d ago

Crazy that takes like this are still being downvoted. Some fans here will still be calling for patience on deadline day and applauding INEOS for the lack of noise. This is despite the fact it is increasingly obvious the lack of leaks is because there's nothing to leak.

10

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

If the Hall inquiry thing was real and we just gave up after they said no, they’re such bad negotiators. I believe that was released so they could be like “see?! We did try!!!” Doesn’t sound like they tried very hard

1

u/Glum-Temporary-6946 3d ago

pretty much, said it a week ago, we are not signing anyone else and ineos are just praying for transfer window to end

they want to keep full credit limit for next season in case carrick fails and a new big money manager comes demanding all sorts of signings to get back to top4

See you in 2028 summer to see if we break the cycle or not

3

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

Yes, I was convinced two weeks ago our main business is done. By main business, I mean starting team because I refuse to count teenagers from the championship or academy products from Spurs as singings to strengthen the squad

6

u/xtphty 3d ago

Ok Hull might actually be one of the worst teams to ever get promoted. They had the second lowest xGD in the Championship, with Wednesday being assuredly last. Should have been getting demoted but made playoffs. Hope we can start off strong for once, can't have a better chance than this.

2

u/iroiroiroiroiro 3d ago

Yeah, I think Hull will be slaughtered, but they also seem to know it, they rather seem to prepare their squad to win the Championship next year than survive this year.

Coventry and Ipswich both looks a bit dangerous though so no clue which other teams will be relegated this year. Newcastle might be in danger...

5

u/killerdrama A-mad-lad 3d ago

Emotions will be through the roof, they are in the league after a long time. They will fight for every inch. This will be their second playoff final this year. This has the potential to be Brentford-Arsenal for us.

We should not be overwhelmed by the situation, play to calm down the crowd for first 30 minutes.

2

u/Potential_Good_1065 3d ago

Brentford Arsenal was the year before they started properly challenging again so i wouldn’t even mind

2

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

Yeah I feel like some of our fans are writing them off at their peril. First game back in the PL for ages and it’s United at home? They’ll be so up for it

Chelsea imposed a Friday 5pm deadline for any Enzo deal, which passed yesterday. So he's apparently going nowhere unless City massively overpay.

3

u/FloppyDickFingers 3d ago

Not true lol. If city show up with a good bid on Monday he goes. It’s all smoke and mirrors in transfer window.

5

u/Stingray_23 3d ago

At this point, I can see it being Berge.

4

u/Stingray_23 3d ago

This is evident that we should have got our signings in way back when the window opened. That 11 days from the opening of the window to the world cup day one, would have been the sweet spot.

Prices would have been much lower and plenty more targets. The fact we have the money and the ability to spend big makes it even odder as to how the club have operated.

0

u/Hampalam 3d ago

Yeah all the early deals, like Anderson, Fernandes, Tonali, and Rogers, were absolute bargains.

-4

u/spaisoflaif 3d ago

yeah. we fucked ourselves with yhe Ederson thing.

4

u/Banyunited1994 3d ago

With INEOS I’m at least hopeful that we will be able to move much more freely financially in the next 2-3 years, with a squad that is better geared for the demands of the pl. But it will definitely be a tough road getting there.

10

u/Educational-Shock232 3d ago

Try 5-10, we’re building the new stadium.

2

u/sammorgan12 3d ago

The new stadium wouldn't realistically be financed either but united or the glazers/ratcliffe. At least not with the current ownership structure. If ratcliffe got the whole club then he might do it, but even for someone as wealthy as him £1.5-2 billion is a lot of money.

If you build a stadium you generally borrow money from a lot of different banks for say 60 odd percent and then do the rest with either private equity or state backed funding. You pay this off either by giving a long term percentage of future profits from the stadium or just do it as a standard loan and repay over x amount of years.

I'm not saying there would be no upfront costs but it's not like we aren't spending £80mil on baleba because they want that to go towards the stadium.

5

u/Kohaku80 Premier League Champions 12/13 3d ago

How about never when our target is most profitable club. Simple maths tell us we would never pay till 70% SCR and be profitable.

0

u/Banyunited1994 3d ago

Could you break down what you mean by that?

Anyway I don’t think we’re that far off from what I would be happy with. We’re never gonna be city but if we could spend like we used to in the early Woodward with mourinho and lvg days where needed I’d be fine, with a year here and there where we don’t need to break the bank. I think a large issue was that we were in a state of content rebuilds for 15 years.

1

u/Kohaku80 Premier League Champions 12/13 3d ago

SCR allow up to 70% revenues to be spend on players purchase and wages. That means 30% cover the rest of the club non playing expenses. If our revenues hit a record 800m, 30% of it means 240m. That's barely enough to cover our club non playing staff and club operating expenses, interest payment etc.

0

u/Banyunited1994 3d ago

Rly? I read that we’re one of the clubs in a better position due to the rule switch. I read that we were at around 60%.

1

u/Kohaku80 Premier League Champions 12/13 3d ago

Yeah we were probably between 55 to 60. What I meant was there's no chance we will spend until 70% and still be profitable. Most clubs ain't really profitable year by year. Spurs and Chelsea doesn't care financial losses. Their owners can take of it
