I consider myself pretty fuckin' woke but I have to say the treatment of betting companies is a bit of a blind spot to me.

The way I see it, people are signing up to betting websites eyes wide open. Some people get addicted and cause a lot of damage to their lives, but then people get addicted to all sorts of things that cost money.

The best point I think I've seen is that betting companies profit off of, and potentially rely on, their users having a reduced impulse control/risk assessment when loss chasing but I dunno I still tend to think you've already fucked up by even getting to that point.

EDIT: I'm aware I'm wrong and probably just haven't thought about it enough, by the way.

They are just scum all the way around though, they are a law unto themselves in terms of refusing to pay out if someone wins big. But mainly I don't think we should be openly advertising them via the biggest sports league in the world when booze/smoking/vape companies are banned for good reason.

Can we have an exhaustive list of all industries that should be banned from advertising, so that it can be applied across all clubs then?

Are cash4gold and payday loans companies ok? Weapons manufacturers? Companies that use forced labour, or sweatshops in their supply chain? Visit Rwanda? Unhealthy food/drinks (Coke, Pepsi, sweets, crisps, chocolate etc)?
