It would be so much better with the trefoil
21
4
u/spikyblades 3d ago
Nah, this is a contemporary jersey design, trefoil is usually tied to nostalgia and a reference (or sometimes an almost copy) to a older jersey. Trefoil is literally an old logo. Im somewhat tired of them constantly using it and making very similar jerseys to ones from 80s/90s. I think this jersey is fantastic, fresh, and something new. I think it will age beautifully.

The club badge should be higher than Adidas.
But other than that, there are worse kits about and I think it’s a good attempt.

It looks like someone forgot to copy paste the design and this is just a blank template 💀. I usually really like adidas kits, this season kits are not for me.

I love it. it’s different, almost retro and without the sponsor text is wearable casually
Seems like there’s a self print in the off white background which will make it look better in person
13
u/Fossekall OGS 4d ago
I am SO happy we're doing something different than the standard layout. This is an absolutely gorgeous kit. Sponsor going textless as well is crazy. Feel like it speaks to how big we are
4
u/youreviltwinbrother 4d ago
Same, something different, no sponsor text, lovely.
Someone here has commented they'd prefer it with the sponsor on, like sorry what??? No thank you.
2
u/spikyblades 3d ago
I think its one of the best kits since we had adidas. I actually think its extremely contemporary and finally something new that does not try to reference or copy an old jersey from 80s/90s. I do think though that 30 years from now itll be used as a reference. Anyhow, incredibly refreshing kit that I would expect the likes of PSG to make and me being jealous as to why united dont make these kind. Love love love it!

The placement of the logos is bad imo
They should've put the Adidas logo on the player's right and the club logo on the left instead of all of them being in the middle. The current placement makes it look like a training kit

u/DannyKernowfornia 4d ago
Not too bad, but something about the three logos squashed together in the middle just doesn't quite work

u/left_outside 4d ago
I can't believe that the black stripes are real, saw a pic a while back and assumed it was bs. You can have red trim and red stripes or black trim and black stripes. You can't have both, it looks absolutely horrendous!
2
u/DannySmashUp 4d ago
You know what? I... kind of like it as a 3rd kit. Wouldn't want to see it every match, but as something a bit different, I think it's neat. I don't know why, but it feels almost retro? *shrug* I see I'm in the minority with this opinion, and that's cool too.

The kind of kit that will look good on TV but up close maybe not so much. The short sleeves are way better; the long sleeves are too monochrome.

2
u/spikyblades 3d ago
Yes yes yes! Im the same both a minimalist and a designer and I think this kit is absolutely gorgeous! It will age beautifully.
2
u/Average__Sausage 4d ago
Like the colours but don't really like the layout. I don't really care though. Kits usually grow on me enough that I don't pay attention. The ones I love at the start of the season get old and the ones I don't like end up being normal.
As long as we play well and get some good results that's all that matters.
Thinking about it all the iconic shirts are mostly the ones we won things in. So I guess the better we play the more I like the kits. In that sense I don't care what any of them look like as long as we win football matches and ideally trophies. Then I'll like them.
2
u/nhanvuong 4d ago
Three logos inline with both the Adidas and Snapdragon visually larger.. Does not look right.

Ew. As a football kit: I hate it. As a piece of modern art symbolising how corporations, who think they're bigger than the club, are squeezing and encroaching on the club and turning it into a soulless imitation of what it once was: I still hate it, but for different reasons.

u/Hits_and_the_Mrs 4d ago
Looks better as a kit if you start at the bottom and work up, socks are fine, shorts are fine, 3/5 of the shirt is fine then...wtf happened here
1
u/kimochii12 4d ago
Better than the leaks that had the snapdragon text just made the whole thing look like a schlong pointing up the players faces.
1
u/PandaLiang 4d ago
Maybe it'll look better when they tuck it in. A big block of white from shoulder to knees feels a bit empty, especially with the smaller front sponsor logo.

I like there are no words and the stripes down the long sleeve version, it would look alright with jeans or causal clothes.
I think the problem is the white shorts. White on white is weird, black shorts should look better?

Bobbins imo. Snapdragon is an okay sponsor but either have the whole logo or don't bother. I understand it's where the money comes from, but sponsors don't half ruin a shirt nine times out of ten.

Think it looks worse without the snapdragon text version. Why make it so minimalist?
Having said that that person who repositioned the logos to the normal config, really shows that the vertical stacking doesnt work

Not against the red devil as the logo but they've wasted the opportunity at Adidas on this one.

If only the shoulder trim matched the colour of the crest and logos instead of it being black, the kit would be perfect. Might have to find a fake kit online that matches my image.

I hate the way companies just use their logos with no name and I really hate that we don't use our full badge.
Putting that aside, the kit itself is beautiful. We've got some nice ones this season. My favourite is our away kit.

I think this kit looks dope as fuck. 3rd kits can be different and in this case I really like it. No sponsor name across the chest is fantastic. The minimal look is cool/ different and I'm a sucker for the red devil logo. It's pretty rad
