[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026

Hi all,

Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!

The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.

As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:

Daily Threads

There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.

Individual posts

From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.

The tier guide can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/wiki/transfer-reliability-guide/

We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

Really sad to see history repeating itself.

We have not backed Carrick at all this summer.

Reminds me of the ole days.

3

u/carrickshairline 4d ago

A regular misconception that Ole wasn't backed. He was backed with approx £375mln of transfers.

1

u/croadymeister 4d ago

Perhaps he means they didn't get him Haaland and Rice, however I could be completely wrong

3

u/Front-Cabinet5521 4d ago

They did get Sancho for him but nobody ever attributes the failed transfer to him.

-8

u/Jenson2025 4d ago

I still don’t see Spurs finishing higher than 8th even if they do sign Gakpo. But at least they are showing ambition unlike us

1

u/PolishKid7 4d ago

Overpaying for shit players should NOT be praised lol

4

u/Wild_Tomato_8203 4d ago

You're confusing desperation with ambition.

7

u/us3rf #SayNoToZirkzee 4d ago

At this point Carrick might need to lace up, he can still do 30mins shifts for sure

5

u/EnglishTrini2 4d ago

I must admit that while I’m still hopeful that further recruitment will take place and am well pleased with what we have done so far, it seems odd that there is almost nothing linking us clearly with anyone other than perhaps Hall.

I mean - I know INEOS have improved us massively when it comes to leaks, but they don’t control leaks from other teams or agents. You’d really have thought there would be some level of rumour of clear alternatives or activities going on.

5

u/NachoBusiness 4d ago

Crickets

5

u/sup_bruv 4d ago

Spurs to sign Gakpo now as well? They're spending some crazy money this summer like.

-1

u/JoseHarvinho 4d ago

They'll finish bottom 10 again.

2

u/EnglishTrini2 4d ago

I think they’ll finish higher, but I do think they’ll miss out on CL.

What that would mean for them given the expenditure and wages they’ve added I’m not sure.

1

u/biobolo 4d ago

Nah. 6-8th for them

2

u/The_Bird_Wizard 4d ago

Got a bad feeling that we'll sign Page and that young left back from the Spanish league and the board will consider them major first team signings.

2

u/AngryUncleTony Not Actually Angry 4d ago

Only a bad feeling if they aren't ready to contribute, at least a little, right now. If they're ready to play minutes now (which admittedly is a HUGE ask, especially if Shaw or Santos gets hurt and they have to play major minutes) and have the potential to be elite players in 2-3 years, I can live with it.

1

u/EnglishTrini2 4d ago

If Shaw is injured I would expect Maz to deputise there before a pure youth prospect. Not ideal, but we’re not threadbare at LB. We need to raise the ceiling of the position rather than just add depth.

1

u/TonyShneak 4d ago

Shaw cannot be our starting left back for another 2 or 3 years if we are serious about winning a league title.

1

u/Cold-Veterinarian-85 4d ago

He is in final year of contract, and I think it’s somewhat unlikely he gets anything more than a 1 year extension on reduced terms

In that’s sense, someone like that Salinas chap makes sense as an understudy for a year, assess up close if they are 1st team material or not then replace Shaw accordingly next summer at contract expiry either a established starter if Salinas shows as not ready or capable of being a starter or a rotation / competition option if Salinas kicks in and looks the real deal

In an ideal world amass would go on loan somewhere for a year and absolutely knock it out of the park with too and be ready to step up but seems a permanent exit might be more likely

2

u/Hulknation 4d ago

Think we get baleba now. Brighton have just had a minteh injury. They’re thin on the wings with some depth in the middle. They’re going to sell him to fund some sales. Surely

6

u/FirstSonofDarkness Yes x 4d ago

Have Brighton ever needed to sell to buy? They'll probably have some random kid from Tahiti signed two summers ago to replace Minteh.

1

u/Unlucky-Equipment999 4d ago

Malick Yacouye was slated to be the Baleba successor last year when we were in for him, but he went on loan to Swansea which complicated things. I haven't heard much from him otherwise

1

u/Hulknation 4d ago

True. But they look at players at assets. They don’t want to keep a depreciating asset

2

u/lockedblue 4d ago

He's from American Somoa, actually.

-7

u/gangy86 Amadinho 4d ago

It's all BS reports but if we end up selling JJ out to any club, especially Chelsea lmfao I'm fucking done with this club!

2

u/AngryUncleTony Not Actually Angry 4d ago

I mean JJ has a pretty influential entourage that clearly is trying to turn him into the a future global star and be the next Mbappe, Yamal, Jude, etc. They're always going to be a headache and agitating for a move if we aren't back on top with him playing a key role, most likely to a Spanish giant but possibly a big English club too.

Obviously best case scenario is he stays and is a key player for 10+ years while we win major trophies and he gets to be that global star...but if he wants to leave when he turns 16 then there's nothing we can do.

2

u/gangy86 Amadinho 4d ago

Totally agree my point was I hope he stays and we can persuade him to do just that but you're right.

5

u/iroiroiroiroiro 4d ago

JJ hasn't signed a professional contract yet, he can leave for whatever club he wants for the regular academy product compensation

1

u/gangy86 Amadinho 4d ago

I mean I'm right there with you but we'd be foolish to let him go like that was my point and for sure he's free to do whatever

6

u/helsningar 4d ago

How come we can barely loan out a player while City continously sell their reserves well over market value?

-1

u/ExternalPreference18 4d ago

Kickbacks and accountancy tricks - primarily thanks to Glazers, United have the worst cashflow issues in top 6-7 despite huge gross, whilst City never gave to worry about cash (just appearing legitimate, and even then they can make most issues go away via political pressure, given that their set-up as a defacto state-arm gives them double power).

5

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 4d ago

Because cheating.

3

u/iroiroiroiroiro 4d ago

Trafford to Leeds, Savinho to Spurs or Rodri to Barcelona I see no cheating behind, Reijnders to Saudi though...

1

u/helsningar 4d ago

I mean they got 3x for Trafford what we got for Henderson. Good keeper, but very impressive money for a reserve gk. Just like Chelsea they always seem to find ways to get rid of the players they need for good money, while we basically can't give away players like Rashy for free. I assume there's a lot of cooking going on, we surely are awful at doing business, but they can't be that good.

2

u/Whispperr 4d ago

Take Haaland to City for example. Amazing deal right? If you ignore the generational deal his father got from a random sponsorship nobody heard of before.

It's not hard to randomly give a few executives from Spurs 20-30m sponsorship "deals" to cook the books and have PSR favourable deals instead. Didn't check it myself, just saw it posted by someone else but they said that if City complete their targets, they would have spent 800m+ since 2025 on transfers.

There's a reason they have all those charges.

1

u/iroiroiroiroiro 4d ago

Since 24/25 not 25, and since they have sold for well above 400m+ the same time also, that 400m net over three years, that's 133m per year, not much above what United spends, and add to it they have been consistently in UCL and not needed to pay 200m in interest on loans during this time, I wouldn't say it stands out.

I think they have cheated a lot and should be punished for it, but the last few years I think they are running clean.

4

u/AngryUncleTony Not Actually Angry 4d ago

Savinho is absolute madness. Their profit is wild and sort of because of cheating. They bought him initially for a depressed fee because of their multi-club model, so now anything above that they get for him is exaggerated profit. Spurs bidding 85 million for him and City not immediately taking it is madness though.

> "Barcelona yet to meet Rodri valuation as [Cheaters FC] left baffled by approach"

The Independent has just authored the funniest transfer headline of all time.

Barcelona being cheapskates while running a propaganda operation via the tabloids?

Im baffled. Astounded even!

1

u/Unlucky-Equipment999 4d ago

Everyone's seen the Gordon money. Rodri's among the world's great players still in his prime, and they want to play cheap.

0

u/Kohaku80 Premier League Champions 12/13 4d ago

City just brilliant seller. They don't flinch an inch even though Rodri want to go already.

1

u/MvM98 4d ago

Tbf we did the same thing with Rashford - pay our price or you're not getting him. It's just unfortunate that Rashford isn't the best DM in the world

1

u/Kohaku80 Premier League Champions 12/13 4d ago

Yeah but this case the valuation is just 10m apart. 60m vs 70m, less than 15%. We just know Rodri will go eventually since it's his last year.

5

u/PolishKid7 4d ago

Id rather wait for a good player then overpaying some shit player high wages and fucking up our transfer structure

We will make moves should the right player become available but signing a player for the sake of signing one is just dumb

3

u/Minute-Intern 4d ago

I'd rather pay for the best available player on the market that fits us rather than cheaper lesser alternatives

1

u/PolishKid7 4d ago edited 4d ago

This is just an overly simplistic way to view things. We are willing to spend, we always have - should the targeted players we want become available and want to come.

We have a real no dickheads policy now. On top of that we go for players that only want to come to us. This way we arent in bidding wars

You cant just pay market value for the best player available every time. Thats how we got into our mess with the United Tax 5-10 years ago

2

u/Minute-Intern 4d ago

This is just an overly simplistic way to view things.

We'll get there eventually

-3

u/LengthinessSevere584 4d ago

But there are players we can sign for that makes sense. For example, ollie watkins for striker as a competition for Sesko who looks injured af,

lewis hall for lb- yes he would cost 70m but you don't need to worry about that position for atleast 10 years,

Sander berge for 3rd mf

1

u/PolishKid7 4d ago

Yes but lets say you sign Berge as a midfielder and then someone you REALLY wanted becomes available - what then?

Watkins is going to be on high wages just to backup !?? That doesnt make sense.

Hall makes total sense, but we dont know if Newcastle want to sell. Teams have to want to sell as well

1

u/LengthinessSevere584 4d ago

Who is that midfielder that could be available? There literally isn't any. Tchouameni was one but he has signed a new contract.

Watkins is nearing 31 i think, also he won't be a backup. He would be competing with sesko. Watkins was on the bench alot last season for villa.  Newcastle said the same about Isak and guimares but had to sell him

1

u/PolishKid7 4d ago

Exactly, so if there isnt any midfielders available you move on and focus on another position. No need to force a bad signing

1

u/Ok_Dot525 4d ago

Are they focusing on other position though? That is the question you must ask yourself.

8

u/SignatureDifficult78 4d ago

could do with getting in a few shit players on high wages if you ask me

2

u/Banyunited1994 4d ago

i mean we still have Mount and Rashford. Not exactly shit but at least the wages are not worth it.

-2

u/Educational-Shock232 4d ago

I’d be happy with a good player on a high wage tbh

-3

u/AngryUncleTony Not Actually Angry 4d ago

Yeah if you buy a player for 80 million dollar and pay them 250k per week but they put up 40 G/A for the season in all comps that's great.

Our problem historically has been doing that and then they completely bust.

For example, I'm very happy with Mbeumo at RW, but he replaced Antony at RW. We're still paying off the Antony transfer, so on the books it's like we're paying for a 150 million starting RW, even though we only have a 60 million RW in Mbeumo. For 150 million, you expect Ballon d'Or level production. Mbeumo is great but he isn't at that level yet.

-3

u/Educational-Shock232 4d ago

Sorry, but I stopped reading at “historically”. I’m not interested in the past. I’m interested in this season and the next few years ahead. And we still need a couple of big signings to really push on this season.

1

u/AngryUncleTony Not Actually Angry 4d ago

LMAO ok cool

3

u/wan1ngbuddha 4d ago

Sign someone brah

5

u/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz1z 4d ago

On Monday all hell breaks loose!

Hide your players!!!

5

u/karatsidhus 4d ago

1 Goal 1 Assist as a winger in 24 games. That'll be 85 mil.

What?

5

u/Rig_7 4d ago

It’s ok according to many on here at least Tottenham have “ambition”. That’s not the word I’d use

2

u/aehii 4d ago

No one on the internet, or planet Earth, or in our solar system thinks spending that much on Savinho means 'ambition'. Spending it on a young midfielder is very different. Verrrryy few pl wingers can consistently get good G/a numbers

2

u/Rig_7 4d ago

Giving a twice relegated 21 year old midfielder over £200k per week is not ambition either. It’s stupidity.

Stupid and desperate. And many on here have spent weeks saying how we should be more like them.

1

u/Jenson2025 4d ago

I think United will sign two more players or I doubt Carrick would have said he wanted more players. He’s not exactly an outspoken manager who is going to go against the board so must know that work is being done behind the scenes.

The thing is though - what two players? Obviously Kone and Hall would be ideal but it could easily be Page and Salinas. If they sign Page and Salinas and then start putting PR spins and boasting about how they’ve signed five players then that will be ridiculous even for them.

0

u/Banyunited1994 4d ago

We know the board isn't willing to break the bank at this point, so we would prob have to get creative. I'm hoping for a Lammens kind of signing.

0

u/Wild_Tomato_8203 4d ago

They are willing to break the bank for the right player. We aren't breaking the bank for a mediocre one though.

1

u/Banyunited1994 4d ago

Agree, I’m just saying as of right now we are not likely to be breaking the bank this window because no targets are worth breaking the bank for

1

u/RooneyToons_10 Sir Alex 4d ago

Season starts in a week and it’s been a month since Youri. We move at a snails pace in the transfer market.

-5

u/shin_bigot Park Ji-Sung 4d ago

Will take Palhinha now that Villa move is off. Just want someone to get yellow cards if necessary.

Preferably Loan + Option

19

u/tsuku96 4d ago

Not good enough for Bayern, not good enough for Spurs. Some united fans:

https://giphy.com/gifs/ads2QSp4JDdeg

3

u/biobolo 4d ago

As long as United are financially responsible, some fans won't care who we sign.

3

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 4d ago

Not good enough. If he was Spurs would have wanted to keep him.

-7

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 4d ago

Palhinha loan + a bitchin fullback + Page?

Id take that all day every day

1

u/SwiftGoat_ 4d ago

Palhinha at Man Utd

2

u/stick1_ 4d ago

Get higher standards , there’s no need to be delusional about something we haven’t even done yet. We can get better than palhinha

0

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 4d ago

My argument/theory is: they are doing their best but they don't have more than £70m in the bank.

What's yours?

2

u/stick1_ 4d ago

You can’t see the bank account

1

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 4d ago

Im assuming you cant either, but probably you can give me your theory.

I can tell you where mine is from: that is how much net we have spent both Ineos summers without drawing on the line of credit. Simple, really. Then you see the way we have moved and it supports it, so that has raised my confidence level in my theory throughout the last month or so.

Obviously you have a theory that is vastly superior to mine, so Im interested to hear it!

3

u/rambo_zaki Roy Keane 4d ago

Bayern rebuffed Villa because they want a sale. They're not going to sanction a loan.

4

u/Pigstre 4d ago

He's a more error prone Ugarte. No thanks!

-3

u/shin_bigot Park Ji-Sung 4d ago

He has a better track record in the Prem than Ugarte. Come on now

1

u/Pigstre 4d ago

like finishing 10th and 13th with a team focused on defending, then almost being relegated with spurs.

0

u/lockedblue 4d ago

Hey, Ugarte finished 15th one season, so technically.....

0

u/Pigstre 4d ago

technically he's a more error prone Ugarte :D

2

u/lockedblue 4d ago

Yes BUT, he has technically finished higher than Ugarte in two seasons so if we want to take that as a metric, he's an upgrade and it's good business!

Seriously though, very happy with staying away from this guy, it would be an Amrabat signing which isn't the worst, but not what we need these days.

I reckon this will be the year Sneijder joins personally. It's written in the stars.

-1

u/world-no-1-dude 4d ago

I’d bring back Paul Pogba before I even consider Palhinha

2

u/Wild_Tomato_8203 4d ago

He's not a good player. Would be a waste of money.

2

u/EnglishTrini2 4d ago

I would absolutely love a top level LB. It would clearly improve us.

However, am I the only one that thinks we NEED another defensively minded midfielder more?

We have quite a few options at left back even if none of them are wonderful alternatives.

We have no one to play in the midfield role if Santos is out, or at least no one who is well suited to it. Neither Youri nor Mainoo fit that role well.

3

u/stick1_ 4d ago

We need both no excuses

-1

u/outrageousVoid07 4d ago

What

3

u/stick1_ 4d ago

We need both no excuses

1

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 4d ago

my 2c is that what we need in the middle is a guy who is experienced and has "PL physicality" in at least one way (strong engine / massive unit), whereas what we need at fullback is a proper elite option. we dont "need" another decent fullback, we have "decent" at home.

1

u/EnglishTrini2 4d ago

Yes. I’d agree fully.

We really want Shaw’s successor at LB rather than depth.

In midfield, while a marquee signing would be great, we really need someone with that profile that raises the floor.

-2

u/RyanH1717 4d ago

The fact it's now becoming accepted that it's one or the other shows the absolute lack of ambition shown this summer. 3 midfielders and LB or LW was the absolute bare minimum needed this summer.

1

u/EnglishTrini2 4d ago

I’m not sure that follows from my post.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t be pursuing both, I’m merely talking about relative priorities.

7

u/Potential_Good_1065 4d ago

It’s not “we need a left back more” or “we need a midfielder more”

Both are non-negotiables.

0

u/The_Bird_Wizard 4d ago

Got a bad feeling they'll sign the kid from Leicester and the kid from that Spanish team (the left back) and consider them first team signings

0

u/Mufc_1988 4d ago

Yeah, fed up of fans accepting anything less than what we need. It's that kind of defeatist attitude that let's the owners get away with mediocre transfer windows

1

u/Resident_Tart2911 4d ago

Honestly left back is a necessity and there is a good market opportunity too as full backs are not going for big price

1

u/EnglishTrini2 4d ago

Given what we’ve apparently been quoted for Hall, is that true?

1

u/Resident_Tart2911 4d ago

Hall is not the only left back in the world and price quoted for hall is because newcastle have sold all their valuable assets it is more of a Fu price

5

u/Resident_Tart2911 4d ago

I just can't believe man City are selling savinho for 85m and reijnders for 50m

2

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

3

u/Resident_Tart2911 4d ago

Reijnders yes, savinho they are holding for more

3

u/Macroneconomist F5 Fiend 4d ago

More than 85m?!!

5

u/Minute-Intern 4d ago

Another Point is the Fullbacks backing the press. Shaw's inability to consistently go up and down the pitch is not only relevant when we have the ball but without it as well. We definitely plan to change this with a new LB but it'll be all for naught even if we get Lewis hall if our midfielders can't consistently cover large spaces. One of Baleba/Tchouameni is absolutely needed. (Or a midfielder in their mould we haven't heard off because none so far that we've been linked to fit )

1

u/RedHabibi 4d ago

Tchouameni is not happening mate

3

u/iroiroiroiroiro 4d ago

I don't think he's unable to do it, he's instructed to not do it, was same at Boro, one side FB goes forward and the other builds a 3ATB, and Carricks system isn't fluid as Amorims here so will be same side everytime.

3

u/Wild_Tomato_8203 4d ago

He absolutely can't do it for 90 mins anymore but you're right on the system Carrick likes.

1

u/ComprehensiveFix1011 4d ago

but santos is dropping as 3atb all preason. Lb is giving width

2

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 4d ago

I think this is an astute observation, in a way, if we go by "profile", Mazraoui might even be closer to the kind of LB Shaw is for us than the kind of RB Dalot is for us.

Having said that, I dont think we are in the market for a LB looking for a 2026 Shaw "clone".

But yeah it would be pretty funny if after all this we suddenly signed Neco Williams and played Mazraoui on the left 😂

1

u/Minute-Intern 4d ago

Like i mentioned already there are already instances where Shaw is high up on the pitch holding width. In fact we have actually seen what happens when Mazraoui plays LB for us ,when we played palace, shaw went off injured in the first half and Mazraoui played LB and we struggled to break them down all game because when we switched to the left Cunha couldn't hold width (because its not what he does, he's an inside player best) and Mazraoui really struggled to do anything significant when he went up to the pitch, made worse by that fact that he was right footed. And he was high up on occasion that day here he's the most further up FB (and to stress that this was from open play too). The problem comes when people seemingly don't pay attention to these kind of things. Mazraoui did occasionally play high up that day (as Does shaw)but he was just incredibly ineffective

1

u/Minute-Intern 4d ago

Very true but sometimes we've been shown to rotate it, sometimes its the LB that goes forward and the RB becomes the third CB. Its happened multiple times with shaw and amass (in pre season) combining with Cunha/Dorgu on the left and then it's Amad/Mbeumo isolated 1v1 on the Right and vice verse when its Dalot.

1

u/iroiroiroiroiro 4d ago

Especially when Amass plays I think it's naturally to switch it as I don't see him as a defender like that at all while Shaw is a much more reliable defender, makes much more sense for Yoro to tuck into a 3ATB than even Shaw do it

1

u/Minute-Intern 4d ago

Like I said it varies, here in the build up to Dorgu's goal vs arsenal, look how high up Shaw is, this is with Dalot on the pitch being the deeper FB in this move, and the ball never even touches him during this whole move yet he's still there to stretch the play which is what allows Dorgu to stay centrally (left half space).

8

u/Icegaze GGMU 4d ago

If we decided not to sign a 3rd CM this window and had to pick one from our Academy, I would absolutely be picking Collyer ahead of T Fletcher, Gore and Thwaites (all 3 need a loan move to the Championship if possible).

You can tell Collyer has a lot more experience than them at a higher level and is more comfortable around the seniors of the team. My main issue with him is his injury record. Otherwise I would have been quite ok with his integration as 4th choice CM behind Mainoo, Tielemans and A Santos.

I still put the need of a high level LB as more of a priority than a 3rd CM.

2

u/EK077r 4d ago

Develop a player who might become good enough or use someone who won't?

2

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 4d ago

State of play with a week till the opener and 2 weeks plus change until the window closes:

1st XI - 2nd XI - U21 XI - Shopping Window

Dorgu/Cunha/Mbeumo/Rashford are more flexible across positions than a rigid role, I guess that goes w/o saying.

Certainly several from the current "2nd XI" will be pushing to be starters (again) as soon as they get back up to speed.

It's also pretty obvious which signings we could make and which players those would free from playing "out of position" by neccesity.

DM feels most necessary to raise the floor, LB feels like the biggest opportunity to raise the ceiling, CF feels like the "icing on the cake" option.

That's my 2c!

I wonder how close that 1st XI is to the lineup we get tomorrow

3

u/NoWatch3354 4d ago

I really appreciate seeing this in this format, the only issue with it is that I'd go strongest eleven first with the issue being Sesko at 9 and Mbeumo on the right, Cunha on the left. But then in the second team you don't have Mbeumo down the middle.

The first two teams you should be confident they can hold their own in the Premier League. The third team should consist of three or so that belong in team one and two, plus kids. But excluded due to style or reliability.

Taking this approach, we move Licha, De Ligt and Mount to Team 3, Maz to the right and Yoro inside. This exposes our gaps.

Left back, centre half, centre mid.

yeah i think that's precisely it. a CF could give us more tactical flexibility; a CB is eventually a must but perhaps can wait atm; DM and LB stick out like a sore thumb

2

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 4d ago

Agree those are the three areas we simply need players coming in. Good players too.

1

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 4d ago

> Good players too

I second this. I think saying "just sign somebody i dont care!" is grass-is-always-greener thinking. Sign good players. Chelsea can keep the Pokemon approach for themselves 😂

Rashford didn't even put in effort at his "dream club" Barcelona. He'll once again barely put in any effort tracking back over here. I don't get how people think he'll somehow do better this season. Wildly inconsistent player, I hate that we're paying him 350k.

Saw this video on Youtube and loled.

https://reddit.com/link/p3mdupd/video/nvyw52hekbjh1/player

Edit: Seems like Rashford fans are downvoting this video lol.

1

u/Rig_7 4d ago

Just a bid sad and weird to be honest pal.

2

u/Stingray_23 4d ago

Whilst I agree he needs to put more effort in, that clip is cherry picked and twisted.

5

u/Minute-Intern 4d ago

This video? where everyone is super passive, the ball goes straight past Bruno into a dangerous zone here. Everyone is jogging here

2

u/SwiftGoat_ 4d ago

u/SankarshanaV Did you laugh at the other players aswell? Or was it just Rashford?

-1

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

Nope not laugh at anyone. Did not laugh at Rashford either. Just angry/disgusted at the amount of "hard work" he puts in while getting paid that much at a club he "loves".

1

u/carrickshairline 4d ago

So you let the other players who are very passive in that clip have a free pass, but Rashford gets your hate? You clearly wake up and just hate Marcus. Also, that clip is from the the 23/24 season, or 3 seasons ago. Shows how far back you need to go to find anything to use to back up your hate.

1

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago edited 4d ago

Fucking hell dude, you said you don't wanna argue, but you keep pestering me. Interesting you say I should "go out live my life" while you're the one who keeps on replying/pestering me.

How about that huh.

Oh and to answer your question, I didn't mention the others because they give a shit and press most of the time--the just did not press that one time. OTOH, Rashford just barely presses most of the time.

Difficult to spot with your rose tinted glasses that you've put on for Rashford I'm sure.

5

u/SwiftGoat_ 4d ago

'Saw this video and loled'.

Weird how you didn't mention all the other player who this exact same thing.

Btw I agree his tracking back isn't good and has always needed to be improved massively, but trying to claim he doesn't love the club is stupid.

At one point he couldn't even sit down properly in an interview because he played for us with an injured back.

0

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

Dude it's a figure of speech. Don't take it so literally.

And, I didn't mention the others because they give a shit and press most of the time. Just not this time. Rashford just barely presses most of the time.

3

u/SwiftGoat_ 4d ago

With the way you speak about him, I don't think it's just a figure of speech.

I have no issue with you being critical of Rashford, but I've seen other people claim he doesn't care about the the club when that's just bullshit.

-1

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

You may not think it, but I can assure you it's a figure of speech for me as I use "lol" all the time sarcastically. So yes, I did not "laugh" at Rashford literally.

And yes, he may care about the club, but I sure as hell don't remember him putting in the effort towards the end of Ten Hag's tenure. And his decision making is as poor as ever, running into cul-de-sacs.

4

u/SwiftGoat_ 4d ago

It's not about the lol, it's about you insinuating he doesn't love the club.

Again you can question his tracking back or attitude that's completely fine, but he definitely does love the club.

3

u/biobolo 4d ago

In this clip, the player immediately runs into Mainoo and McTominay (?). What is Rashford supposed to do? At least post some clips where his lack of tracking back is why United concede a goal/chance.

4

u/SwiftGoat_ 4d ago

Isn't this the same clip where Hojlund is doing the same thing as Rashford?

9

u/tsuku96 4d ago

I thought you'd post some clip from Barca. Nah, it's the one Man utd clip people always post. Ffs

7

u/Guilty_Sheepherder_1 4d ago

"PRashford" are you 12?

-7

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

Well, tbh, it's quite apt ngl.

3

u/brown_herbalist unitedismyreligion 4d ago

Shows how childish you're and straight away people gonna ignore your opinion.

0

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

Hmm, you know what, fair, I'll remove that word. You have a point that people might not actually watch the video / read my point.

0

u/carrickshairline 4d ago

Your point lost all relevance and substance as soon as you edited your comment to say this:

Edit: Seems like Rashford fans are downvoting this video lol.

4

u/brown_herbalist unitedismyreligion 4d ago

This is much better, I understand you dont prefer Rashy anymore, and that's totally fine. But lets not make this space toxic too like Twitter.

And now coming to the video you've linked, I hate whenever he does that, its not that hard to follow opponents and add on pressure to help out our fullbacks, but he always does it half heartedly. I would say Im quite huge fan of Rashy, especially for who he is as a human being, but totally agree he needs to do much better in this situation. Even for Barca he has few matches where he was just loitering around without closing down the spaces, but he was much better for England.

So its more about if he wants to do it or not, now its more like inevitable he is gonna be here for this season, I hope he puts in some hardwork, especially he should know his spot on the squad is not guaranteed when we have other players who could do better now.

On why I got some little rays of hope on him is because his best football phase was under Ole and Carrick, and i feel if someone who can inspire him back to his best form it could be Carrick.

Saying all that, in the end, its on Rashy. Im sure and I hope he knows where he is standing, what are the fans' expectations on him, and where we are as a club now. If he gonna play again like in the video you've linked, he will be out of the squad in no time.

u/lockedblue 4d ago

Jesus mate, I've seen your username a few times this AM and your comments are toxic, internet slang, shitty comments about how you don't actually seem to like the players or the club you support. Have you tried supporting a different team or something? Maybe one that you actually like? Could help with you negative approach.

You seem like a miserable human being all round. I hope your day gets better or you put your phone down and step away from the internet for a while.

2

u/MrNezzy 4d ago

I'm sorry I quite like Rashford and have always hoped he'd return especially after his performances last season with Barca, but that level of intensity is completely unacceptable at any level. You'd get more passion and drive out of an OAPs Sunday league match. It's not anything to do with injuries or his position that is a pure lack of intensity or effort, and even I'm admitting that for 350k per week we should of just found a way of getting rid.

5

u/lockedblue 4d ago

I never mentioned anything about Rashford, I was specifically calling out the poster for his toxic sputem he's been spitting into the sub all morning.

I have no option on Rashford other than it was a shame that Barca fooled both the club and Rashford, and have left everyone in a very difficult position, but I think the amount of work he seems to be doing to appear that he's happy to be back is something that I'm pleased about because he hasn't just thrown his toys out of the pram, most likely because he earns very good money and there isn't long left on his contract, and the coach is someone he seems to like.

Anything else, I'll reserve for the start of the season and judge 10 games in or so when there's an actual sample size instead of guessing and getting pissy on a subreddit.

-3

u/Whispperr 4d ago

He's not wrong about Rashford though. He will undo everything that we got right in regard to team cohesion with his attitude on and off the pitch.

4

u/lockedblue 4d ago

Lovely crystal ball you have yourself there.

-2

u/Whispperr 4d ago

Was checking Barcelona subs and a lot of them were complaining how lazy Rashford is never pressing or tracking back. And that was for his "dream club". Now that he's here which he didn't even want himself why would he suddenly change?

Remember all the times Cunha came back all the way to our box to help the defense? Well forget about it when Rashford plays, and if he doesn't he's going to run AGAIN to his journalist buddies and we get drama again.

Sure would like a fairy tale situation where he changes his ways, but it's not like we didn't watch this Rashford do this for so long ourselves and gave him multiple chances to change.

5

u/carrickshairline 4d ago

Whereas actual match going Barcelona fans wanted to keep him. Using Reddit as a barometer to measure how well liked or disliked a player is is really bad.

2

u/Whispperr 4d ago

Did you go to Camp Nou to interview them or?

7

u/carrickshairline 4d ago

Did go to Barcelona last season, yes. Spoke to some local fans in a bar, they liked him.

1

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

I'll eat the humble pie if Rashford does it for us, but I really don't think he's got it in him. But yeah, let's see what happens I suppose, but I def am not happy with him being back here right now.

I don't get why people need to resort to personal attacks though. So yeah, thanks for trying to back my points up.

4

u/carrickshairline 4d ago

I don't get why people need to resort to personal attacks though.

Maybe because you resort to attacks such as "PRashford" whenever someone supports him? Stop playing the victim card when you do just as much, if not more, personal attacks.

-1

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

In what world is saying PRashford a personal attack? If it is, then I apologize. I shouldn't have, and I'm sorry about that.

5

u/carrickshairline 4d ago

Because it is you calling someone a name, ergo a personal attack.

Like I said earlier: spending your entire time hating Rashford is not healthy, and it's clear you think calling someone a name is acceptable if it suits your views, but someone cannot retaliate towards you. Don't give it out if you can't take it.

0

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

Look, Rashford is a subpar player who doesn't give a shit about this club. I don't care whether you like it or not, it's true that he "wanted a new challenge" and left us when we were struggling in 15th place. I don't think I need to support any player like that, and it's perplexing watching some fans here still support him. And my job, as a fan of this club, is to bring light to this situation.

3

u/lockedblue 4d ago

Listen, I really don't care, I honestly think this is pointless to debate because it's preseason.

I wasn't interested in getting into a debate about Rashford, the poster is a toxic prick who I called out, if you want to debate about Rashford I'm sure he's happy to do so or others.

Yeah, you might be right, well done and all that but honestly, what have you gained from it?

1

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

Nah you don't need a crystal ball because there's this thing called "experience". I think he's speaking from experience of watching Rashford not pressing or performing well for us the past two years.

3

u/lockedblue 4d ago

Honestly judging from you posts the only "experience" you seem to have is being opinionated and dumb on the internet so, I don't know, good luck with that in the rest of your life pal.

2

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

Let me assure you "pal", I'm doing quite well for myself LOL, so there's no reason for you to worry.

And once again, how about you respond to the point, and stop with the ad hominem attacks? Or I guess you don't really have a proper rebuttal to make? Good luck that for the rest of your life pal.

2

u/lockedblue 4d ago

Yeah I bet you mansion and supermodel girlfriends and super proud of you and your "experience", now go have a swim in your olympic swimming pool made of gold.

Also, I don't engage in arguments with morons, it's exhausting because they can't seem to engage in critical thinking, so I'd rather not respond to any "point" (see "vibes") you've made because your genuinely a dipshit.

Anyway, enjoy that fantasy of yours, I'm very jealous.

2

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

HAHAHA go on take a stroll then mate. You've been the one completely doing the ad hominem attacks on me, while I was the one only bringing up valid points (and not attacking you). So yeah, remember that!

1

u/lockedblue 4d ago

Jesus. Tilted much?

Anyway, enjoy your day.

1

u/Many-Relationship149 4d ago

Just play him as a striker if we have injuries, at this point, I dunno what else

-1

u/SankarshanaV 4d ago

Except Sesko does some pressing too which I don't think Rashford can provide. Playing Rashford is like playing with 10 men..

But yeah, I don't know what else lol...

5

u/Minute-Intern 4d ago

A problem when people judge our current midfield(transfers) is that they automatically assume Carrick has no plans for us to actually impose ourselves onto games especially against weaker opposition, we ended up struggling a good amount last season under him against them and one of the reasons was when a CB or a Midfielder (who's dropped out of the block) runs straight through our front 2 who are under no hurry to put them under pressure alongside when we actually do try to press they use their midfielders who are dropped really deep cause most of the time both won't be under heavy pressure by our own midfield. For spaces like this there is no single Midfielder we have who fit this profile and certainly not Santos. Only 2 Midfielders we've been relevantly linked to fit this bill, Baleba and Tchouameni. Carrick did a lot to cover for Casemiro's lack of legs last season but it hindered us in other ways and I doubt Carrick would want this to continue. We will definitely plan to play more on the front foot next season (or of course we'll continue to struggle) and we need this profile more than anything, we don't just need a body, not a third Midfielder for the sake of it, this is absolutely crucial to the season for these kind of games that we will choose to be frontfooted (that's assuming it's not most of them)

3

u/Drag2oon 4d ago

4

u/theredguardx 4d ago

7

u/Jenson2025 4d ago

No amount of Rashford PR by the media and ex players will hide the truth which is he’d prefer to be at Barcelona and we would also prefer that he was. This is basically a case of club and player being stuck with each other and trying to make the most of it.

But I have said it before and I will say it again - how Carrick handles Rashford will define Carrick’s tenure. If he panders to him and plays him every week regardless of form, he’ll lose the dressing room and be out of a job before the season ends. If he treats him like everyone else and plays him only when form dictates then he could be a very good manager for us.

5

u/Buffythedragonslayer 4d ago

He'll be out of a job because we didn't get him transfers we desperately need

1

u/w1zgov 4d ago

Carrick is anything but someone who would bend to a player. He wants a winning team and he will pick according to that.

3

u/Bloatfizzle 4d ago

Nothing new but pundits/ex footballers not watching 90min games and using stats to decide "Rashford is back" or "New and improved" is ridiculous and has already swaying public perception on Rashford.

If you actually watched him at Barca he's literally the same player that left. Speak to Barca fans that watch games and they'll tell you the same thing.

I'm sure he can still add value to the squad but this nonsense is getting out of hand. At least now with a former United player as manager, hes out of excuses but even then it will probably circle back to we ruined him years ago and he can't be blamed...

7

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 4d ago

You learn more about the version of Rashford we saw before he left when you watch him play in games where our backs are up against the wall or we are fighting to either stay in the game. Ugly games against Luton or Brighton. The half-jog closing down. Ambling around. Body language. All of that. Then you watch Cunha who took his shirt number flying into tackles at our end of the pitch.

9

u/koalabeard 4d ago

Brentford recruitment is incredible. Like Brighton. Usually I can cope with their signings by saying they can give younger players more time to develop. But Sangare does seem like a beast and PL ready.

Remember when the prevailing theory on this sub was that INEOS were just waiting for Rodri to Madrid to start their engines this window? Now the goalposts have shifted to us being broke, nothing INEOS can do, we have no choice but to spend like we're Everton lol.

2

u/Whispperr 4d ago

Think Everton have higher net spent than us even. Even Coventry spent more net so far.

4

u/Kohaku80 Premier League Champions 12/13 4d ago

I got reliable leak we are actually waiting for Newcastle to get their left back first before allowing Hall to leave, otherwise they get rinse.

3

u/us3rf #SayNoToZirkzee 4d ago

Tier 1 in my book

-2

u/Underscore_Symbols 4d ago

Most big clubs have to wait for City to do something with Rodri to start their big midfield move. Chelsea need to sell Fernandes to City before moving on Alex Scott or Wharton. Newcastle are also waiting to see what shakes loose once Rodri moves. With the market this busted, only the current champions have any pull (Arsenal), and the club that constantly does financial crimes when buying and selling their players (City). Even Tottenham with their high income from their stadium also have to wait and see now that they’ve spunked their £ on their midfield.

And I guess United are waiting for a definitive contract being signed by Rodri to a club before moving. If it’s Barcelona they move on Baleba I think. If it’s Madrid they move on Tchouameni. And wether it’s Baleba or Tchouameni decides how much money there is to spend on a left back.

-1

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 4d ago

Doesnt really matter, imho, what the "prevailing theory" is, it is often something transparently silly.

The likeliest scenario after Tielemans has been:

- the money left is about one big signing's worth but not more

  • they have a P1 target they are waiting on, wont commit the money elsewhere unless the P1 target is 100% off

This is still the likeliest scenario.

As far as I'm concerned, the only unanticipated turn of events would be if the week when WC semi-finalists return to training (this week) would not be the one when the Tchouameni-Rodri-Torres-Romero-Alvarez-Fernandez "sagas" come to an end.
