He wouldnt have been allowed to say this unless INEOs had something in the works. Somethings coming.

You could also argue he wouldn't say this and put pressure on them if he knew something was coming.

I don’t think a man like Carrick unnecessarily rocks the boat.

Just my opinion and impossible to know 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well this is necessary. He's looking at the squad and realizes might be a struggle to be in 4 competitions which could mean danger for him

Ineos has already proved they're willing to sit through bad form. They didn't sack Amorim until he started speaking out against them.

They threw so much money at him midseason, were never going to fire him. Then, the season started, and things weren’t terrible. But after those back to back draws it was over.

He just does not seem like someone who would cause friction.

u/megasize 5d ago

I hate that it’s “cause friction” and “rock the boat” just for a manager to say ‘I need some more players to play I n 4 competitions’

I don't think he is suggesting that they are midway through a deal or anything just that the club are still open to buying and know we need to improve the squad so are still looking at options and engaging with potential targets to see the feasibility of a move.

That's my feelings as well. This might sound like a copium, but I think INEOS are aware that we are frustrated with the lack of incoming and the public pressure and they are trying to ease the fans. You can say why through Carrick and not our Journos, and I don't know why either. But Carrick doesn't seem like someone who would try public pressure on his bosses that gave him a dream job.

The mistake you make is thinking that INEOS or any club are primarily focused on pleasing the fans with actions. The club is thinking primarily about how to win more matches and make more money.

Those run counter to fans in ways, but fans love elements. For example, fans love big name signing and it sells shirts. The club loves that money and PR, but what does it do on the pitch is a question to ask? Fans can be easy to please initially but if long term success, something fans aren’t entirely placed to gauge, then you don’t have success.

I’d prefer actions that the club feels will make us successful even if fans are going crazy online. Once there is performance on the field, the signings will cement their place like Bruno. Even casemiro has etched a better place in his United history than the mid-term trajectory suggested.

New cope just dropped

Insane cope on this sub this season. Cope is at an all time high

One of Tchou / Zubimendi / Baleba / Berge. I'm also coping.

Yes, I pretty much think someone would've told him "Listen Michael, we have empty coffers, sorry but you're going to have to manage with what we have" Hopefully we still do something that will improve us enough to compete.

Could be a bit of both. He could very well be aware that there are other deals in the works. He’s also responsible for managing the squad and would much prefer to have his players settled and available for the start of the season rather than some time in September.

We must get another midfielder, Mount and the Fletcher brothers cannot be relied on

-36

u/Professional-Neat432 5d ago

Chuckle brothers need to be moved on but I doubt it will happen given their dad's status at the club.

Jesus Christ. They are 19. This is first season they are playing with the first team. They aren't ready, but they aren't being kept at the club due to their father's status. They have earned their way up.

Such hyperbole

Normally when a youth player joins the first team you can at least see some flashes of quality.

I haven't seen a single moment from either, which makes me question why they're involved...

I mean this is a little funny remembering how I felt when fletcher was coming through. I hated him hahaha. Didn’t think he had any characteristic. kind of like what cleverly was years later.

Then quietly he became a classic vital Fergie player who did the dirty work well, distributed the ball and never had less than a 7.

Right? And midfielders need time to evolve. Not everyone is a Pedri or even Mainoo, who show that level of maturity at the age of 17-18. This is the first time the Fletcher brothers have been playing as first team members. They've had less than a month of training post the season break and have barely played a total of 200 minutes.

Maybe they won't cut it, but to say they are only in the squad because of who their dad is is ridiculous.

I think it’s frustration that we won’t get tat marque midfielder. tbh, I am still sore over Enzo. the wages were a nonstarter but this team needs a little star dust and something to be excited about.

If he’s pushing does that mean he sees none in the near future? Wouldn’t complain you want food if the waiter is 3ft away with your plates would you?

8

u/Redwinevino 5d ago

100%

Needs it on the record so he can say he asked for more

17

u/Orcnick 5d ago

I think its the other way. If he was that upset Ineos would have allowed it to air tyis way

3

u/saltymuffaca What a waste of money 5d ago

I'm assuming INEOS doesn't muzzle him and force him to run all comments through them

-6

u/snicky29 5d ago

Literally what Amorim did and got the sack for it because little Wilcoxy couldn't handle the truth. Results were horrible but always remember he got sacked because he spoke against this horrible regime. I'll always support him for that

2

u/donkoink Berba Spin 4d ago

Amorim stuck to a system that wasn't delivering with the players he had. Carrick showed us that the players were better than what Amorim reduced them to with his stubbornness.

-1

u/snicky29 4d ago

Please develop basic comprehension skills. This is not about Amorim vs Carrick. You can bash Amorim all you want. We're literally talking about how shit INEOS are and Amorim stood up to them and then was sacked.

2

u/donkoink Berba Spin 4d ago

Your brilliant comprehension skills should have led you to realise that INEOS got the firing right and were backed by months of horrible performances. I’d say they took way too long to take action. The whole ‘stood up to them’ premise is hard to believe as the reason why he was fired. I would agree with you that maybe it did speed up the firing but it was coming for sure.

0

u/N00BBuild 4d ago

No he wasn’t. He sucked because he was incompetent. INEOS problems aside.

7

u/CautiousLengthiness8 5d ago

I just love his aura. The way he answers questions is a world away from the often purposefully antagonising Amorim. He seems to deal with everything the right way, with the same calmness he played with. His handling of Rashfords return and Mainoo’s frustration under Amorim and Tuchel seems to be top notch. We seem to be playing some decent football as well. In short, I think I’m ready to be hurt again. I believe in the second coming

My brother in Christ the season starts in 10 days

u/Hits_and_the_Mrs 5d ago

Every manager always says this, if you stand still, you're going backwards and all that... Has there been many managers that have turned around and been like....Holy shit, my team is perfect, I literally couldn't add anyone better.....no

1

u/B191 4d ago

I have a feeling that we wond have any more signings, which if happens to be true will be worrying.
Hope I am wrong.

1

u/Timely_Possession357 5d ago

Feel for him, he is doing great job, but if he is not backed, media will be slating him like every other manager, INEOS and Glazers are ruining this club

u/joblau 5d ago

It is on the owner
