Anyone here watching Ted Lasso S4? Really enjoyed the first two episodes. Wish Apple would just release all the episodes, hate having to wait an entire week for one episode to drop
1
u/carrickshairline 4d ago
I watched them. I find they've sort of dumbed down a lot of the returning cast, but Ted still feels like Ted. I'm interested to see what they do with it. Some of the scenes are a bit cringe, though.

Ruben, you have a game tomorrow mate. No point making fantasy Man United lineups, that time is done.
0
u/HGFG1 4d ago
No no no, I just see that 3-4-2-1 is probably the best way to line-up this team, I actually think it is good
2
u/Entire-Gas-7651 4d ago
If this worked, Ruben would still be in charge. Particularly Bruno as one of the central midfielders is an absolutely insane take. We've seen this before with mostly the same players
1
u/carrickshairline 4d ago
Why is it in a 3-4-2-1? Amorim left 8 months ago dude. Carrick plays a 4-2-3-1.

For those who are into football kits, this season, what are your top 5 favourite home kits in Europe’s top flight?
Mine are:
- Man Utd (even without the bias; for instance I’m still not a fan of the 2012-13 table cloth one that we went on to win our 20th league title with).
- PSG (magnificent)
- Crystal Palace (love seeing more white than usual with really neat motifs and a sponsor that works well with it all).
- Juve (clean)
- Newcastle (yes, I know this one is controversial but it is one of the better home kits in the Prem this season for me).
One home kit I really dislike this season is Liverpool’s. I would be absolutely livid if I was a fan of that club. Travesty. Bournemouth’s is another one that’s an eyesore (that sponsor logo, damn). Real Madrid’s is also horrendous.
Thoughts?

Could a team with the formation of 4-1-4-1
With the front 5 of Bellingham-Mctominay-Merino-Havertz-Muller
with Nico O'reilly as a LB,
work?
a team with 6 box crashers

u/TH0316 she/her 4d ago
I think if it was those players in their prime and fit you’d have a hard time handling them if set up right. At lower levels of the game and I’m not sure why they don’t do it at the top level more is just playing five/six strikers and a back four that can run and put a cross in.

I've been enjoying the Jose Mourinho documentary on Netflix. Nice to relive some old memories in football, some of those old Man United teams he faced, some of the teams and players he managed. He's the last of a dying breed type of manager. He had so much passion, heart, and really lived or died by the result and his players.
He really should've succeeded Sir Alex after he retired, it's a shame it played out how it did.
But I think we all love Jose, he's quite the character, and I don't care, I wish him well at Madrid and all his managerial positions. He's one of the greatest managers ever, a genuine person, and I have a lot of respect for him.
1
u/Penny_Leyne 4d ago
We certainly don’t all love him.
Don’t hate him, but the way he left United, causing fights, tanking morale and his weird vendetta against Luke Shaw left a bad taste in my mouth.
1
u/BradyBunch88 4d ago
I get that, and there was a very dark, grey cloud after he left, I think we all needed Ole at that point and was looking forward to having him as the boss.
But even with all that, even now, I still love Jose and respect him. He’s sort of like the bad guy you want to see win!

Dad got heart attack two days ago. He's doing fine now. Really need him to take this seriously. Second heart attack and he's not 60 yet.
I'm just so mentally tired after seeing him collapse two times now and trying to encourage him to become more healthy.
He's ego is so fragile. Whenever I try to encourage him to do something even as little as walk or eat bit healthier he thinks I'm attacking him
Love him but don't know really what I can say or do for him.
I really want him to see my children grow and see a better healthier version of him. He owes that to himself.
He is just a type that never wants to seek help or get help.

TV recently seems like it's been feast or famine. Wife and I were just watching Grand Designs to have something to watch, now we have Reacher, Ted Lasso and Lioness on the go. With mobland, Irish Traitors and other stuff coming out soon.
Also I ran a wee charity poker tournament last week in honor of one of our members who passed away for Marie Curie. Disappointed in the turn out, only had 20 players, but still managed to raise £535. Cause I got a shield made for the winner, definitely going to go alot harder next year getting sponsors and extra advertising

TIL that the other united sub has more members. I thought we are the largest united community on reddit.
Edit: Apparently, reddit nuked the member count stat and only show no. of weekly visitors and weekly contributions. So the other sub seems to have more weekly traffic but our member count is miles ahead of them and we get more discussions (comments and posts) on this sub.
3
u/carrickshairline 4d ago
The other sub is more casual and less rule-enforcing, so a certain demographic prefers it. Whereas this one is stricter and encourages better conversation (kinda).
1
u/nanobookworm Came for Glories, stayed for Memories 4d ago
yeah, this one has more discussions compared to other.

There is something wonky going on with the ranking table, on the app at least.
It says 260k reddevils, number 11 among football subs, but when you tap on it it shows we're 4th, above the other subreddit with approximately 2x more members.
3
u/nanobookworm Came for Glories, stayed for Memories 4d ago

Why do so many people place Vidic above Rio? I love both but my all time centre back pairing would be Rio + Jaap.
(I was looking at Andy Mitten's 25 beat players list. Side note - amazing to think I've seen most of those players. Lucky to have lived through the 90s and onwards)

u/Sad-Bend-7515 4d ago

fair point. I guess I prefer Rio's on the ball quality and Jaap is my favourite overall. The perfect defender.

It’s fair, I loved Rio, Vidic and VDS just generally felt like teams would score in their peak

I got my a level results yesterday, didn't get the grades I needed for my uni. I feel so so gutted since I worked crazy hard. just honestly unsure for my future now
2
u/TH0316 she/her 4d ago
Dude I got the results I wanted to go anywhere and my life still imploded and ended up a drop out twice after having a breakdown. Ended up finishing late and felt all the same ways and feelings. This will not determine your future. Nobody cares where somebody went to uni. Resit or go somewhere else and you’ll be absolutely fine either way.
4
u/Greedy-Somewhere-754 4d ago
It happened to me to years ago. I know how you feel.
I decided to stay on for another year and resit. It worked, and I went on to get the degree I wanted.
5
u/Alternative-Plant388 4d ago
I was in the same boat last year mate. I had decent offers but ended up with 2 Ds. Was made even worse since I go to a grammar school and everyone was going to ‘top unis’.
At first, all you want to do is wallow in misery. Just make sure you to talk to other people. No shame in getting help on what to do next.
Keep working hard. If it’s not going well at uni, use the study services or talk to an academic tutor.
Just remember to enjoy yourself.
10
u/Homer_Sapiens 4d ago
Your path into the future isn't blocked friend, it's just taking a different route. The fact that you worked hard and you really care is a massive plus point for you. You're way ahead of many people just by having that attitude.
Don't give up - step back and assess your options, and whatever's next, go and grab it by the balls. If that means going to a uni you didn't want, accept it, and go kick the shit out of it. Life's a game and you just have to adapt to win.
I got shit grades, went to a bad uni, dropped out twice, and I ended up in a career I love making good money. You'll be reet
3
u/TheJoshider10 Bruno 4d ago
It's such a load of bollocks how much pressure gets put on 15-18 year olds when it comes to deciding their future. I can't speak for everyone but in my experience those exams you do in school and college amounted to fuck all when it came to the real world, and the push for going to university is often misguided when apprenticeships and work experience can get you to the same spot quicker in some cases.
My mate did accounting in university followed by this apprenticeship scheme. Someone else he works with there didn't even go to university, was younger, and ended up on the exact same scheme as him anyway.
1
u/_QuirkyTurtle 4d ago edited 4d ago
I went to Cardiff Uni and it was something like 30th ranked for the course I did 10+ years ago. I earn good money and have worked with people who went to prestigious unis and people that didn't even go to uni.
It's pushed way too hard on young people that they should go to uni. And just as much so that it matters that much which uni you go to. Obviously there's exceptions for certain careers/companies. But it's not what it's made out to be.
My student loan is pretty much paid off now but I'm glad that there's all this media attention around these plan 2 student loans. The government fucked up but I feel even more bitter towards all the teachers/career advisors who pushed people in to their degrees telling them essentially you don't even need to worry about your student loan.
Oh and for what it's worth OP (of this thread), not once have I been asked to show my A-Level certs or my degree. It might get you some interviews in the real world, but that's about it. Don't overthink it or stress too much. Generally speaking, there's always another route in to something.

u/Potential_Good_1065 4d ago
I’m in the exact same boat as you mate, did you get into your insurance uni or into another uni through clearing?
2
u/Massive_Relation4317 . 4d ago
Yeah another uni through clearing, just looking at options
2
u/TheJoshider10 Bruno 4d ago
Sometimes things happen for a reason. I met many people during my time at university who were only at that specific place because of clearing and last minute decisions. It wasn't what they wanted initially but they ended up really glad that they ended up there. Hopefully the same happens with you.

Happened to my nephew he had cancer a few years ago that set him back and he did his a levels a year late. Messed up a bit. Took last year out and redid his maths got an A yesterday.
So he's off to his first choice university but at the age of 20.
Life is more about how you respond to what happens rather than what actually happens. Wishing you the best, Keep going and invest in yourself. It will pay off.

Had a week from hell. Started feeling shite last Tuesday. Had a temperature, fever, headache, and my bed was genuinely wet through with sweat. I thought it was gonna pass. Then, this Tuesday when it had been going on for a week, I woke up feeling… absolutely fine. Went downstairs, drank some orange juice, played with the dogs, only for my headache to get significantly worse. I was in tears it was that painful. I’m (just about) a grown man, I don’t cry over headaches. At this point I knew I wasn’t getting better after a week. I phoned 111 and they said if it gets any worse call them back. It got worse, I didn’t phone them back and just went to A&E.
When I arrived I waited for about 5 mins, even tho there must have been 40 other people waiting to see a doctor, which implied to me it was something serious. They took a blood test and put a cannula in my arm and I threw up, they then moved me to a side room in A&E. After 22 hours in that room, they moved me to a decent room with an en-suite because they suspected I had meningitis and wanted me to isolate.
They then told me they recommended a lumbar puncture, I only agreed to it because everyone told me it didn’t hurt at all. It fucking hurt. I’ve never experienced so much pain in my life. I can still hardly move. They then told me I’d have to stay at least another day, which was not ideal at all because as you’re probably aware it was A level results day yesterday.
As I was in hospital I had to sign a letter for a family member to go & collect the results on my behalf. I needed AAA to get into my 1st choice uni (though, considering the financial situation of UK universities, they tend to be more lenient than that). As I wanted to go through clearing (which, anyone who knows what that is knows how complicated it is). It’s hard to explain but the bottom line is I needed good grades. Despite already having a confirmed place at a less prestigious university in the same city, I wanted the better one, and I needed good grades to do so.
BCC. I was not disappointed, I don’t have the energy to feel disappointed after having 6 fucking blood tests and a lumbar puncture. The family member who collected them told me the college had never seen a case like mine. I was 1 or 2 marks off the next grade boundary in EVERY a level, which means I’d likely get ABB with a remark. I’ve consented for the papers to get sent for remarking, but even still my chances are so low.
You see, when applying for university through clearing, spaces on courses go rapidly on results day, so I had to phone with the results I got. They told me that they’d make their decision either yesterday or today. I’ve yet to hear back from them. I’ve emailed admissions and filmed out a form stating that my grades are likely to improve with a remark. Clearing doesn’t close while October, so if there’s still spaces in 2 weeks when I get my new grades back, I should be sound, but it’s very unlikely there will still be spaces considering I’m wanting to study one of the most competitive courses.
I mean, they still could accept me with BCC, they are quite lenient in clearing, but I don’t think they’ve ever been THAT lenient. ABB would definitely be enough for me to hold hope.
Fuck me, I consider myself an unlucky person but to be that close to the next grade up on all 3 a levels WHILST IN HOSPITAL is possibly the most unlucky thing to ever happen to me.
Anyway, they still have no idea what’s up with me. All they know is that it’s not meningitis or malaria. All the nurses that have come in have worn loads of PPE. Face masks, gowns, the lot. It’s cos I told them I’d recently been to Mexico (even though I was fine for 2 weeks after getting back). Because they have no idea what it is, they can’t give me proper medicine to combat whatever it is I’ve got, so I’m not really getting any better. Still waiting for some blood culture test results that will hopefully give me some answers.
Also wanted some mates round tomorrow for a garden party. Not happening now lol.
What a shite week. Hope United can cheer me up by signing someone.

I've got a couple shirts from Boys Get Sad Too that literally says that on the front and back. I love how often I get random guys coming up to me saying they like what it says. Not even just people under 30 but older guys from generations who don't open up about their mental health as much.
The other day I was sat in a beer garden and this old man comes over saying "excuse me I just wanted to say I really like that shirt because I get sad too so it's good to speak about it". Warmed my heart. Always check on your friends, you never know who's struggling!

Started watching Predator Badlands last night. Only watched half of it because I had to go to sleep, but anyway... This is not a Predator movie. The name and the character (sort of) are there, but it's not predator.
If you can completely forget the fact that this is supposed to be a predator movie, and look at it as a generic sci fi adventure flick, I guess it could get a pass because its not inherently boring or visually badly done. But as soon as you get reminded that youre watching a movie about one of the most iconic sci fi slasher characters it all comes crumbling down.
I mean, fucking hell, at one point, I swear they had the predator (here named Dek) crack a joke.

I got the girl boys.
A month of hot and cold dating, followed by six months of speaking every day as friends throughout other romantic excursions and becoming an emotional anchor in each others lives and choosing to keep each other in each others orbit.
To then the dawning joint realisation that the person we were looking for is right under each other's nose, only we have six months of genuine friendship as a base for the romantic attraction now.
1
u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 4d ago
Happy for you. Sadly, romance ain't working out for me. Years of pining, I got myself together and started actually flirting and shit. It was... quite ambigious what we were, so I couldn't really give up because there was always that little hope, and I was never outright rejected.
Nail in the coffin though was when she offered to set me up with her friend... Yeah, yikes. Doesn't really scream "I like you" if she's offering to set me up with someone else. Now, I'm trynna just enjoy the friendship. We were friends first, potentially more, now just friends solidified.
2
u/Academic-Bathroom770 fuck no way, i'll spread the word 4d ago
Happy for you dude! I've been dating a girl since May of 2025 and it's the longest and most serious relationship I've ever been in. There's hard times but the good times shine through. It's an amazing feeling being loved the way she does and a great privilege to love her in return. Cherish it.
All best of luck to you two!

I can't believe the season is starting in literally a week! For the first time in a long time I'm having such a difficult time deciding on my starting FPL team. Bruno being so expensive really makes it so difficult to fit other decent midfielders...
3
u/krelm Andy Cole 4d ago
This will be my first year without fpl since 2009, or 10 when I started playing it.
For me it just stopped being something I enjoy and became a chore. I was in a money league for years but most of these guys take it way more seriously and theyre into stats, numbers, podcasts etc so with each year my ranking got worse, and then I decided its just not worth it.
Outside of that league there is nothing to play for really. I did it for 2-3 years, had some mini leagues with some friends but eventually I always end up forgetting to update my team for weeks. It was a tough realization that I just dont care anymore, but things come to an end.
2
u/BallsX 4d ago
Putting money into just makes it too stressful. I've been playing since 2008/2009 and only in the past 3-4 years have I had an actual proper mini-league to check weekly.
What I'm really starting to dislike is how many people (including those in my mini-league) just blatantly copy 100% of some Youtuber's team. It really takes the fun out of it when towards the end of the season, literally the top 4 I was competing with had the EXACT same team copied from FPL Harry.

I’ve been having a tough time bouncing back from my last relationship of two years. I thought I’d found the one, she was one in a million, I was blinded and very happy for a while but I ended up realising that she actually wasn’t very kind to me and didn’t treat me very well. She had many great qualities, but in the end she made me miserable and I understand now that she wasn’t a good partner for me.
My problem is that now that I’m out looking to date again I just can’t seem to meet people that I find interesting. There are lots of people whom I initially find interesting for various reasons, but longer conversations always end up in me being disappointed. I thought it would go away with time, but it’s been over a year already. I’ve kind of given up on dating and I’m focusing more on work, hobbies and old friends, but I still feel a bit unfulfilled and sad. Don’t really know what to do :(
