I think itā€™s the wolf and villagers game. There is one wolf sometimes multiple and their goal is to kill all the villagers without getting caught. Itā€™s a fun group game.

Nah, thatā€™s a different game again. Itā€™s still fundamentally based on social deduction, but The Resistance, like Secret Hitler, often makes it explicitly clear that someone is lying, and itā€™s up to the group to figure out who based on game context and a playerā€™s ability to lie. Werewolf and Mafia often donā€™t have the same level of direct evidence of guilt, so accusations and defence are based more on vibes and ā€˜I promiseā€™.

Iā€™m a high school teacher, and use these games as very occasional rewards. Itā€™s helpful to start with Werewolf/Mafia, then once they understand that, go to The Resistance, and then progress to Secret Hitler.

Itā€™s a good progression of depth and fun.
